I take benazepril -hydrochlorth for hypertension and the pharmacist told me that the manufacturers stopped making them as they were and now I have to buy two separate pills to have basically the same pill I was taking . It seems that they are just doing this to double the copay that i make . I do not see the logic of it. Is there any special medical explanation for this action? ## I find it odd that the pharmacist told you that since there is no definitive information online (at least yet) to confirm it is true. Although this drug combination of benazepril and hydrochlorothiazide is already available separately, any effort to make the duo unavailable would definitely be geared towards patients spending more on each individual drug. Also, by taking two medications, you'd possibly be ...
Husband, 64, is being switched to Losartan. I am concerned b/c of trying to match correct dose. Benicar dose was 20/12.5, Losartan will be 100/12.5. (haven't taken yet) From what I've read, the 50/12.5 sounds more like it -or should he request to take 50mg 2ce a day? I'm going to contact Dr regarding this, but thought I'd get some input from you experts first so I'll know what to ask and how. Other concern is he is dx'd with Afib and HBP and is on a slew of other meds: prazosin, nisoldipine, flecainide, metoprolol and just added digoxin. We're trying to avoid sudden drop in BP with this Losartan adjustment. Any recommendations? Thanks ## I honestly wouldn't recommend trying to compare and match dosages between two different drugs whether they treat the sa...
I was prescibed 100mg/25HCTZ of Losartan. I have been taking 5mg/6.5HCTZ of Ziac. I was concerned that the Doc started me off with such a high dose of 100 mg of Losartan when the internet says the starting dose is 50mg. My BP went up hovering around 140/90 while on the Ziac. Any thoughts? ## Hi Charlie, I'm sure your doctor only prescribed what he thought would benefit you, however it is your body and if you are not comfortable with the dosage you should definitely speak with him. He may have prescribed you a larger dose to compete with the Ziac that could still be lingering in your system. In regards to your blood pressure raising while on Ziac, I can't find any information that says high blood pressure is a side effect of the medication since that is what it's supposed to ...

what would be the side effect of S-Amlodipine when i take it for 10 years. ## Virtually all of the medications that are used to treat hypertension and/or cardiac conditions carry possible risks with long-term use. Are regular blood tests being done? That's usually how any problems are found early, so you'll know if you need to try a different medication. Blood tests are done that usually include your a liver and kidney panel. It is rare for it to happen, but these medications may cause some liver or kidney damage. Learn more Amlodipine details here. However, what you also have to remember is, as I said, that risk is very small, so the risk to you is far greater if you would leave such medical conditions run untreated and out of control. How often do you take it?
I was given Metoprolol Tarta 50 mg. and it says to take one twice a day. I didn't take that much and it made me not be able to sleep like a lot of other beta blockers do. After taking it I woke up the other day and can't hear out of my right ear at all. I heard this medication is a ototoxic and can cause hearing loss. I have an appointment with a ENT doctor day after tomorrow. Has anybody else had this problem? I am now on two other B/P meds that work good and I can sleep good. This not being able ot hear out of my right ear is getting to me. I don't know what the doctor can do to get my hearing back. Hope this isn't permanent. I would appreciate any advice concerning this. Thanks, Nora ## There have been others that reported experiencing ototoxicity from taking Metoprol...
The medication is supposed to be Valsartan 320/ HCTZ 12.5. the pill is almost twice the size of my normal pill which is also pink and has HIL on one side, NVR on the other. ## Yes, that's still the same medication, it's just a generic that's manufactured by a different company. The one you were taking, with the NVR HIL imprint was the name brand Diovan HCT. The reason for the size different is usually just because they've chose to use different inactive ingredients and binders, when manufacturing them. Learn more Valsartan details here. Learn more Hydrochlorothiazide details here. Is there anything else I can help with?
can you take nyquil if you are on metoprol tar 25 mg ## If you are taking the Metoprolol to treat high blood pressure and/or a cardiac condition, I'd advise proceeding with caution. Learn more Metoprolol details here. The reason I am saying that is because most Nyquil formulations contain antihistamines and many of them can cause elevations in blood pressure and heart rate. Thus, you should check with your doctor first, to see which one is safe for you to use. Are you on any other medications?
