Does anyone have any suggestions for getting blood pressure meds without seeing a Dr every three to six months? I have been on the same RX for the last 5 years with no changes and no problems at all. ## Unfortunately, no. It is completely normal for your doctor to want to see you for a checkup several times a year, before continuing to prescribe a medication, especially since blood pressure medications could cause some issues, such as dehydration, low electrolytes, and kidney problems. You can learn more about the benefits, and possible risks on Heart.org. But regardless of the type of medication(s) someone is taking, doctors always want to see someone regularly to monitor their condition. How often does your doctor currently ask you to come in? ## Hi, thank you for the response! I must...

Can these be taken together in the evening? And will it be effective for 24 hrs? I'm too sleepy during the day!! ## Hi, Margo! You really should check with your doctor, before changing to taking them at night. It's really going to depend on your blood pressure levels and heart rate, as well as the symptoms. Usually, it's preferred that they be taken in the morning, to help control your blood pressure and heart rate during the times of day that you'll be most active and therefore experiencing the most fluctuations. But if you are severely drowsy from them, they may allow you to switch to taking them at night. Another alternative is splitting up the doses, so you take part of your dose in the morning and then the rest in the evening, which could lessen the side effects. Ma...

What link will help me find out if my Losartan is on recall? Is Losartan/HCT 100-12.5 mg made in the USA? Is there any recall on NDC 43547-425-09? ## Hi Linda, as to your original question about a recall, I checked on FDA MedWatch and did not find anything about your specific brand of Losartan/HCTZ tablets (NDC 43547-425, manufactured by Solco) being recalled. Solco did have a recall of Valsartan/HCTZ in 2018 [1]. What you might be referring to is the Losartan/HCTZ recall from Torrent Pharmaceuticals [2], [3] ... but that is a different manufacturer and NDC code than what you originally listed. Also, as far as where this drug is manufactured, it could vary. For example, Solco is based in the United States, but they could outsource their manufacturing or some ingredients from other count...

Is there a difference between Valsartan and Auro-Valsartan? ## In this case Auro refers to the Canadian manufacturer Auro Pharma Inc. It still contains Valsartan as the active ingredient so there should be little to no difference between Auro-Valsartan and what you would refer to as just Valsartan. I hope this helps! My doctor perscribed Lotrel for my high blood pressure. Its a pink and white capsule. I've been taking the generic Amlodipine/Benazerpril caps/ Is it the same as capsule Sandoz? ## Sandoz is the name of a prescription drug manufacturer, not the actual medication. Lotrel does contain the active ingredients Amlodipine, and Benazepril. It is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure, and certain cardiac conditions. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, increased urination, hypotension, and headache. As to whether or not you've received the correct medication. What are the markings on the capsule in question? Here's an image of one that's pink and white. NDC: 00093-7372 It contains 5mgs of Amlodipine, and 20mgs of Benazepril.

I woke up 3 nights ago with both arms covered by what appeared to be mosquito bites. I was mystified, nut thought it might be poison ivy. The next morning, I called my BCBS hotline, who identified this an allergic reaction. I called my doctor, who took me off of lisinopril and wnats me to try taking nothing for a week, then start 2.5 mg amlodipine if necessary. I have minor rash (itchy) on my legs every morning. How long will this continue? I stopped taking fish oil, a recent addition, in case this was the culprit. I also got a severe rash from hyzaar blood pressure medecine. I have also been taking very low doses of xanax for a year now. ## Unfortunately, allergic reactions are always possible, and if you've had a reaction already to a medication, in the past, there is a good chance...

I have stage 1 chf. I had a mitral valve replaced with a St Jude valve. I am taking 25 mg of Coreg twice a day. Wouldn't a pacemaker keep the heart rate up? Do I still need Coreg? I exercise regularly, eat a heart healthy diet and have no symptoms. ## Congestive heart failure is caused by fluid build up from elevated blood pressure, and usually elevated sodium levels. Your heart starts to become so stressed that it weakens and can no longer pump properly, which causes blood and fluid to back up into the lungs, a person develops edema, and usually starts to experience tiredness, and shortness of breath. Thus, it is very important to keep your blood pressure regulated, too, not just your heart rate. You can learn more on Medline Plus Heart Failure. A medication, such as Coreg, can als...
