I am a doctor and I have a weird problem for quite sometime. My left eye used to drains tears ( don't know how to frame it correctly). I had to wipe my eyes every few minutes. A few months back I self diagnosed myself with hypertension, although now I believe I am not hypertensive. I started taking metoprolol and to my surp rise, the drainage from my eye stopped. I have tried stopping metoprolol, for a few days and my blood pressure remains normal but the drainage starts the very day I stop metoprolol. I have also tried amlodipine to see if that helps (don't want to continue beta blocker because i have abnormal lipid profile) but that does not help with drainage. No eye pain, foreign body sensation and intraocular pressure normal. If anyone has any experience or information about t

Should Losartan 50mg and Verapamil 240 mg be taken at the same time? ## Hi Billie, Based on my research, there are no drug interactions listed between either of those medications. So from what I can tell, you shouldn't have any problems taking the two together or even within the same time frame. The only thing I would suggest being aware of is that you should avoid having any grapefruit while taking Verapamil or Losartan. I didn't know this before, but apparently grapefruit juice can increase the blood levels and effects of verapamil; increasing one's risk of certain side effects. And on the contrary, it can also decrease the effects of Losartan. You can learn more about each drug on the page for Verapamil Details and Losartan Details I hope this helps!

What's the difference, except the physical size and color, between a "zyd and a UDL. ## Hi, Bulldog! How are you? Going by the information you've listed in your post, the only difference is the manufacturer. Since Amlodipine is a generic, it is made by several different companies. The Zyd stands for Zydus Pharmaceuticals and the UDL is for UDL Laboratories. Learn more Amlodipine details here. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been taking the following medicines: Amlodepine 5mg + lisinopril 5 mg Gliclazide 80mg+ metformin 500 mg Sizopin 100mg Azona 40 mg I want to know can I take these medicines together. Or any interval is required to take the medicines ## @ kckarukachal, I'm surprised that your doctor has you on this many medications. Since they're all used for similar purposes I knew there were bound to be some complications, but I didn't suspect quite as many as I had found. Based on my research, there are several potentially dangerous drug interactions between most of the medications you mentioned. The frustrating part is, doctors are completely aware of these interactions and still hand out more prescriptions without letting people know of the risks involved.... *Using Clozapine and A...

Dear All, I have noticed that, some of the comments are specifically directed to medications that someone is mentioning "cure your pathology". Let me explain something first. For all those persons taking medications for high blood pressure. "The medications you are taking regardless brand name, is not curing your pathology. As your primary doctors call it "they are only controlling your blood pressure". Means; they are giving you a medication to make your heart work a little slower. I found a white heartbshaped pill w / 50 on one side and what appears to be a z on the other ## Based on the description provided, the closest match I'm finding is a white heart shaped pill with "61" on one side and a "b" on the other. This particular pill is identified as Zebeta (10mg); used in the treatment of hypertension and other heart related conditions. National Drug Code (NDC): 51285-0061 I know this doesn't exactly match your imprint, but the markings and shape of your pill suggest that it may be from the same manufacturer: Teva Pharmaceuticals USA It might be worth while to contact them directly to see if it's one of their pills… I hope this info helps!

I have been taking this medication for quite a while and lately my blood pressure has been low. I just took it and it was 126/56/52. Do I have a problem? ## That's not very low. Normal is considered 120/80, with lower being better. The 126 is normal and the 56 on the bottom is slightly low, but not normally a concern if it's not causing you any symptoms, such as dizziness. Was the 52 your heart rate? If so, that is slightly low and you should talk to your doctor about these readings, including the blood pressure. Have you had any tests done recently, such as an EKG? Is there a chance that you're dehydrated? Learn more Diltiazem details here.

Hi I am 49 years old and started taking coveram 5/5 6 month ago. I have noticed that I started having irregular monthly period. My period was always on time all my life. Does this tablets can effect the period? Thank you ## Hi Marina, Based on my research, Coveram contains the ingredients Perindopril + Amlodipine; which are used in the treatment of high blood pressure and hypertension. I haven't seen irregular periods listed as a side effect. Everyone reacts to medication differently though, so there is a possibility that this medication could be having that effect on you. Has anything else changed in your lifestyle that may have disrupted your menstrual cycle? I know (from personal experience) that stress can cause irregular periods. I have been taking medicines for BP. The medicines is changed from one to another like Ramipril 5mg, Losarton Sodium 50mg, Telmisartan 40 mg, etc. I want to know is there any problem in changing the medicines or one should I stick with only one medicines. Please advise. ## Yes, you should find one that works for you, without causing a lot of side effects that make you miserable and stick with it. When you keep switching, your body doesn't have a chance to get used to any medication and for it to reach its full level of effectiveness. Additionally, stopping one abruptly to switch to another may cause a rebound effect, which means your blood pressure and heart rate can bounce back up, so you kind of negate any effect the medication may have had. What medication has your doctor recomme...

Is there a metoprol 50mg with the number 631? ## Hi ambi, Based on my research, I don't believe there is a Metoprolol with that exact marking. Perhaps it could be a number within another set of numbers or imprint, but I'm not finding anything that matches 631 in and of itself. The closest Metoprolol I located is a white round pill with a triangle logo sitting above the numbers "831". This happens to be a 50mg Metoprolol succinate extended release tablet. Manufacturer: Watson Pharmaceuticals National Drug Code (NDC): 62037-0831 I hope this helps to answer your question!

How do I take control when Propolol causes irregular heart beat, dizziness, very low diastolic Bp and slow pulse and your MD refuses to take you off the med and you don't want to have a heart attact going off it? ## Hi, Ruth! If the Propranolol is causing you that many problems and your doctor won't help, then I have to say that it's time to get a new doctor. You aren't obligated to keep seeing him anymore than he is obligated to keep seeing you. You are free to leave at any time. You don't even have to tell him ahead of time, you can keep him on the back burner, so you still have this medication for now, while you start looking for another doctor. If you find one, then you can have your records transferred. Is there anything else I can help with?
