I started using Atenolol 50mg daily in January 2002. For years I considered it a "wonder drug" since it easily took care of my BP issues and had no noticeable problems with side effects. I started noticing earlier this year that my BP was fluctuating more than normal... almost like the Atenolol was no longer effectively regulating it. I also just didn't feel like "myself" though I was still functional at home and work. Over the Thanksgiving weekend I developed Bradycardia episodes... a very slow irregular heartbeat that was approaching 40 beats per minute. These episodes increased immediately after taking my daily Atenolol dose. After the holiday I went to the emergency room and was there for a night in the hospital for observation. is bystolic ever prescribed by a doctor as a temporary drug to lower bp, i.e. if someone suddenly experiences stress that cause a spike? in other words, is this a lifetime prescription or is out possible at some future date to stop once bp is under control? ## Hello, Michael! How are you? There is no cure for high blood pressure, per se…. but yes, there are cases where people have been able to successfully manage it with diet and exercise, so they were able to stop the medications. Of course, it's always doing to require diligence, because there's the risk of it going up again and getting out of control if you go lax on your diet or exercise routine. I was suffering from sinus and headache since 5 years. I have taken a lot of medicine and I have also done ct scans. But I doesn't show anything. I have been on a prescription drug (NORVASC) Amlodipine and Moduretic for the management of my Hypertension for many years now. I am looking forward to a significant reduction in my BP situation but this is yet to come. I have the opinion that the right drug has not been prescribed for me. I am over sixty years old. Please help. ## Hello, Dubala! How are you? What are you current levels? It is possible that you've just not found the right medication or combination of medications to properly do the job for you. However, on top of the medications, are you also watching your diet to keep your sodium/salt low? That is also very important to lowering your blood pressure, so is lots of proper exercise.

Given to me by Pharmacy 12 December. My usual Enalapril Maleate Ta 10mg (ACE) pill is a light salmon coloured triangular shaped pill. I fear I have been given wrong medication. It could be due to one of the inactive ingredients in the generic, they don't have to be the same as those used in the name brand. To avoid the problem, you may want to ask your doctor to prescribe it as brand medically necessary, so you no longer receive the generic fem your pharmacy. i know of which side effects and benifits??? ## I AM TAKING aten -25 from last 15 years,for high bp. i have developed in my neck[some enlarge gland dr,is telling me that it is due to medicine clear my query ## I have been taking one tablet of Atten-25 for the last 15 years after my open heart bypass surgery for blocked artraries. I was prescribed Cardace-5, Atten-25 and Ecospirin-150 to be taken after lunch every day for life. Of late my blood pressure has gone high to 190 / 70. I was advised to take Cardace-5 in the night as well. today my Blood pressure was checked by the Doctor showing 160 / 60 / 44. I have been taking metoprolol tartrate 50 mg 2x a day for a while now, my doctor just told me to now start taking 2 tablets in the morning and 1 in the evening. I am concerned that 150 mg per day is too much. Can u tell me if this is not a safe dosage or if its ok to take that much? my blood pressure usually runs around 140/85 to 158/92 ## Hello, Rhonda! How are you? I understand your concern, that does seem to be a high amount…but it actually isn't for this medication. Metoprolol can be taken in amounts up to 450mgs a day and it is usually started at the 50mg twice daily dosing, then adjusted until the desired effect is reached, which in your case would be lower blood pressure. For those who are user's of Lisinopril let me explain the term as I learned about it last Thursday: Steroid and epinephrine shots didn't knock it down, three attempts at intubation failed before they knocked me out and in those last few seconds I felt metal in my mouth, something going down my throat, a couple really good breaths and the sound of applause. I remember very little of the following day and was released a day later. There is something very unknown and unpredictable about this medicine where you can be on it for years without a problem and have a reaction to it like this! But no, from what I've been able to find, it hasn't been known to be caused by medications. Did your doctor have any ideas why you might have developed GA? Hi, I am feeling ok after taking coveram for almost 3 months so i decided to stop taking it without asking or consulting my doctor. I had my Rx filled for Irbesartan and have never had them from Aurobindo Manufactor. I am questioning if the pills I received are actually correct as I have had side-effects from this generic. I am taking Ramipril (Winthrop) - 1 x 5mg Tablet – Hypertension and Frusemide - 1 x 40mg Tablet – CCF. Over time I have been taking both I sometimes experience stomach upsets and feeling unsure of myself by the middle of the day? ## Hello, Graham! How are you doing? The upset stomach can be a side effect of both of these medications, if it is too severe, you should talk to your doctor about it, they may be able to help you in some way by prescribing something else, or by giving you something to prevent nausea.
