My sister started taking synbicort months ago, at first she was losing her voice, now she is slurring. ## Hello, Stephanie! How is your sister? The hoarseness can be normal, when someone first starts using such a medication. However, the slurring is a concern and is something that should be checked out by her doctor. It may be nothing, or it could be due to something serious like a stroke. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly include dizziness, headache, nervousness and mood changes. Is there anything else I can help with? ## She is doing good. She stopped using it for a few days, voice sounds better. She told dr. He wasnt concerned. Thanks. I appreciate your reply.

have been on Xolair for 10 years had bad asthma attack rushed to hospital anybody else been on that long and has severe attack/ ## Hello, Blonde57! I'm very sorry about what happened. Do you know what triggered it? I don't think any of us allergy sufferers ever find any treatment that works 100% of the time and prevents all attacks, sadly enough, because I am totally with you on wishing there were such treatments. Did your doctor make any adjustment to your medications? Has anyone else had such an experience with this one? Im wondering if, after 10 years, it may be losing efficacy, because your body has gotten too used to it. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including itching, burning, stuffy or runny nose.

My wife has had asthma since her childhood and she is currently 49 years old. She regularly consumes two types of tablets, Tedral SA and Deriphylin (Plain). I am interested in knowing if there are any side effects to Tedral SA and whether or not it is beneficial. Neither Ayurvedic nor Homeopathy medicines provide her with relief. If she experiences an asthmatic attack, she uses an inhaler pump (Cipla), which provides temporary relief. However, consistent usage of Tedral SA offers her substantial relief. I would like to know if regular consumption of Tedral SA is harmful? It’s important to note that she has been taking this Tedral SA tablet since her early childhood. Thank you and best regards. ## It is NOT advisable to consume Tedral SA on a regular basis, like I did. It creates t...

I'm on Xolair for my asthma and I also have liver damage from a blood transfusion, which gave me Hep C. Does this medication cause more damage? I just did a12week treatment with Harvoni. ## Hello, Diane! How are you? I'm sorry about your health issues. It may, Xolair is processed by the liver and should be used with caution in patients with impaired liver function or damage. Is your doctor monitoring you regularly? The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as including pain, fatigue, earache and dermatitis. Have you discussed your concerns with your doctor? Are you on any other medications?

Too large to be Ecstasy. I think.. Can anyone pls help.. I have a feeling this could be related to a number of other meds that were for someone overweight with blood pressure problems and or other bronchial things.. Nonetheless i can't find a definition? or comment of any kind..

I am allergic to sulfa drugs and currently have bronchitis. One of the things prescribed to me is ventolin hfa it says it has albuterol sulfate should I be concerned? ( I did tell the Dr that I was allergic to sulfa drugs.) Two more questions, I used to get really itchy tiny bumps on my back. The doctor never could figure out why, but I started looking at the ingredients of shampoos and saw that most of them had sodium lauryl sulfate. This was before I was ever diagnosed with an allergy to sulfa drugs. Is there a connection with sulfa drugs and sodium lauryl sulfate? Last question, the last two times I've colored my hair the guy gave me a burning sensation on my scalp. It wasn't so extreme but definitely noticeable. The ingredients contain sodium metabisulfite is that yet anothe...

I have been on xolair for over a year now. After the first 3 months of treatment, I lost a lot of hair during the next few months. Much more than the normal nightly loss but doctor denied that xolair had anything to do with it. I know better. Hair loss stabilized around the 6 to 7 month period. I'm very lucky to have had a lot of hair to begin with or I could have been bald by now. ## Hello, Mark! How are you? Hair loss has been noted by the FDA as being reported in post-approval use. Since it's not listed among the typical side effects that were compiled pre-approval, then your doctor may not be aware of it. Other side effects are listed as possibly including dizziness, ear pain, joint/muscle pain and dry mouth. I'm glad it stabilized for you. Are you back to your normal lo...

After twice being prescribed Pulmison as part of the treatment of allergic asthma I got severe muscle cramps about 3 days after stopping the course. The first course in April was for 3 days and the second in June for 5 days. The muscle cramps were so severe that I could not walk. Both calves and feet cramped up. Bending over to try and rub them meant my diaphragm went into spasm and then may back and then my neck and forearms and fingers. It was unlike a usual muscle cramp in that I was unable to release the cramp with warmth, massage or pressure and that the cramps kept moving around. This happens usually at night and lasts for a couple of days. I do have quite a magnesium rich diet so I am sure it is not a lack of magnesium and certainly didn't feel like the sort of muscle cramps ...

My daughter has asthma and got very ill suddenly with severe trimmers, stomach aches and vomiting. The doctor prescribed zerodol but she's still vomiting what do I do she is 33yrd old ## Hello, May! How is your daughter doing? I'm very sorry that she's ill. Zerodol contains the active ingredient Aceclofenac, which the FDA classifies as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. It's most commonly used to treat pain, fever and swelling. Typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. It sounds like she may have a virus and, if that is the case, the only thing you can really do is wait it out. However, if the vomiting is severe, her doctor should be consulted again, because they should be able to prescribe so...

Hi there. I have been using Adco Fem for 2 years now and have had no problems. I have had to take Minerva for a month as the chemist had no stock. I suddenly had asthma and coincidentally when I stopped the Minerva the asthma stopped. I have now had to use the Minerva again and this time got really strange heart beats and dizziness. I thought Minerva and Adco fem was the same?

My I have a drink while on Montair FX? ## Hello, JB! How are you? It is best not to imbibe, while under treatment with any prescription medication. Combining them with alcohol tends to worsen the side effects, causing one drink to affect you as if you'd had 2 and so on. MIMs lists this medication as containing Montelukast and Levocetirizine, it is most commonly used to treat allergies. Due to the typical side effects, drinking may cause them to be more intense than usual, so you may feel more dizziness, drowsy and dry mouthed than normal. However, if your doctor okays your indulgence, then please be sure that you are not driving or operating any dangerous machinery. Is there anything else I can help with?

Please: I'm currently on my 4th Asthmanefrin unit, the local stores have exchanged it so far. Now I can't breathe and the unit won't work. I have the racepinephrine liquid refills but no way to get it into my system. Any suggestions for middle-of-the-night/emergency delivery methods?? It doesn't matter how you clean it; this is a flawed product that only works for 1-4 months. ## Hello, Destined! How are you doing? If you're breathing gets so bad that you are in emergency status, you should call 911 for assistance. As to the Asthmanefrin, since this is an over the counter product, you will likely have better luck if you contact the manufacturer about the issues. They list a contact number as 855-999-3926. Do you have any prescription products you use for your asthma? ...

Is this combination available in the USA? OTC or Rx? What brand names are there? ## Hello, Chautauquan! How are you? I'm sorry, but this combination is not available in the U.S. Both are available, separately, under the brand names Singulair (Montelukast) and Xyzal (Levocetirizine) and require a prescription from your doctor. The FDA lists the typical side effects as including dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and funny taste in mouth. Is there anything else I can help with?

Posted a few entries before. Still using the ultrasonic cleaner but with cold distilled water. Basically they give out in a few months and I have to buy another medicine cup. I wish Nephron would re-design this so it would last a lot longer. ## Hi Glenn, I believe I responded to one of your older entries on the site the last time you posted about this ultrasonic cleaner. Amazing that those medicine cups hold up as long as they do, but it sounds like a marketing ploy to get you to keep buying more if you ask me. One thought though is to contact the manufacturer directly and see if they have a "black box where suggestions go" - in hopes that they'll take the hint and run with it Lol. As a child, I was given Marax to help when I had an asthma attack. I remember being afraid to take the Marax pill. It would make me sleepy. When I would go to bed I would feel paralyzed. I had the feeling that if I allowed myself to fall asleep, I would die. It felt as though a great weight was pressing on my body. I couldn't move. As an adult I have learned that I may be malignant hyperthermia susceptible. I am curious if there is a correlation between the drug Marax and malignant hyperthermia. ## Hello, Kathleen! How are you? I'm sorry about everything you've been through. It's a shame that as a child it wasn't explained to you that those are all just symptoms of dreams. Sleep paralysis like that occurs in many people and is fairly common, especially under the infl...
