Has anyone taken Paxlovid for Covid? I was prescribed this medication and could only take 2 of the 5 day prescription due to the awful side effects. Number one was the medication made me feel worse than I felt before taking it. Number two.... It literally felt and tasted like someone was continuously spraying hairspray down my throat for hours until the dose wore off. For me, the side effects were much too harsh and bothersome and unfortunately, couldn't complete the 5 day prescription. Has anyone else had any experience taking this medication? ## I was prescribed Paxlovid for Covid in August. Within 3 hours, I felt like a new woman! Seriously, the cough lessened up, the fatigue lessened up and I could breathe again. The milder symptoms did persist for about a month or so though. Th...

Hi. I was treated for chronic Hep C 20 years ago and been having continuous health problems arise over past 5 years. I would like to know if it’s true that these issues are related to the interferon-ribavarin therapy taken in 1999-2000. I took sports 3x week. Diagnosed with mild Cirrhosis meld score 6. I have developed hypothyroidism at time of tx. Thyroid began to function again until 2015 now have hypothyroidism again, trigeminal neuralgia, fibromyalgia, positive ANA and being tested for PBC. I also have chronic pain, fatigue, depression that comes and goes, and PPPD. ## Have not received any response. Could someone please advise me on possible side effects 20 years post interferon-ribavarin therapy. Shots were taken 3 times per week and therapy was for 6 months. A physician rec...

Looking for a place where I can order generic Famvir (Famciclovir) over the counter. Silly as may sound, I have several cats/kittens (rescue) with kitty colds (feline herpes virus) & best treatment is Famvir. Literally amazing how quickly & well it works, often without need to give antibiotics (since FHV is a viral illness, but it can lead to secondary infections in which case antibiotics may be warranted). Since many know I do rescue, several send me their left over meds commonly used on felines, however at moment none happen to have any Famvir (Famcyclovir). My vet has written scripts several times in past without need to bring in for actual visit, as he is well aware I do rescue & my only income is SSDI, however his wife who manages office is a stickler for enforcing offi...

What are the symptoms of Coronavirus? ## My husband works at a hospital, he's been a radiographer for almost 25 years, now, they are told to watch for fever, dry cough, fatigue/tiredness, and shortness of breath. If anyone comes into the ER experiencing these symptoms, they have to gear up for protection, and isolate the person, just in case. As was already stated, the CDC has a great information page on it to help the public. This is the information used by ERs in the U.S. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Fever. Cough. Shortness of breath. This is from the CDC. Stay home even if you don't feel ill- everyone needs to stay home so we can flatten the curve. Less people will die if we all stay home. ## I would like to get the latest information on coronary virus symptoms ...

I purchased clorixan 200 ml in Mexico for cold sores. I take one pill as soon as I feel a sore developing. It has worked so well that I would like to keep them on hand. What exactly is clorixan? ## Clorixan contains Acyclovir, it is an antiviral that is commonly used to treat most herpes simplex viruses, both genital, and oral, which is why it works so well. I take it myself, twice a day, every day, as a preventative, because one of the medications I am on can cause horrible cold sore outbreaks, which landed me in the ER several times, with several swelling in and around my mouth. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, diarrhea, taste disturbance and drowsiness. It is available in the U.S. by prescription, so you might wan...

I've been on xarelto for a year because of heart afib. Because of the flu I've been given tamiflu. Checking online shows a study where there were many bad interactions because of this combination. Is this really the case? ## I am in the same boat today. Did you ever get a response to your question? Thanks! ## Hi Jim & Sally, While I personally haven't come across the types of reviews concerning bad drug interactions between Xarelto and Tamiflu, I did look up the drug combination at the University of Maryland Medical Center ( / drug interaction tool) to see what all the fuss is about. However, no drug interactions or contraindications were listed. Although this does not necessarily mean that no interactions exist, it is my understanding the two are generally regard...

Quite a few years ago, when I was in the army, I came down with a very bad case of the flu. I went to the med bay and they gave me a packet of meds with 6 doses and told me to take one every 4 hours. 24 hours later I was finished with the pack and whatever kind of meds I had taken had burned the flu right out of my system. At first I thought it was a Z Pack but I have since learned that Z Packs don't work on cold or flu. Can anybody tell me or give me an idea as to what kind of medicine I was given? ## Hello, Gabriel! How are you? It was likely an antiviral, since the flu is caused by a virus, so some of them used to be prescribed to help knock it out of someone's system. However, taking them too frequently for too long, such as some med students would do, could result in overdo...

Has anyone heard about the product called Dynamiclear? It claims to be able to treat cold sores without using antiviral medications. ## I've tried it and found it to be pretty good. It stings like hell when you first put it on and sometimes it takes a few goes to have the full effect. ## Hello, Glenda! How are you? The most important thing to remember here is that cold sores are caused by a virus, so most products that don't use any type of antiviral won't have much effect. Additionally, as explained by the NIH, antivirals can help prevent them, which is much better than experiencing a flare and trying to get it to heal up faster. The only ingredient in Dynamiclear that I see listed that's been shown to help, at all, is Lysine, it has been shown to help shorten the durat...

I took peginterferon shots once a week with 6 ribavirin tablets a day. I had skin reactions and scatched all the hair off my body in my sleep from my neck down. I may soon go back on the treatment since they have a second shot (don't know name) and they think I may have a chance. Is there anything to counter the ribavirin reaction and rash? ## Have you discussed it with your doctor? You may be able to use an antihistamine to help prevent it from happening, again, but only your doctor can help you decide if it's safe for you to use one. ## I did the 48 week course of Interferon & Ribavirin. At the end of it my Hep 'C' was gone; six months later it was back. I too am about to start the same course again but with an added new drug, one of a possible two. They're sti...

The very best way to detox your system of any drug is lemon water at room temperature. Prob for 2-3 days. This makes an acidic body turn alkaline and changes the chemicals and the way they effect the body. Also organic virgin coconut oil at 1\4 cup a day will speed metabolism to increase this process. Coconut oil has about 30 different benefits for overall organs and total body function. Universal, antiviral, antifungal. Start slow or it may make you jittery or upset your stomach. ## Thanks for sharing this info on coconut oil and lemon water. I too am an advocate of using natural alternatives to combat and prevent various ailments. Maintaining an alkaline environment has been proven to offer a multitude of benefits in and of itself, but the added attributes from things like coconut oil...

Does anyone have experience using Relenza to treat or prevent the flu? ## Hello, Ldkat! How are you? I've never taken it, I usually opt for the flu shot each year, but I can tell you more about it. It is an antiviral medication and if taken, before you actually have flu symptoms, it can sometimes prevent it entirely. Otherwise, if taken after you have it, it helps prevent the virus from replicating in your body, which can lessen the symptoms, their severity and the duration of the the flu. The most common side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include diarrhea. nausea, headache, dizziness and cough. Are there any other questions or concerns?

I had been taking a blue capsule N940. My new pharmacy uses cti 111. The newcapsulesare not as effective as the N 940 in terms of ameliorating symptoms. I got a refill for the cti 111 at a different pharm, thinking maybe their drugs were older at the first one. I've taken a few of the N 940's that are now years old and they are still better at diminishing symptoms than the ctis. What's the story? ## Hello, Suzy! How are you? There can be some slight fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredient from one generic to another. However, since this an antiviral, the difference shouldn't be that significant. Have you consulted your doctor about the problem? Learn more Aciclovir details here.

Can I use the antiviral cream the lab made up for me for shingles on the corner of my mouth still? This was iin May. I still have half a container of the cream. The expiration date is 6/23/13. It worked really fast last time i broke out. Thank you! ## Hello, Sandra! How are you doing? No, the cream should really be disposed of and you should contact your doctor for a new prescription. Creams, liquids, ointments and the like tend to degrade very fast and not only can they lose efficacy, but they can also go rancid. Thus, it's just not a good idea to use one that's expired. Is there anything else I can help with?
