Updated in ZyprexaIs a dosage of 400 mg of seroquel too strong? Only taking 1 makes a family member sleep in a near coma-state? Also seeing some labored breathing. Should we go to a hospital for that? ## Hello, Jennie! How are you? It could be too strong of a dose for them. The sleeping isn't a major concern, because that usually tends to improve, once their body gets used to the medication, but that may take 4 to 5 weeks. However, the labored breathing is something that should be addressed by their doctor. The FDA lists the other typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight gain. Are they on any other medications? ## Yes, she was prescribed 800 mg of Seroquel but only takes one per day because sleeping so much. She is also prescribed...
I was asked by my doc to start taking 2mg of Abilify because after taking 20mg of Celexa a month I'm not feeling much relief. I'm very leery because I've been working on straightening out a thyroid issue that has caused me to gain ten pounds in the last two months, and I understand that Abilify is a weight gainer. Do the benefits of being on Abilify outweigh the side effects of being on it? Please give me your thoughts and experiences. Remember it's only a 2mg supplement to the 20mg of Celexa I've been on. ## Hello, Rocky! How are you? It is approved as an adjunct to antidepressants in doses from 2mg to 5mg daily. It may cause some weight gain, as listed by the FDA, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and sedation. However, most side effects are transie...
hi, I've been taking quetiapine now for a number of years. I started out taking the extended release version of the drug for a couple of years, then was switched to the standard version around three years ago, as I suffer from insomnia, and cannot get to sleep without some kind of assistance, even where I haven't slept for days. I'm on 800mg per day, with 300 being taken during the day, and the remaining 500 being taken in the evening time. I suffer with paranoid type schizophrenia, and I do find that taking seroquel seems to keep the psychotic symptoms reduced to a manageable level. However, I've been suffering with side effects that include seizing up, where my whole body seems to contract, which can be extremely painful, I find breathing becomes a problem, and I can b...

Athletes help??? ## Hello, Billy! How are you and your friend? I'm not an athlete, but I can tell you that Risperdal can cause some very problematic side effects, as listed by the FDA, such as severe somnolence and weight gain, so it can really slow the body down and make it harder to maintain stamina and good physical function. Other side effects may possibly include drowsiness, sedation and dry mouth. Is there anything else I...
After taking Resperadal for 9 days I suffered an episode where I lost the power to understand simple documents and had a weakness in my legs. With 30 minutes my speech was seriously affected, I stammered, repeated words and repeated nonsense sounds practically constantly. That was 10 days ago. Since then I have bout of loss of comprehsion, some weakness, but that has improved and my speech, which was getting better has today regressed to about Day 2. I also have episodes in the night were I wake up repeating nonsense sounds. Sometimes they stop when I wake up, sometimes they go on for minutes after I wake. Has anyone else suffered from these side-effects (this is what I was told these symptoms were). Anyone offer information on how long they last, anything that can help? Thanks! ## Hell...
Can anyone help me? I am tortured by my lack of sleep, i would be very greatful if there is anyone in san diego that could provide me with some seroquel. I am afraid to go to the doctors and be diagnosed with bi polar, out of fear that it could affect my profession. Hopefully well talk soon.Rich. Editor's note: Contact information has been removed. Sorry, but we do not allow or promote any illegal methods of sales. ## What else have you used to try to remedy your insomnia problem? Seroquel, which is most commonly used to treat Schizophrenia is not the first choice to treat insomnia, nor is it the only option. Additionally, even if you see a doctor and are diagnosed as bipolar, or as having some other condition, it is none of your employers business, unless it affects your work in som...

Ive been wiening myself off it as per doctors instructions (only having half a tab per night. I had my last half last Tues & hav had bad insomnia every since have only slept a few hrs some nights. Absolutely none most nights so am wondering how long this is gunna last? :( Thank you ## Hello, Tina! How are you? I'm sorry about your insomnia. That is a typical withdrawal effect, as listed by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, foggy headed feeling, diarrhea and rebound depression. It may take a month for the symptoms to entirely go away, though they should gradually improve and not be as severe. Is there anything else I can help with?
I was on 5 mg of saphris for 3 weeks and hadn't felt that good in years from my depression. I told my doctor it was a wonder drug. My doctor said he hadn't heard of such a positive report. Soon after with no changes the depression returned. I want the depression to be lifted again. Any ideas? I don't see my doctor for another week. ## Hello, Jerry! How are you? This dose is likely not high enough to continue helping you and you will most likely need a dosage adjustment. This happens frequently and such medications are quite often started at a low dose and then titrated up, until you find the one that works well. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. Is there anything else I can hel...
Why are they or have they stopped producing Stelazine Tablets, only do the syrup now?? My son relies on the tablets, Please give me an answer ## Hi Heppsy, The only information I've come across in regards to your question, is that the Trifluoperazine (The active ingredient in Stelazine tablets) may have been recalled for a couple different reasons. One possibly being that the testing of the product's stability indicates that it may not maintain potency over shelf-life. I'm not exactly sure what that means, but I think it could mean that the product (medication) may not last through the expiration date, as it should. Unfortunately I'm not sure if the Stelazine (Trifluoperazine) syrup has been taken off the market, you may want to ask your pharmacist. If it's no longer...

Hi, I took Invega tablets usually 12mg and sometimes 15mg for a total of about 6 months and I was wondering how long it would take to get out of my system completely and if there was any way I could get it out faster? Maybe there's something the doctor can prescribe that would help get it out faster. I'm a bipolar schizoaffective and I just have a lot of mind racing and manic and depressed episodes but when I took this pill and it built up about a month later I nearly committed suicide. I've talked to my doctor and he's decided to take me off the pill and just keep me on mood stabilizers. If anyone knows how long it should take to get this out of my system and if there's any way to get it out faster please let me know. Thanks. ## Hello, Eric! How are you doing? I...

Does any women have problem with not having a regular period or any at all? sometimes I have spotting and I know this is from the saphris as there is no way I could be pregnant. ## This isn't listed among the side effects of Saphris, as provided by the FDA. However, most medications that work on brain chemicals can also have an effect on hormones and may cause irregular cycles. Have you spoken to your doctor about it? Are you on any other medications? The FDA lists the typical side effects of Saphris as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, weight changes and mood swings.
