I have been taking neurontin for 3 mnths with no side effects but the other day I had citra soda and was sick the following a.m with the runs and nausea! I hadn't eaten anything out of the ordinary but felf ill at the thought of eating anything I had eaten the day before. Stomach cramps and lethargy? I seem to recall that you can't mix neurontin with antacid meds?? ## The reason for the warning about taking antacids with Neurontin is due to the fact that it can cause your body to absorb less of the Neurontin than usual, so it may not be as effective. It is recommended they be taken, at least 2 hours apart. It should not, however, cause the types of symptoms that you've experienced. Have you contacted your doctor?

My mom had a craniotomy one month ago. She is still in rehab. She experiences nightmare-ish hallucinations though. They give her trepeline in the evenings toghether with her epilepsy medication. Is Trepeline given for depression (depression is common for craniotomy patients). Anti-depressants can cause hallucinations. Will Trepeline be the culprit? ## What does her doctor think is causing them? Some antidepressants can cause them, in some people, but it's really difficult to say whether it's solely the medication, the craniotomy, or perhaps a combination of both.

My mother has been taking Gabapentin 600 mg, twice a day for several years. Recently her Dr. Lowered her dose to 300 mg twice a day. He said the FDA would not allow him to give her a larger dose because of her age, 93 years old. What can you tell me about this? ## It's been found that with some medications, such as Gabapentin, the elderly are more prone to experiencing side effects and/or severe complications. It has seriously endangered the lives of some of them, when their doctors weren't monitoring them closely, so the FDA has started a recent crackdown and can hold the doctors responsible for such harm. The concern has gotten so great, that many insurance companies are just refusing to cover the medications for anyone over 65, or so. Is there anything else I can help with? #...

My daughter IS TAKING SIEZURE MEDICATION, LAMICTAL. AND DILLANTAN AND STRATERRA, WILL THIS MEDICINE BE ALRIGHT TO TAKE FOR PAIN ## Hi Angela, Phenazopyridine is used to relieve the pain, burning, and discomfort caused by infection or irritation of the urinary tract. It is not an antibiotic and will not cure the infection itself. Although it may relieve some pain caused by certain urinary conditions, it is in a class of medications known as an Interstitial cystitis agent. This is in general is not a pain medication and in my opinion shouldn't be relied on if the pain is anywhere else but in the urinary tract. On another note, phenazopyridine does not interact with the other medications you mentioned, so if in fact your daughter does have pain in urinary tract, then it would be suffic...

i had shoulder surgery 2 days ago and it is very painful. i have lots of this med left from when it was originaly prescribed for deep pain in 1 of my legs. i was told that a nerve that was too deep in my leg could not be accessed and this would help. my concern is if i take it now could it help with the pain from my shoulder surgery. or is it not a good idea ## Have you consulted your doctor about what you should take for the pain? Lyrica is not actually an analgesic, so it won't help immediately with pain, such as that which occurs after surgery. It is an anticonvulsant, which can also help with certain types of nerve pain, but for it to do it must be taken consistently for several weeks, before it really has much of an effect. ## funny you should mention that! it has now been sinc...

patient takes two Triptyline per night together with Phenytoin sodium 100mg x 3- patient is hallucinating ## Has their doctor specifically prescribed them all to be taken at once like this? If they are suffering from hallucinations, it could be due to having to much of one, or both of these medications, at once and the dosages may need to be split up, so they are taken throughout the day. Has their doctor been consulted?

does grapefruit metabolises phenytoin sod ext 100 mg cap? ## Grapefruit juice slows the breakdown of several drugs; however, information that I was able to gather on this topic puts phenytoin on a list of medications that have no significant interaction with grapefruit. Drugs in this section have all been studied with grapefruit, and found to have either a minimal/negligible interaction: That said, grapefruit will have little (if any) effect on the metabolism of phenytoin. I hope this information helps!

can I take cherratussin while I am on lamictal ## I have been on Lamictal for several years and have been prescribed and taken it several times during that period. I have also taken vicodin and percocet for pain when needed. If you're taking lamictal for BPD (as I am) the danger is not physical. If you tend to the more manic side you should be careful with any medication that has a possible side effect of euphoria. ## I was prescribed cherratussin, what is in it and is there a narcotic in this medicine?
