my pill is white oblong I was just wondering what the difference is regarding the info i have noted in the subject area, versus the 58 59 and letter v you indicate on your info. ## Sulfamethoxazole with Trimethoprim is the generic for the antibiotic Bactrim and, as a generic, it is manufactured by several different companies. So the only difference in the 2 you've mentioned is that they have been manufactured by different companies. By law, even though the medication and dosage may be the same, each company has to use different imprints, so if there would be an emergency, such as accidentally tainted product, the manufacturer can be identified, so the matter can be properly handled. Is there anything else I can help with? Learn more Bactrim details here.

I am 17weeks pregnant and have a vaginal infection and my doctor prescribed betamox 750mg to take 3x a day after meals.. Is this safe?? ## Betamox contains the active ingredient Amoxicillin and yes, it is considered safe for use during pregnancy. And to be honest, it would be far more dangerous for you to leave such an infection untreated, than it would be to take an antibiotic to treat it. However, you may experience some side effects, such as nausea, dizziness and diarrhea. Are there any other questions? Learn more Betamox details here.

is iit normal after 3 days on erytromicine( received four time daily) the child still to have 38 degrees temperature ## How is the child doing now? Generally, when taking an antibiotic, there should be an improvement in 3 days, but that's really only relevant if the fever was caused by an infection. If the fever was caused by something else, such as a virus, like a cold or flu, then the antibiotic isn't really going to help with that. Learn more Erytromicine details here.

I am currently experiencing a toothache and have also suffered from bladder infections following a vaginal hysterectomy and bladder sling procedure with pelvic mesh for prolapse, which seems to be causing recurrent infections. Could this medication also be effective for treating my toothache? Additionally, what other conditions can it be used for? ## Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic that's usually used to treat UTIs and E. Coli. [1] And the first relevant factor here is that you shouldn't be trying to self-diagnose and self-treat, just because you have some antibiotic left at home. You may not have enough to properly treat any given infection, which creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. That can also be a problem if you take it for something that turn...

My son is 12 months old and was prescribed Sulfameth Trimeth 5ml twice daily. Can this keep him awake? He's been having stomach cramps which I have been treating with greek yogurt to add back the good bacteria. However, he seems wide awake when he should be exhausted and ready for sleep. I'm wondering if a side effect of this medication could be sleeplessness. ## Yes, it certainly can be a side effect of this medication. As a sulfa based antibiotic, it can cause lots of crazy problems and side effects and I actually never recommend it to anyone, unless they've run out of other options. Learn more Bactrim details here. If he starts to show any sign of a skin rash, it's very important that you contact his doctor immediately, as that's usually the sign of an allergic re...

I have been taking tri sprintec (birth control) for over a year now and have been taking ciprofloxacin for a little less than a week. Does this make my birth control less effective? All I've been reading online is that it's one of the only antibiotics that doesn't effect the pill. ## That is correct, Ciprofloxacin is one of the few antibiotics that has been shown not have an effect on the effectiveness of birth control tablets. It may cause side effects, which may include: nausea, drowsiness, diarrhea and skin rash. Learn more: Are there any other questions? ## I have been on the birth control pill loestrin for about 8 months and cipro for about a week ..I currently had unprotected sex (no pull out) am I safe or does cipro affect my BC?!

What is the shelf life of Gimalxina capsule? Mine are dated in 2005. ## Even sealed in the original factory containers, they are only good for about 3 years, so they would be long expired by now. They contain Amoxicillin, which is an antibiotic and they don't get dangerous, per se, but they do lose effectiveness, which ups the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Learn more Amoxicillin details here. The best thing to do would be just to dispose of them properly. Are there any other questions?

For Clavulin 250F, what does the F mean? ## Hi Kerrie, From what I could gather, the primarily noticable difference between "250F", in comparison with other brands that don't have the "F", is the ratio of ingredients in it's formula. For example: "F" has a ratio of 4:1 & "non Fs" have a ratio of 7:1 Clavulin-125F

I had an open sore on my left big toe, and I went swimming in a personal friends lagoon on their resort. A staph infection got into the sore and quickly spread throughout my left leg. The leg swelled to three times its normal size, and I spent three weeks in a hospital, where they bombarded it with antibiotics. That procedure was working, but the antibiotics had trace effects of blood thinner qualities. I am a heart patient that has had nine heart procedures, including a quadruple bypass. I cannot take ANY TYPE OF BLOOD THINNER without hemorrhaging. The antibiotics with thinners in them caught up with me, and I spent several trips to the hospital, severely hemorrhaging from the nose and mouth. I had to stop the antibiotics, and now the infection is starting to spread in my leg again. My...

I have a second degree burn on the back of my arm mid-way between the elbow and wrist that is about 6" by 2" from falling into a wood burning stove after triping over a small dog. I have no blisters, minor swelling, minor drainage, no temperate (98.5), and the wound is slightly pink around the edges. Is this an appropriate anti-biotic to take if there are signs of infection? I've had good results with it in the past. ## Hi Barbara, I'm glad your burn hasn't become infected and isn't causing any sever issues. Based on my research, SMZ-TMP DS oral is a combination of two antibiotics: sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. It is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections (such as middle ear, urine, respiratory, and intestinal infections). I have heard of other...
