I started taking clavamel yesterday. I took three yesterday and one today. I am taking them for both a kidney and chest infection. I started getting pains around my ears and glands last night and when i woke up this morning it got worse with a constant headache at the back of my head. I was wondering am i having an allergic reaction and should i stop taking it or what? ## Hi Amy, Based on my research, headaches are a side effect of Clavamel (Amoxicillin / clavulanate) so you could definitely be having a reaction of some sort. I would call your doctor and let him/her know about this as soon as possible. My lungs have been conjested for six days now. A fever, can't sleep, can't breathe properly, and I have no appetite, lost ten lbs. My Dr. put me on AMOX-CLAV 875mg. Huge white horse pill, twice a day with food. Fever is down, appetite, ? a little better, but I don't have any energy at all. No side affects, lungs are still full of clear mucus. I will continue this medication for the ten days as prescribed. ## Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. It sounds like you're tolerating the medication pretty well if you're not experiencing many side effects. If you want to help speed up the process I'd also suggest staying away from dairy products in general, since they are all mucous forming by nature. In most cases, Amoxicillin usually gets the job done w...

I am wondering what is the best antibiotic to fight MRSA or a Staph infection? I went to the hospital last night because I had a spot that started out as an ingrown hair and has become repulsive. The doctor wouldn't specifically tell me what it was so I'm not exactly sure what it is. Did some research and I think it is either Staph or MRSA. I am allergic to penicillian... So I was prescribed Bactrim DS 120mg. Just trying to figure out how well it fights infection because in one day it went from not really anything to worry about to scary! I have a hole in my leg today and yesterday it was just a red bump... So it kinda worries me. Need answers ASAP please! ## I would try colloidal silver 3 times a day. Saturate the area with the liquid. It is available at any vitamin retailer. I...

I stopped taking after 12 days and on the last day my feces turned white. They are still white 10 days later with severe itching and dark urine. Went to ER for cat scan and all is normal except elevated liver functions. GI doctor says this reaction can last a very long time. Any advice? ## Hi Marsha, Black/clay colored stools, blood in the stools, and dark urine are just a few side effects of Amoxicillin Clavulanate Potassium. The only suggestion I have would be to eat a very clean diet consisting of fruits and veggies and alkaline water. This may help your body to rid itself of the leftover medication faster. Light exercise will also help your body to sweat out any unnecessary toxins. Learn More: Amoxicillin + Clavulanate Potassium Details I hope this info/advice helps!

I have been prescribed augmentin to treat an infection. It seems to be working well as the symptoms of the infection have subsided, however it is causing severe diarrhea. Will this continue for the whole course and should I go back to my doctor and request a different antibiotic? ## Augmentin contains Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid and diarrhea is a normal side effect of it and almost all antibiotics. There is really no way to say whether or not it will continue for the whole course of treatment, medications can affect everyone differently and some people do experience the whole time and some don't. You may also experience nausea, dizziness and a non-allergic skin rash. Learn more: And since it is a common side effect of most antibiotics, switching isn't very likely to help. Ar...

I have an abscess tooth will this medication work for this or is it used for a abscess tooth? Sulfameth/trimethoprim 800/160 tabs ## Sulfamethoxazole with Trimethoprim is an antibiotic, it's a generic for Bactrim, so it may help with the infection that causes an abscess, but that will only be a temporary fix. When you have an abscessed tooth, there has to be an underlying cause, such as a cavity and this will not fix that, so you will still need to see a dentist, or it will just eventually return. And since this a sulfa based antibiotic, which you can learn more Bactrim usage details on here, it may cause some side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. It can also cause an allergic reaction in some people, which may manifest as a fever, hives and d...

I take 7 days two a day and I star to bleeding when I go to bathroom is tha normal??? ## No, bleeding when you go to the bathroom is never considered normal, be it during urination or defecation. It may be the sign of a serious side effect of this antibiotic, Bactrim which you can learn more about here or it may be due to some other medical issue. But regardless, you need to seek medical attention to have it checked out. Is it happening when you urinate, or when you defecate?

They are much higher when a woman is late in her pregnancy, but some have been known to occur if it was taken at any point during the 9 months. Therefore, you should discuss it with your doctor, they may want to do some additional testing to see if there are any problems that have occurred. You can learn more Bactrim details here, but it doesn't seem to list the pregnancy category details. It just lists that it's in category C, which means that animal studies have shown ...

I have a crown which has a root canal done in it. I grind my teeth really bad and was told that I fractured the root canal. I keep getting an absess pocket which I can express myself. I do not have any real pain probably because I can release the pressure. I have taken left over antibiotics (yes, I know I shouldnt!)(IC Sulfamethoxazole and Pen VK at different times). I do not have health or dental insurance and am at a loss of what to do. ## The cheapest solution for you, since you don't have insurance, would most likely be to just have the tooth pulled. And the best suggestion I can make for that is to check around you area and see if there are any low income dental clinics, or if there are any dental schools. They usually have sliding fee scales, so you can have it extracted much ...

how many months is Cip 500 effective? ## Once the Ciprofloxacin has been removed from the oringal factory sealed container and placed in a pharmacy dispensing bottle, which exposes it to the elements, it is only good for one year from the date it was filled. The is the length of time that they can guarantee that it still maintains its full potency, if you store it properly at home. How long ago did you get it?
