prescribed by Dr ## what are the side effects of this med and how does it affect birth control ## Ive taken this medication for UTI. This medication caused me alot of health pulmonary complications such as bronchitis, shortness of breathe, coughing, wheezing and fever. ## @deldre, Based on my research, the antibiotic Nitrofurantoin is used to treat various types of infections. BID means it is supposed to be taken twice daily. According to healthtap.com you should use a back-up method of birth control (ie. condom)while taking Nitrofurantoin. Even though there is little evidence supporting a massive increase in pregnancies with antibiotic use, it is better to be safe than sorry. Use the back-up method during the run of your antibiotic and continue for one week Common side effects may incl...

With that said, it may be best to pay a visit to his doctor in order to confirm that he should continue taking the medication. If ...

can this be taken for infection for a tooth? ## I am out of my doctors area. I have an abcessed tooth. Can I take amox/kclav875/125 ## Amoxicillin with Clavulanic Acid, the generic for Augmentin is an antibiotic and should only been taken if an actual infection has been confirmed present. Taking it when it isn't needed, or if you don't have enough to take a full course of treatment, could cause you to develop antibiotic resistant bacteria. Additionally, if you do have a dental abscess, this will not help with the underlying problem, so you will still need to see a dentist as soon as possible, or the infection will just reoccur. Are there any other questions I can help with? You can learn more Augmentin details here.
