At the suggestion of a hotel doctor I bought Salbutamol inhaler in MX to replace my empty asthma inhaler due to a chest infection. Tried to submit a claim for the cost via my US insurance as they say they reimburse worldwide RX expenses. But now they want the 11 digit 'national drug code' or no payout. I checked the FDA NDC database but: 1. it states all NDC's are 10 digit and: 2. obviously this is not a US product and therefore not in there. How can I find what I need to get my costs back? It is Salbutamol 100 mcg aerosol inhaler made by QUIFA Farmacia. Don't have the box but it is a white inhaler unit with a dark navy blue mouthpiece cap. ## Yes, I don't understand that, since all NDC codes are 10 digits and I don't know how to find it for a foreign product. Can a person be allergic to berberine HCI, 1,000 mg.s? I am taking this prescribed by a Dr. and am breaking out in itchy painful pus blisters on my hands. ## Have you contacted your doctor? It is always possible for someone to be allergic to anything, even natural, herbal products. However you should consult your doctor to discover if its an allergy or something else. If it is an allergy, it is a very unusual one and you shouldn't continue trying to use the product.

My wife & son were both prescibed initially Zyrtec and then after some months the generic Texa 10. My son complained immediately that the Texa 10 had no effect on releiving his symptoms and revetrted to Zyrtec from which he received relief again. A few days later my wife too complained of Texa being ineffective. The doctor and pharmacy assure me that the active ingrediants are the same. Please advise can there be a real difference or is it perceived. ## What country are you in? The laws regarding generic medications aren't universal. I know, in the U.S. generics are allowed to differ in the amount of the active ingredient, as long as they stay within what the FDA considers and acceptable therapeutic window. ## In South Africa

Is taking mucobron forte capsule 3 x a day has side effect for pregnant woman? ## Mucobron Forte contains Chlopheniramine, Dextromethorphan, Guaifenesin and Phenylpropanolamine, it is used to treat respiratory problems, such as the symptoms associated with a cold or allergies. The two concerns here, from what I can find, are the Dextromethorphan and the Phenylpropanolamine, their haven't really been any studies done using the in pregnant women, but animal studies have shown their to be some risk and the Phenylpropanolamine has been shown to cause some eye and ear defects, in the babies of pregnant women that have used it. Did your doctor advise you to use this? ## My doctor advised me to take this because according to her it's already safe since I'm 8 months pregnant. But I&...

my daughter is in turkey and has prickly heat on har chest and face but her anti#histamine tablets are not working. what can she do? ## Prickly Heat, or Milaria, is usually more annoying, than dangerous. Has she consulted a doctor? It is not an allergy and generally will not respond to antihistamines. It basically occurs when exposure to a lot of heat causes blockages in the pores, due to extreme sweating. Sometimes, over the counter antibacterial ointments can help, however, I don't know what is available in Turkey.

cough medication with ivy leaf extract ## can i give prospan to my 3 month old baby? ## Giving any cough and cold medication to an infant under 2 years of age is not recommended, the FDA just issued a warning on this. They have not been proven safe or effective in infants. ## The FDA are mostly referring to drug based pharmaceutical agents. Prospan an Ivy Leaf based cough formula was developed by German reseachers over ten years ago and the safety data strongly indicates it is safe for all ages. I would give it to an under two year old, as long as the cough has been checked by a doctor to be nothing sinister. Yay for mother nature.

Use of practin and dacdanfor weight gain is safe Health? ## No, actually using them for that is not safe. Periactin contains the active ingredient Cyproheptadine, it is actually an antihistamine that is most commonly used to treat allergic reactions. In some people, it can cause an increased appetite and thus, weight gain. Decdan contains Dexamethasone, which is actually a steroid class medication, it is also used to treat allergic reactions and some other medical conditions. As side effects it can cause immune suppression, weight gain and fluid retention. With improper use, both the immune suppression and the fluid retention can put you in serious medical danger. Have you tried consulting a doctor about healthy ways to gain weight?
