Adderall Backorder (Page 79)
UpdatedI take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?
It’s October 31st and basically all Tampa area pharmacies have been out of Adderall 20mg for nearly two months with no known end in sight based on my conversation with a local Walgreens pharmacist earlier today. It’s sad that even the pharmacists don’t have an answer to when the supply will be able to catch up with large back order demand.

Your doctor can prescribe a different stimulant medication.
Can anybody in South Florida (I’m in Broward County) speak to what pharmacy I have the best chance of getting my script filled the soonest during this situation we’re in? I’ve had both Publix & Walmart cancel my scripts all together because of the shortage. My next thought is to obviously try Walgreens or CVS next but wanted to see if anyone has a specific recommendation. Thanks, everyone!

Re: tim (# 1565)
My last fill through CVS was the fastest yet. Of course they were out of stock when they processed my script, but it showed up two days later. Last time I had to wait 6 days and it was only a partial. Also, every time I have picked up my meds its been a different brand. First camber, then activis, then Rhodes.
My psych doctor said he has switched his patients to other meds due to unavailability of Adderall. He had mentioned Vyvanse to me several times but I prefer IR tablets. He does not prescribe Dexedrine but sent out a script for 10 days of Mydayis 25mg AM and 12.5 mg afternoon to try. Now I just have to find a pharmacy who will order them and the cash to pay for them. I have had Teva the last 3 months but the pharmacist doesn't know if she will be able to get them in December. I find the new ones slightly better than nothing. People in a facebook ADHD group have said they have had no issues with shortages in other states. My doctor was stunned to hear that I no longer have to take meds for hypertension as my blood pressure is low now. Makes us suspicious about the quality of the Teva. I don't do much of anything when taking them. Lost interest. So I am existing. If you have good insurance, you might try the Mydayis. It was developed by Shire, but info is on Takeda website for help with cost. I found that info on GoodRx. Not liking the new normal. Lived it for too many years.
Re: Dp (# 1549)
You have found that the Teva still work well for you? What strength?
Jacksonville, FL out again. Had found a non-chain pharmacy that has managed to avoid out of stock since April or so but it's finally caught up. If we can collectively make it through the end of this year it'll be a miracle.
Re: Bp01 (# 1571)
Be prepared for next year. The DEA is again reducing the amount of Schedule II active ingredients they give manufacturers in 2023.
Re: BlessedLady (# 1572)
Seems like the FDA is missing the point,,, yet again. Legitimate ADD patients are being starved out,,, or bled out. Btw, I need a source for the supply info you mentioned. Appreciated.

I'm wondering how this is impacting availability of Vyvanse or Brand Zenzedi. Haven't gotten a clear idea yet. Thoughts?
Re: Cyr (# 1569)
Ridiculous that we have to suffer like that. Unconscionable. Typical ADD ADHD situation. FDA creates manufactured chaos,,, to foster some
ILLUSION of fighting some War on drugs. Pathetic and inhumane.
Re: Cyr (# 1570)
Teva is okay. When I can find it? Teva became so big because of high quality control standards. I've had no problems with Teva, except finding it! Sick of this FDA War on the vulnerable. Unbelievable.

The DEA makes the supply decisions not FDA
Also, unfortunately, many people on these forums take daily dosages much higher than the FDA recommended top limits, and that effects supply and red flags the DEA.
It's a mess. There are WAY bigger issues for the FDA and DEA than Adderall for chrissakes. I am willing to bet $ that more people are hospitalized from Humira, Rinvoq and the immunosuppressive biologics that are on TV every 10 min. The FDA also controls FOOD, and they aren't putting limits on High Fructose Corn Syrup (aka juvenile diabetes epidemic)
I'm not a doctor, make no recommendations and have no financial advantage or personal gain in providing this info: If you are in or near Colorado or Massachusetts, this herbal product that goes by the name "Genius" was formulated as an alternative to Adderall, for the CEO. The company that makes it is called "1906 New Highs". They also formulated this product for procrastination. I have personally found these herbals to be effective, and they use a patented biotechnology by a company called Lexaria in order to maximize bioavailability or micro dosages. Again, just a heads-up, not promoting... As we discuss efficacy of different generics, same intention.
Eastern WV panhandle here - can't get my 20mg extended release - been feeling exhausted, super depressed, and haven't been able to get just about anything done over here in weeks now.
Re: Larry (# 1579)
I'm so sorry, as I sure do understand. As my doctor once said, it's like suddenly having no light bulbs.... but you still need to read, find things...in darkness.
SUGGESTION... Have you asked your pharmacist about ANY other dosages? I have countless times had a pharmacist answer my questions like this; "Let me see....oh yes, I DO have plenty of 10mg in supply." Or.... "I've been ordering 20s for weeks but my supplier tells me they only have 30s". Arggghh..
Technically I understand why they don't volunteer info -- a doctor prescribes a dosage.... they can't tell you "oh, sorry we only have OTHER DOSAGES." But that's a technicality of the professional rules SO PHARMACISTS HAVE ALWAYS taken time to look up EVERY dosage until they find one that their supplier or warehouse has. The first time I was :-0 frustrated until I realized they're only going to respond to what is called in. Same with any medication. A pharmacist won't say "backorder for your blood pressure 20s, but we have 100s of 5s.". Duh ... But the burden is on the CUSTOMER investigate every possibility. :(
