Adderall Backorder (Page 80)
UpdatedI take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?
Re: Gk68 (# 1576)
I can only take TEVA and get it at Costco and use Goodrx. Never had a problem except sometimes they can only do a partial fill. Get the app or go to their site, for the coupon and pricing, but first call them to see if they even have it OR can get it. I'm in Michigan. Good luck.

Has anyone had any luck yet with 30mg IR? If so, can you please provide info such as which pharmacy (e.g. Walgreens, Rite Aid, CVS, CostCo, etc), amount (e.g. 60 pills/30 day supply), and the state or region in which you live?
I am still unable to fill my 30 mg IR (90 pills for a 30 day supply) in southeast Michigan. I normally fill at Walgreens, but have tried legit every pharmacy chain in a 100mi radius; my last fill was in early August.
I have been taking Vyvanse for the last two months (tried concerta for a month, which just put me to sleep). Vyvanse is better than nothing, but still, not very effective (and wears off quickly).
I also have multiple sclerosis, and consequent to being off of adderall, I have repeatedly been forgetting to take my MS meds twice daily. Plus, my exams for law school begin next week, and the anxiety, forgetfulness, inattentiveness, and now, depression, are off the charts.
Any leads on finding it in stock would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
Re: Isobel (# 1583)
I take the exact same dosage (30mg IR/ 60 pills - 30-day supply) and have had luck with CVS recently. I originally had my script at Walgreens and was not able to fill it for over 2 months. I switched my script to CVS and was able to fill it with no problem last month and this month. The manufacturer is Sandoz and they seem to be keeping it in stock for now. Hope this helps.
Re: Isobel (# 1583)
Adding to my last message - I'm in Los Angeles
Re: Jenny (# 1585)
This is very helpful, thank you! I know we are in different parts of the country, but still, this tells me to start my routine of calls with CVS before trying Walgreens, rite aid, etc… I appreciate it!
Re: Jenny (# 1584)
Can confirm, the CVS in my area has been well-stocked with Sandoz the last several months.
Wow you guys were holding out! Lol thank you for asking that Isobel! I too was able to get a fill at a CVS in Jacksonville, FL today. I got generic IR 30mg/30qty but was unable to get generic ER in same mg/qty.
Re: Bp01 (# 1588)
I've told people here to try CVS several times in the last few months lol.
Re: Bp01 (# 1588)
Which CVS was this in Jax? I have called 5 so far with no luck.
Re: Danielle (# 1590)
It was the one on Collins & blanding. 7790 blanding Blvd.
Re: Danielle (# 1590)
Many pharmacies won't tell anyone if they actually do have Adderall or other amphetamine products in stock. Especially in populated areas. Due to fear of being robbed etc. I've called a lot of pharmacies, some tell you flat out that they will only answer in person with a prescription, others actually just lie to you or give you a half true answer, and some will actually tell you.
Re: Isobel (# 1583)
Yes. My pharmacy just got some Teva 30MG IR in.
However, it seems much weaker than before.
Re: HCStymie (# 1592)
That's common and has been covered on this thread
I want to know when Adderall is going to be available so I can at least have an estimate date. Nobody knows when to call their pharmacy and the pharmacy won't tell us anything.
Re: Alan (# 1595)
Depends on your area and pharmacy...
Re: Alan (# 1595)
Not sure why you are saying nobody is. I think you meant you don't know and they're not telling you anything. Having a personal relationship with a pharmacist helps, and they only know what their wholesale supplier/warehouse says. Most pharmacies use AmerisourceBergen, McKesson or Cardinal. And they WILL tell you that. No pharmacy has ever denied to share which supplier they use... THE PHARMACY is less onpo than the supplier. All the different pharmacies all get their meds from the same 3 suppliers. And it all depends on the dosage. They may get a shipment of 10s or 20s but not 5s, 15s, 30s. It takes effort and you've got to stay on top of it.
So just make sure you know that you're covering all 3 suppliers.
Re: Rcma (# 1598)
I asked my physician about modafinil and she said it would not be a good fit for me, I did not ask why - I trust her judgment.
Here’s some info about my experience that may be helpful:
She had me try 27mg Concerta (generic name methylphenidate), once per day, which made me very sleepy.
Next was 10mg Concerta, which was better but not enough/not frequent enough, and then became unavailable entirely.
After that, 30mg Vyvanse, once per day. More effective than Concerta, but wore off quickly.
Then 40mg Vyvanese, once per day. Better than 39mg, still not effective enough for long enough.
With two days left of 40mg Vyvanse, I started call pharmacies again to (1) see if Adderall IR 30mg is avail yet (which I take three times/day - it may sound like a lot, but bear in mind that I have been on it for over a decade and have multiple sclerosis; my MS medication reduces the effectiveness of stimulants), and (2) if not, to see if they have Vyvanese 40mg in stock, since the availability of Vyvanese has been dropping consequent to the adderall shortage.
To my surprise, the pharmacist let me know that they had 30mg Adderall XR in stock, but only 30 doses. I decided to roll the dice that 30mg Adderall XR once a day would be more effective than 40mg Vyvanese once a day, spoke to my physician to get the rx sent in, and managed to get it filled before it was gone.
My ex-boyfriend also has MS and mild ADHD (it is a comorbidity in a lot of people with MS). One of the symptoms of MS (not experienced by everyone, and not experienced all the time, it varies a lot from person to person) is thick brain fog and fatigue. I don’t know how to explain this to anyone who hasn’t suffered an episode of it. Imagine that you are dipped in cement from the neck down, given a sleeping pill to chase with a few shots of whiskey, have cinderblocks tied to your ankles, and are dumped into a vat of taffy. That’s what MS brain fog and fatigue feels like.
My ex had it a lot worse and more frequently than me, and his physician has him on modafinal (brand name Provigil). This is only anecdotal, but for him, it was effective in the sense that it made him more clear-headed/awake, but not as focused. I know, clear-headed/awake and focused might sound synonymous, but I think there is a crucial difference there, especially considering that modafinil is a first-line treatment for narcolepsy, not for ADHD. (Adderall did not sit well with him - he experienced severe appetite loss, anxiety, panic attacks, etc, and methylphenidate made him either tired or jittery, depending on dosage strength).
The bottom line is, talk to your physician about your options. Maybe he or she can try you on a five day trial of say, 18mg concerta, and if that doesn’t work, then a five day trial of 30mg vyvanese, and so on. When I first started Vyvanese 30mg, it was a five-day trial because we weren’t sure what my insurance would do, and she didn’t want me to have to pay a massive copay if it didn’t work.
Best of luck, and hopefully the shortage will end soon!
Has anyone had any luck getting 30mg IR Adderall brand OR generic in NJ? Walgreens in Flemington just called me to tell me they finally have an anticipated release date ...of mid-January!!!
I followed the advice of some folks on here who suggested CVS but the CVSs near me are completely out as well.
Please advise!
