Adderall Backorder (Page 81)

I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

I live in the suburbs around Philadelphia and I've had no issues getting my script filled the last few months from my local CVS (Sandoz). So if it's an option for you, try across the Delaware.

Also small locally owned pharmacies are always a good bet, and a lot of people have said wholesale distributors like Costco and Sam's Club rarely exhaust their supplies. I also had luck at Walmart earlier in the shortage when I couldn't find it elsewhere.

Always ask the pharmacist - in person with proof of a real script in hand - if ANY pill dosage is available. IOW they could get a shipment of 10s or 20s that day and not even mention it because that's how it often goes."well your doctor ordered 30s"... ARGH. Obviously you'll take any dosage but it's on you to ask. And TYPICALLY pharmacies don't have all in stock. In fact, I've walked up to my pharmacist's private consultation window and nicely said."please open my fill history because it will be easier if you see my past scripts.".

Then...
"I know you cannot give out information on controlled substances but you see my order history and before my doctor calls in the order it's really really important to know what dosage is in stock or on its way"

Pharmacist: "ask your doctor to call in 20s, not 30s" or "your doctor may want to consider 29MG XR CAPS "

Me: "Thank you so much "

Modafinil isn't for me. But some find it helpful so I posted it. It actually does nothing for me except a little anxiety. A friend who works 3rd shift says it's like magic for him. Go figure.

As for Vyvanse... A friend of mine was on it and she found that opening the capsule and dissolving it and some iced tea and then drinking it in two or three doses during the day was WAY effective vs the entire pill at once.

Another trick....ALL amphetamines will hit your bloodstream faster and harder in an alkaline environment. So, for example, taking it with Tums or Mylanta has been known to give people rapid heartbeat ... Too intense...and a bad crash feeling. Acidic (grapefruit juice) lowers efficacy. It's Googleable

When a stimulant makes you sleepy it's often an over dosage. . Which is why it's so odd that people say that it's like taking a placebo and oddly if they took half the dosage of the same exact pill they might get the benefit. More isn't more with amphetamines. Blowing out dopamine receptors will have a bad rebound.

P.s. I have absolutely found that taking Tyrosine with my meds is very beneficial.

Honestly... Not to insult anybody because I just lucked out and had a doctor who really explained the art and science behind us... But a lot of problems people have can be attributed to consuming too high a dosage and or an acidic diet, which makes a Big difference in bioavailability and serum levels

Yes I live right on the MS & TN boarder and I too have never had this happen. My regular Dr wasn’t able to see me at my visit so I saw her nurse practitioner who I tried to explain the shortage too and she acted like it was over and no need to worry. Well she was wrong but they did have 15mg and 30mg er available so I called her back and told her that well she didn’t listen and just change my 20mg tab to er so I called her back and left a message again letting her know they only have 15mg or 30mg if she wanted me to do 15mg until my normal dosage came in that was fine but If I don’t have my meds soon im afraid im going to lose my job. Then the nurse practitioner tells me today that she isn’t changing the prescription not Even to a lower dose and told me I need to call around and once I find a pharmacy that has it call her and let her know and she will send another script!! I was in shock bc this is not how my Dr treats her patients I can’t believe she has a nurse practitioner that treats the patients like this. My Dr is out of town and won’t be back until Monday so I made an appointment with her just to tell her about all this and I’m praying she will help find a solution and praying I don’t mess anything up with my life until then lol. It took me years to come to grips with the fact I needed this medication before I started it 6 yrs ago I was a hot mess and couldn’t keep a job and had issues with my relationships due to my illnesses. So I finally started the meditation and seeing a Dr regularly and my life got so much better I have an amazing job that I was doing great at and have had this job for over 3yrs and now I’m scared I’m going to lose it bc I can’t focus and get what needs to be done completed on time and I can’t get to work on time most days since not having my medication. I’ve heard stories of Dr and pharmacist working with patients to help find something that will work until the shortage is over but sadly that doesn’t happen here. Half the pharmacists I’ve talked to trying to find the medication act like I’m bothering them just for asking. Sorry for the long message I needed to vent I guess. If anyone knows of anything I can do to find out if the medication is in stock anywhere other than calling every pharmacy in Memphis, TN or Olive Branch, MS please let me know.

I switched from CVS to Publix hoping the smaller chain would have it stocks. Nope, I've waited 3 weeks. I never had to wait more then 5-7 days at CVS. But I'm scared to switch back. They said December 22nd. Idk.

The pharmacy I have been using since August called me to say their wholesaler was out of generic Adderall. Had no idea when they would get more. My doctor had tried to switch me to Mydayis to try but I could not find a pharmacy who had it in stock or would order it due to the cost to them. Next I contacted OptumRx supplier of online Medicare prescriptions. I was told yesterday they had Teva and it was covered. Doctor sent an e-script. I had put my payment info into their system already. They were supposed to contact me if there was any problem. No contact. I called them today and suddenly they are out of stock. And have no idea when they will get it again. I don't know how you go from having it to being out of stock in the 10 minutes it took for me to call my doctor and have the script sent. Today I was told they have a waiting list. I suppose they should have told me that yesterday. I have spoken to my local Independents. They will only supply existing customers OR cannot get any. And yes, I ask for any strength. I have not gone more than 5 days without them in over 20 years. My doctor does not prescribe Dexedrine. I don't want Vyvanse as I don't like ER meds. They can keep you up all night. I have no words to express how I feel about the DEA and their control. Too much power there. I wonder if there is some Adderall sitting in a store or warehouse in less populated states. Going to be some Christmas season.

Yes, using an antacid 30 minutes prior to taking an amphetamine will make it last longer. Coffee is very acidic and can cause the drug to breakdown faster - so best to stick with white tea :(

No, sorry you have it backwards. ALKALINE potentiates amphetamines, making them hot faster and harder, and there will likely be a crash when serum levels drop rapidly, sooner. This is how in part the oxycontin addiction happened.... When an active ingredient hits hard then drops hard and fast, the result is craving. This is similar to the half life issue. Where the withdrawal and craving and addiction is less when the drug slowly leaves the bloodstream.

I am in the same area you are in, and I'm still waiting. I kept falling asleep at work on Friday. Ridiculous, never ever had this problem in decades. I'm finding myself buying ang over the counter energy pills, etc. that say they help focus, concentration, and energy. Some don't work and sometimes I find myself mixing multiple kinds to just try and help. Getting COVID the same time I ran out of my Adderall prescription wasn't good either. Lol

Article about acidic and alkalizing agent's affect on Adderall. More so on IR than ER/XR. I regularly took baking soda with my Adderall IR. Did not really notice an affect.

By the end of the year. they meant in January, possibly February. The new quotas go into effect January 1. January 1 is a holiday so January 2 will be the first day of production
