Accutane Long Term Side Effects (Page 62)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I have a son that took accutane 60 mg a day for six months in a row three years ago. Now after many trips to doctors over strange medical problems, it seems accuatne is the culprit medication that has caused servere joint and muscle pain, severe dry lips, redness in face, eye infections of own immune system attacking itself, systems of osteoarthritis in both shoulders, both wrist and right hand, blood in stool, possible hair loss, abnormal liver function test results in AST and ALT. My son went from being a high school football and track athlete while taking this medication three years ago to someone that is in constant pain just washing a car. After I have researched this drug extensively, I can't believe that the FDA allows this drug originally made for cancer patients to be marketed for teenagers with acne. All one has to do is look online what vitamin A overdose does to someone and then you have the results of what this medication has done to my son. This drug needs to be taken off them market ASAP and the drug companies that make it need to compensate all teenagers that they have possible ruined their future. Shame on them! What is going on here?

My son is on accutane now at age 20. He was on oral antibiotics and topical treatment which his acne originally responded to, but then stopped being an effective treatment. He commented that there were days when his acne would flare up so badly that he would only go to class and other mandatory activities and otherwise would hang out in his room.

6 months ago, he consulted a new dermotologist in desperation. He is at college surrounded by kids who either never had acne, or got past it a long time ago. After researching accutane we decided it made sense to try it. He does say he is very tired and has to constantly moisturize his face and lips, but for him, he is once again hopeful about his appearance. My husband thinks we waited too long and had him suffer too long before trying it, but reading these posts I think our course was fine. He has only stopped growing in the last year, so having used accutane earlier might have cost him a couple inches.

I also would not have wanted the FDA to have pulled this medication as it has offered him a big improvement in acne. I will say his dr is very thorough in having him monitor for side-effects.

I am sorry for those whose stories have not ended as well. I do feel that as parents, we do the best we can with the information we have, but it is always good to do as much research as possible.

Hi.
I'd like to point out that I have made some new videos on
youtube.com/FireYourDoctor

I'm actually now editing one of them and it should be up soon. I think it'd be great if you could get involved with my suggestion that's at the end of the video. Message me on YouTube if we like. We can change the world for the better if we put our heads together.

I hope you don't mind if, in a future video, I take some things that you have said and quote them. I want to show how terrible this drug is, and not only for the person taking it, but for the families and friends of that person.

Thanks,

Stefan

Im gonna make this short and sweet I took accutane at (15-16 years old). I went from being a handsome Baseball star to somebody with joint issues. I never grew again it fuzed my growth plates and I started to lose my hair. This is insane so many people have had problems like I and perhaps worse with all the other issues it causes. I want to put a class action suite together, they should be held to give back to all the people they screwed over due to greed. I know it ruined my life and im sure it ruined others! I say we put a suite together!

First to Grieving Mom... There are NO words I could even begin to think of to Comfort you. My Heart Breaks for you!. I am Sorry for the PAIN Your Son & Family Endured during this HELL from this POISON of a Drug. I cannot even begin to Imagine what you & your family have been through after the Loss of your son. I Pray that You & Your family become STRONGER each day. May GOD Bless You & your family. May your Son RIP. To Joel, Yes I did say my son was Fine both Physically & Mentally as he was. During a routine visit to his Dr. for a physical (about 15-16 yrs. old ) the Dr. suggested my son see a Dermatologist as he had acne on his face. So off we went to the Derm. after 2 yrs. of Creams and Anti-Biotics the Dermatologist one day mentions ACCUTANE, at that time he wasn't quite 18 yet, after looking at the paperwork, I said no as I didn't feel like a drug like this was suited for my son. So he continued with More of the Anti-biotics and she up'd the dosage on them, still no results. He did not have Cystic Acne he had what she said was Resistant Acne and the only thing that would work was the Accutane. When he became 18 he had the RIGHT to his own decision, at that age We all think we are Invincible and nothing will happen to us. He became fed up with the Creams and anti-biotics so he signed the paperwork and took the drug and the rest is history... BAD History, I might add. Now that he is almost 23 years old he knows he made the WORST Decision ever & wishes he could go back in time but he can't. :-(

Grieving Mother: I am so sorry for your loss. I can relate to the anger that you are going through; I honestly do not know how I didn't kill myself from the effects that it has had on me psychologically - sometimes I wish that I hadn't been so strong. God Bless! Joel

To Nancy and everyone else: I read the postings here on a regular basis, as I am also a victim of this disgusting drug. I, too, have been very angry and have wanted to put the blame on many; namely my mother, my dermatologist, the FDA and the pharm companies. I just wanted to give you all a few of my thoughts after several months of on-going therapy and self-reflection. Nancy, you said that your son was perfectly healthy, both mentally and physically, before he took Accutane. My question is, why was he taking Accutane then? Why was he at any type of doctor if he was both mentally and physically healthy, except for routine checkups? You see, I was perfectly healthy, as well, in my teens. The thing is, I had something called acne; I had some blemishes on my face, nothing horrible, with which I had absolutely no problem whatsoever - they didn't bother me a bit. But it did bother my mother, and that's how I ended up seeing a derm. Today, I now see my own 17-yr old daughter struggling with mild to moderate acne, and despite the fact that it pains me, I have refrained from taking her to a dermatologist, because she is otherwise mentally and physically perfectly healthy. If I were to take her, I know that the dermatologist would tell us both that this acne is a "disease", and will prescribe medication for it. Well let me tell you, many people grow out of it just fine with no medications and leave their physical health and sanity intact. I guess what I'm getting at is that we as a society are so vain as to put our children at risk by allowing them to take medications for non life-threatening conditions such as acne. Now I am not pointing the blame at any parents for trusting their doctors; I am just saying that there is something to be said for those parents who have the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" attitude and refrain from taking their children to doctors for non life-threatening conditions like adolescent acne. So if there is one positive thing that we, as victims, can do, it is to spread the word - I know for one that my daughter will never take Accutane, nor anyone else in my extended family. I know this because since I've discovered that Accutane was the source of decades of pain and misery for me, I have let my family know so no one else has to suffer like I have. Peace to all of you! Joel

Grieving Mother Posting 2nd Letter:
It has been seven months since my son committed suicide. The intense pain is subsiding, but the regrets are flooding my mind. Why did Auccutane hit my son's mind? His intelligence and kindness were so amazing! I would give my life for him not to have taken this drug!
I remember after the first time he took the drug how his face was so clear, we thought it was a miracle drug! Then he told me how his bones ached and his nails were 'different' - but we never dreamed of what was to come. After the second time he took the drug (about four years later), things started to change ever so slowly. The 'drug cancer' killed his brain cell by cell and slowly but surely left only a shell. In the beginning, there were slight changes that he tried to fight off, but inevitably the 'cancer' overtook his mind and his entire body. He became paranoid, made strange and poor decisions, talked about seeing things in the sky, hallucinated, talked to himself, changed in appearance, became quiet and unsocial, etc. Doctors and more doctors came and went, yet we had no answers. As time passed, his mind continued to shut down. After five years of progressive 'mind cancer,' he ended his torture. It was five years of hell for him and five years of hell for his family as he slipped away. Medicines didn't really help, and he was able to hide some of it, but we could see that we were losing the battle.
Never once were we warned anything about this drug other than that he might become slightly depressed. Not once did the doctors say "ah ha" when we told them about his two series of Accutane. The second series was the one that actually took his life, but we'll never be able to prove that it was the Accutane that was the real culprit. Does the drug,Vitamin A, stay in your body? Yes, I think it does. Does it attach itself to the fatty parts on your body? Again, I think 'yes' because as an athlete, he didn't have any fat other than in his brain. Can I prove this? NO, but in my heart I know that this is what took him away from us. The regret is so intense, the tears are so numerous, yet it will not bring my son back.
I will survive because I have a wonderful husband and two awesome daughters who have their own families, but the desire to make the whole world aware of this horrible drug is overwhelming. I just wish I knew what and how to do it...
My heart goes out to all of you who are still fighting the drug effects. Stay strong and maybe answers will come. It helps so much to know that by sharing our difficulties, others identify and care. Thank you and God bless.

To jmsil & Other Sufferers on this Board.. 1st I want to say to you jmsil, my HEART Breaks for you!! If I didn't know any better I would swear the majority of your post was from my son (My ONLY Son) so many Similarities, no COINCIDENCE at all. It is from this DRUG, I know this and I am SCARED for You, My SON and all the Others that have ENDURED the HELL from this Drug. I would name ALL of you but that would take too long, You ALL know who you are. The part in your post that really got to me and HURT so BAD was how you say about Dying to be FREE from this problem, So SAD & HEART-BREAKING to read those words....I do not know your age but that does not really matter, does it?? What matters is that it seems you took this POISON at a young age and those seem now that they were your BEST years, after Accutane (Or Generic) your Life has been a Living HELL.... As has my Son and so MANY others on this board. I have had my son to so many Dr's the last few years, Gastro's, Endo's, Rheumo's,Neuro's,Psychiatrist's, he has had his Back, Liver Scanned, he's been Scoped as he had Ulcer now has Inflamed Eshopagus and HIGH ACID content in Upper Stomach, Had Mini Colonoscopy, I am sure I am forgetting some of the Tests. He now has High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol, Elevated ALT Levels, The Gastro Problems, Back in Constant Pain, Muscle Twitching, Muscle Aches, Cold Extremities, Rashes and Redness in his Face, Severe Dry Skin, Dry Eyes, Dry Mouth and now his hair is thinning, Severe Sleep Issues, etc... So MUCH..... He has been Suicidal, Diag: Depression and SEVERE Anxiety. Keep in mind before this drug my son had NO HEALTH Problems None Physically or Emotionally. He LOVED Life and NEVER had any ailments. When we bring it up to the Dr's, it's the same ole song and dance.... Nah, it's not the Accutane, it's not in him anymore... REALLY???WRONG Answer. I took him to see a Dermapathologist, little more knowledge than Dermatologist, they did 3 day testing on him... Guess what the Dr. said????? That the BODY has a MEMORY in it and the ACCUTANE showed up even though he hadn't taken it for almost 2 years. I now will be taking him to Boston Hospitals and I will be DEMANDING EVERY Test Possible to be done. One thing I noticed with my son was a lot of Dr's kept saying it was his Thyroid yet his tests were all NORMAL.... Well what about the Parathyroid Glands??? I question that, tell you why. In the Phamplet they give with the Prescription it says in an UNBORN Fetus it will Effect the Parathyroid Glands (Parathyroid Hormone Deficiency) and Thymus Gland Abnormality , well if it does that to an UNBORN while the person is taking this drug than what does it do to those Glands in the ACTUAL PATIENT??? I will be Printing out all these Posts to show Dr's that there is a CONNECTION in ALL of You that have taken this S*%$ DRUG... It's No COINCIDENCE. We have to STAND together and FIGHT..Please jmsil, DON'T GIVE UP!!!! Please, I Beg YOU... One of Us is going to find the ANSWER!!! I also have to add that I agree with you to the Posters on here that Posts Positive posts.. They should NOT be on here, go to another Site, I am sure there are sites out there for the FEW that haven't had the LONG TERM SIDE EFFECTS.. After all this site is ACCUTANE LONG TERM SIDE EFFECTS, so if You have None than GOD BLESS YOU, You have been Spared but I must say it still could happen, it didn't happen right away with my son it took a while. He took 1st course no prob. 2nd course still seemed fine, Then BAMMMMMMMM it hit... Please be SYMPATHETIC to these people you never know when this drug could KICK in on you. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!! Together we will find the answers, they are OUT there, we must not GIVE UP!!!

Dear JMSL,
I have just read your reply here. I am truley sorry to hear what you have been through. Please hang in there, we will all have bad days, and some really bad days/ I just spent 30 min writting on change.org on a petition to stop amestemm off the market, which is what my son took. I can't really say I know how you feel when you wrote on here, but I can say how I feel. I watch my son now at 21 years old never to be the healthly person he once was. My kids are my life. It crushes me inside to watch him at times struggling and to read post of others having tears run down my face, cause to an extent, I can feel you pain. Please hang in there, better days are coming. I am hoping soon that stem cell transplants will be the savior in medication for those with long term side effects. You have mentioned to wonderful people I have met on here with Ncc(Nathan) and Oli Girl to name a few. They have got me through bad days and help me understand that we are not alone in the suffering and must work together to continue others everyway we can about the dangers of these drugs. I just tried to post the following on change.org but for some reason my internet explorer kicked me off when I tried to post it... So....... here it it to amyone wanting to read it. As you can see, I was just writing about Ncc too before I read you recent post. Maybe it fate that I was meant to leave it here :) I hope you are feeling better when you read this. My thoughts and prayers are with you!

Together we are strong
Scott

(to change.org)
The list of side effects caused by this drug are almost endless, with the most serious being; suicidal thoughts, birth defects, depression, psychosis, gastrointestinal disease, bone muscle and visionary problems) just to name a few). These drugs have been stated to be harming or killing more teenagers than all vehicle accidents in teenagers combined.
Please go to https://rxchat.com/Discuss/accutane-long-term-side-effects-191307.htm I started this forum in desperation on 5/28/2009 hoping I could help influence just one person to study the facts about Amesteem that to date over 700 people have added many personal situational facts how Accutane and its generics have caused long term effects to them and or their love ones. Even death. Accutane has been available for acne since 1982 and millions suffer from Crohns Disease, Colitis and 100’s of other debilitating long term side effects that individuals are not even aware why they have them.
This is just another dim story how millions of dollars from lobbyist from BIG PHARMA, Like Roche Pharmaceutical Company have slept with the FDA to change facts of the long term side effects from these drugs by working back and forth from the FDA to Big Pharma to lobbyist where money talks and our youth is being destroyed. The FDA and Roche Pharma now have a list of some side effects that are very rare to have just one. Imagine, some people have all of these side effects daily. It may be possible at very low doses many health issues could of been prevented in extremely server cases of acne. We will never know.
Please read some of the many remarks left on this thread. Read the remarks left by “Nccâ€( effects of the mechanism of Accutane on telomeres and shortening the life span of anyone that has used it) and many others. What happened to the FDA becoming more transparent? I am still waiting 6 years later for the FDA to acknowledge they received my complaint sent to them on this drug on my sons behave.
WE must stand together as one and have Amnesteem, Claravis and Sotret, the generic brands of Accutane still available in the USA daily and handed out like candy for acne. I have heard stories that Accutane is still being handed out by dermatologists and PCP’s in the United States.
HOW CAN WE LET THIS HAPPEN?
If people knew up front they were being prescribed a Chemotherapy drug for acne at 14 years old, the truth about these drugs and the very likely long term side effects which may only be present years later, I am confident many would of not made the choice to have their childen placed on them, especially when most dermatologist and PCP tell you ALL side effects will go away after you 6 month treatment of 60 mg a day.
Please help by signing a petition to have all generic brands of Accutane Amnesteem, Claravis and Sotret removed completely from the United States. Please help the cause. Your love one’s life may be saved.

Please try and keep strong people... don't let them win ! I know its very difficult and people whom have not experienced as a sufferer or parent do Not understand.

I was just wondering if any of you noticed worse symptoms with certain foods.. I know my son had horrendous pain in his head twice after i gave him sweetcorn. Which i recently read the yellower the corn the more vitamin A it contains.

Do we know how long the Vit A stays in the body?
I assume that if you keep taking more of maybe the problems may get worse.

I know thats not the only issue after taking this Crap.. Its the way it works and what it does to the cells ,nerves etc,..

It Scarey to think they can give people an antidote for a snake bit that can kill you in minutes or hours but they don't find something to help you people with the effects of this Poision !

Blessings to all around the world x

Heidi..good that you haven't had any bad side effects yet. Sometimes it can take years, then again most people don't realise the connection. my sister has taken this Crap and lost all her teeth in her thirties. She took this when she was in her 20's. Another member of my family had severe Back aches and horrendous Migraine 1 year after taking this too.. We don't always discuss what drugs we take with other people until something really bad happens like with my son.
We are now 13month after stopping the Generic Isotretinoin (Accutane) . My son has had Joint/ Bone Pain since 7 weeks after starting taking this S**t.. He has been hospitalised twice in the past 7 months. He had body shakes, severe Pain in his head that they did a CT scan and Lumbar Puncture as they thought it was pressure on his brain. Chest pains and shortness of breath like he was having a heart attack . Soon he will be 18 and he lives like a hermit.. Had to give up college Feb 2011. He was Training to be a power lifter. He walked 3 mile to school each day and back. He did voluntary work and cycled 4 miles each way on a weekend. He was very fit for a 16 yr old. He has Never been one for being ill . Nor did he like taking pills etc,. He told his Derm he didn't really like taking tablets but the Derm did not listen and still suggested he take them , even when he knew he was weight lifting. The leaflet in the Medication states Not to do Excessive Excercise whilst on the drug. I thought the Derm was the better judge .. i thought surely he knows whether he should be giving this to my son.. He was the one with the Knowledge about the drug.. We were Never told it was a Chemotherapy Drug! We were Never told thet the Joint Pain could be Long Term.
Having being back to see the Derm all he could say was " People in the States have tried to sue Roche but have been unsuccessful" . 3 times he made that statement.. I asked if my son had a Toxin in his body and he replied " No it doesn't work like that ", What Lies they tell us.
This is just their Get Out Clause !

Hi,

It's good to see a few fimiliar faces from another forum...

I've just stumbled upon this forum... I keep reading what I thought was the last pag until I get to the bottom and see there is more, read that l las page, and more, and now I have finally got to the last page, so 've read about 4-5 pages on here.

From what I underatand Scott, if ive got it right in that you've set this forum up because of your son then well done to you. I don't think I've seen a collection of peoples expereinces here that demonstrate just how BAD this drug is. I've read a few people saying they knew relatives that have died from taking this drug due to the illness it's caused with cancer or other internal problems....

Later this year will be my big 10th anniversary since i hit the iceberg, and shortly after will be 9 years of suffering pysically and the emotional turmoil the side effects have given me. It started off with rosacea, and in the last few months my latest problems are headaches... bad headaches which it feels like i get almost daily. If i haven't got one, then it feels like its coming on, a strange feeling in my head. These headaches are also effecting my eyees, and my eyes have really taking a battering over the last 6 years and getting worse. When you get all these pains/discomforts/problems pysically, it doesn't matter how positive you try to be, or how good you try to see things, you cannot escape the reality.

I've got lots of problems and I've been to Privately to see a Liver Specialist around 4 times and Prively to see a Chest Specialist also around 4 times, and never got any answers to my problems. To both I mention Accutane and neither reply about it or ask me about it. They just say something else like I never said it. With the Chest specialist I had xrays and even went into a big tunnel lying down to get proper tests done and still nothing to giveme any answers. All I got was an asthma pump, which I never beleived I had and knew he was fobbing me off. had to ask him about the side effects as he didn't tell me. He said there are steroids in asthma pumps that go into your lungs. I must of just inhaled/used it about 10 times within the first week, becaue i felt pressurised to use it, but never took it again. There 's no way I'm putting even more crap in my body to make me even worse.... for a problem i didn't even have....I went to the doctors, and blew on the test pump and results showed i was normal.. the doctor couldn't beleive why i had been given an asthma inhaler by the specialist when the test showed i didn't need it. The point is i've tried to get help for my problems but get nowhere. I've been to the doctors at least a dozen times since the sides kicked in and so many blood tests, but don't get anywhere. When seeing these specialists, a fw times i see the derm walk past the receptionas im waiting for my appointment, and think it's ll thanks to you that im sat here with all these problems here back now in the hospital seeing more doctors. But that's exactly how medicine works I have learnt. You just get recycled and recysled until they;ve finished you off, getting them rich in the process.

I haven't seen my derm for years and years, but my dad visited him last year for a problem he had, and mentioned Accutne and my problems, and he come up with that old line I seem to hear everyone on here say... that the accutane stays in your body for **insert lie here* and then it goes out the system. It's like all derms are programmed to say this...... by Roche...

It's come to the pint where i just want to end my life, yet im too scared off messing up and ending up in an even bigger mess. What a dilema and situation to be in.....

Because it's the future as well as the present that scares me. What I'm having to deal with now is bad enough, but knowing things will get worse, because looking around that what happens, it's nothing short of mental torture.I don't want it to come to having to rely on medicine/pill to jsut keep my alive, or make my function better. but i know accutane can do this... just by reading others experiences.

why is it that doctors, if you say accutane is the probem, they ignore you, or don't beleive it, and dismiss it? It's happened to me as i mentioned, and everyone else i've read about get the same thing happen. i was lucky enough a few years back to ask dr schulze (natural healing doc) who has his own forum on a poluar natural website forums. The first thing he said was Accutane was "bad news"... and this guy does't even practise western medicine/modern medicine... just herbs, raw foods, natrual things... So if he knows Accutane is bad news, then normal medical doctors, who pratice all this stuff HAVE TO KNOW ACCUANE IS BAD NEWS! ESPECIALLY THE DERMATOLOGISTS THEMSELVES, WHO GIVE THIS S*** OUT!

Indigo mentioned it - at least we have learnt about health. but it's little consilation when my health/body is too ruined to use this knowledge to heal. Nothing works. Roche have adone a fine job in creating the best possible drug to ruin humman health. (and lives)

I've said this before that i can only be grateful that I had 16 years free of Accutane and these ended up being my peak/golden years. It's coming to the stage where i can't wait to die so i can be free from all my problems, and this hell, that Accutane has giving me.

a message to the few who have come on here saying accutane is the best thing ever... can you please stop being so insensitive when people here arereally stuggling in all imaginable ways. jus don't post here.. why are you here if you like is that great now? even if you think accutane sufferers are in a minority (which we're not.. look around...) how can you still possibly justify its worth all this chronic/degenerativve suffering with all types of illnesses/diseases/people dying for the you/ the rest to have clear skin.

It's ridiculous that 30 years since Accutane was released are the way it works - the mechanism of action is STILLL not establised. Does no one care? I remember Oli Girl saying that scientists are looking at the telomere theory which Nathan Carr come up with (Nathan deserves huge credit for that report and give some sort of exclamation as to why Accutane is so destructive) but I wouldn't be surprised if Roche paid off all these scientists for there silence if the telomere thoery proves correct. Because evidence of telomere thoery would probably allow who's suffering from any of the side effects, not matter what thy are, to sue. And I think we all know that Roche know exactly how this drug works, given there criminal activity in the past.....

The lowest of the low...

Hi everyone,

Just a update, yep I have always have had wonderful sugar levels, in fact 80 as of 3 months ago. As of Thursday my sugar levels are 543 Ac1 11.5 and sugar in the urine. Everyone is baffled as I am running around like normal, yet I should be in the hospital not to mention this is all Spontaneous!
Yep, It is a documented side effect Type 1 diabetes! I have no hx in family and very healthy...

So since Taking accutane you add Autoimmnue thyroid, sjorgrens and now possible Type 1 Diabetes.

Yeah.. And today was no better.
I can't cope with work when I'm this unhealthy and depressed. I come home, and my Mum and Step-Dad (who I don't like) ask how my day was.
What am I supposed to do? Lie? I don't have the energy to fake a smile.

My new job is s***. But more so, it's my health and this terrible situation than the actual job. Though I probably wouldn't be working in an office if I were in a better state. I'm meant to be doing music, or something worthwhile. What is the point in my life if I can't enjoy anything? I swear I would have crashed my Car into something on the way home if I didn't have an amazing girlfriend.

Because all hope has gone from me. I was starting to be open-minded. Spiritual even.
But now I just feel like things will get worse.
Oil girl said (in the acne.org forums) that she's now got diabetes. And that someone else had (after 3 years of trying to find out the problem) been diagnosed with autoimmune intestinal system. I feel like I'm just waiting for another bombshell to be dropped.

I've adjusted my life in every possible way I can think of in order to get better, and it's clear that I can't find a way. It doesn't matter what I eat. My digestion (just one problem) is terrible, and something is terribly wrong.

I've spend £100 on something called VSL#3 for it, and after a week I don't see any improvements. Maybe it'll take longer, for I'm taking 900 billion bacteria a day (The VSL) and I thought that'd help.. Looks like another failed attempt to win my health back.

I would do anything, and that's the hardest part. If I was shown a 'how', I would be able to give it everything. But I don't see a how.

It's hard to cope with days like this. I don't know what to do. I don't think I'm going to be able to cope with full-time, but I'm low on money and the economy isn't exactly sprouting opportunities left, right and centre. The only option, really, is to look for another job at the weekends.

They don't teach you about the world at school at all, do they?

Any words of inspiration right now would be wonderful!

Hi Guys.
I started a job today.
I forget what I put in the last comment, but I left my last job in July 2011 thinking something would pan out.

I'm sorry to say, but I feel like absolute crap.
Honestly.
I try my damn best to remain positive, and you may have seen the EFT video I did on YouTube, but it's not working just like everything else.
I just can't see the light at the end of the tunnel.

It's only my first day of work and I feel so f*cking low. Dry eyes make me feel ashamed of how I look, and make me feel paranoid that people are judging me as someone who is stressed or on drugs or something.

I just want to feel good, and get on. I wouldn't be working in an office if this were out the way. I'd be on stage kicking-ass, but that's not doable when I feel like this. My brain just doesn't function properly. Ridiculous anxiety just from having someone sitting opposite me. My brain assumes when they look up at their computer screen, they're looking at me and thinking ("what's wrong with that guy?") Even though I know flat-out they're not looking at me! It's nuts and has gone on for years. I can't do a fu*king thing about it and it's made me miserable.

I really wish I had some kind of faith in God. But I don't feel like anyone's looking out for me right now. If someone had a Gun to my head at this very moment, I'd say 'Shoot'.

All because of the 'miracle' drug Accutane. Why do so many people get off lucky? They even have two courses of the poison? I came off early, because of instinct, but it wasn't enough to save me. Nobody without these problems could BEGIN to understand how it feels.

I wish I had something good to say, but I cannot thing of a God-damn thing. How are my adrenals and thyroid going to be restored if I cannot possibly get rid of this constant stress.

Ahhh! Seriously! Why? EFT is meant to be this miracle thing. I did it for 30 mins - 1 hour for 5 days, and I didn't feel any better.

I guess I'm just unlucky hey?
How much money do I have to waste before I understand I'm never getting my health back.

THIS is why we need to fight these b*stards! Human rights clearly means nothing to these people.

Stefan

Hey Matt,

Thanks for your post- it's nice to see other supporters of this miracle drug on here. Usually when people are posting on anything, it's because they have had unusual or bad experiences. You don't go and look up a product that has worked to write something good about how well it worked, but if it malfunctions you will go on a board to see if anyone else has had this problem... so I believe these posts represent a very skewed picture of the drug, and if polled, most people who took it would say it changed their life for the better. As for me, I went from a hermit who would not even date (due to body acne that I did not want revealed) to a very outgoing person, and without sounding to arrogant, quite beautiful. I am told I look about 10 years younger than my real age (Im 40). I took the drug at age 33.. and only wish I had taken it sooner. I believe a lot of people end up having all kinds of afflictions which would mimick the general percentage of those afflictions, and they are trying to find a red herring- so Accutane ends up being the 'catch-all'. Teens suffer from depression (as did I, and like yourself my depression certainly wasn't helped by suffering from constant breakouts). To peg every strange illness for the rest of your life on Accutane is ridiculous. Anyway, refreshing to see more people out there with similar, great experiences from this drug. And once again, I am appalled at the overdose of this drug from MDs.. this is criminal! these kids are taking hundreds of milligrams a day? the avg dose is 30mg bid, or maybe 35. they are taking 200mg 3x/day? well.. if you took Tylenol in a dose comparable you would need a liver transplant.. Then would you say Tylenol should be taken off the market because you abused it? !!

I took this drug for about three months in 1998 (I was 22) and couldn't be happier with the results. My skin has been clear ever since. Sure the extreme dry skin was horrible, but being a hermit for 3 months was more than was worth it. As far as the depression goes, I'm no expert but I was depressed BECAUSE I had acne, not because I was taking the drug. I will warn anyone that takes it though, the excessive dry skin goes away but my skin has never gone back to "normal", it is still dryer than the average person. Hope this helps anyone trying to make the decision and remember never lose hope :)
