An antiemetic is a drug that is effective against vomiting and nausea. Antiemetics are typically used to treat motion sickness and the side effects of opioid analgesics, general anaesthetics, and chemotherapy directed against cancer. They may be used for severe cases of gastroenteritis, especially if the patient is dehydrated. Some antiemetics previously thought to cause birth defects appear safe for use by pregnant women in the treatment of morning sickness and the more serious hyperemesis g...Read more Nausea & Vomiting Details

Stomach pain when taking Cherifer pgm
Can I take this supplement without having a meal? Are there any unusual circumstances that may occur as a result? I asked these questions because I am having a stomach ache (not severe) after I took Cherifer PGM after breakfast. I am hoping for a quick response. Thank you. ## I suffer stomachache once I take cherifer pgm after dinner. ## Cherifer PGM is a pretty potent nutritional supplement, so it can cause stomach aches, and nausea, in some people that take it. Taking it with food may help mitigate that side effect. Kou, how long after dinner do you take it? Have you tried taking it just before, or during your meal? ## My son is always had a stomach upset Everytime he takes cherifer PGM. What will we do? ## I had stomach ache too nung nag take ako night time na konti lng kinain ko, bu...

Rem Cough Syrup
Info on a cough syrup called REM.It was manufactured, I believe by Maryland Pharmaceutical around the 1940's. I think it had a blue bottle with a orange circle with the name REM printed on it ## I'm sorry, but I can't find any information on this, which really isn't very surprising for that old of a product. There were also many differences back then for what were considered pharmaceutical products. Does anyone have information on this? ## my mother use to give to to us in the early 60's. ## I used it in the 1980s and it worked well. I don't tolerate the chemical ones. I remember REM had ipecac, lobelia, squills and other things...I just remember those because ipecac was used as an emetic and when I looked up lobelia and squills they were listed in an herbal book...

No third withdrawal bleed on trigestrel
Hi. I started using trigestrel in January and for the past 2 months when I got to the placebo pills I would have withdrawal bleeding but it was lighter than my usual period (which I've always had quite a light period). I've just finished my third pack now but decided not to take the placebo pills as they contain no hormones and I thought they wouldn't affect anything. my problem now is that I've only just had very light brownish discharge and no real bleeding and would like to find out if I could possibly be pregnant. I take my pills at the same time every night and have never skipped. I've also experienced serious side effects such as dizziness, nausea and tender breasts and have assumed it was the pill because it started when I started the pill. I know a pregnancy t...

IBS-Friendly Pain Medication for Herniated Discs
I have five herniated discs in my spine and I've been suffering from agonizing pain. Every time I try to take something for the pain, it flares up my IBS, causing me severe diarrhea and nausea. The doctors dismiss me when I tell them about my problem. Is there anyone out there who could recommend a pain medication that is gentle on the stomach? Thanks in advance. ## Hello, Ronnie! How are you? I don't know of any gentle pain medications, there is a chance of all of them causing side effects, especially opiates, and they may include nausea, dizziness, and dry mouth, in addition to what you've mentioned. Ref: Safe Opiate Use However, there are things you can do to try to mitigate the side effects, such as making sure not to take them on an empty stomach. Have you tried any dia...

Could I give my 3 year old a Scopex 10mg tablet?
Could I give my child Scopex 10mg (1 tablet) for cramps? She is 3 years old. ## You should definitely run this by their pediatrician, but likely not. The active ingredient in this medication is Hyoscine, also known as Scopolamine. I was reading a leaflet on Scopex and it states "Due to the risk of provoking hyperpyrexia it should not be given to patients, especially children where the ambient temperature is high." It also says "Use with caution in children, geriatric patients, patients with diarrhoea, fever, and in conditions characterised by tachycardia". Source ## Hello, Lee! How is your daughter? Please do not give her any medication without her doctor's approval. It is very, very easy to overdose a child to the point of fatal toxicity. Additionally, there are man...

Scopex against menstruation cramps?
Can I also use it for menstruation cramps? ## It is listed as containing Hyoscine, so it is not likely that it will help with menstrual cramps. The NIH warns that it may cause nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, and headache as side effects. What else have you tried for your cramps? Have you consulted your doctor? Are you on any other medications? ## My dr prescribed me Scopex for my period cramps, I have endometriosis as well, with the scopex he also prescribed exinef, I also have a stomch ulcer, which my gp is aware of, and the brochure inside the exinef says to not use it when you have a ulcer... He refuses to put me back on Tramacet/tramadol, which actually took away my pain almost instantly for hours, where I would literally use only 1 once every 24hrs depending on the pain, but the med...
