I take 1x250mg lithium morning & @2x 250mg at night I want to reduce by one 250mg lithium ## Hello, Lenore! How are you? Why do you want to lower it, are you having some problem with it? Have you consulted your healthcare provider? Lowering your dosage too fast could cause some rebound effects, such as a manic depressive episode, that could be problematic. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, thirst, dizziness, weakness and itching skin.

My Obgyn claimed the endometrial biopsy I'll receive will only be "slightly uncomfortable" and take motrin. 1 I cannot take NSAIDs at all. I have IBS and it'll only make my stomach hurt. That'll be an added issue as my anxiety levels are getting worse as this biopsy approaches. Doing in office I cannot be put under say she did during a D&C which I know someone had her biopsy performed during the D n C. The problems I'm having are identical to hers where my periods are still regular (come monthly) except I began bleeding so heavily that it became unbearable. First day I cannot even walk around. It's so heavy and clots included. This D&C In her case alone stopped her heavy bleeds and biopsy - felt nothing obviously being under. She claims I won't ne...

I have been using Roxanol rectally and lately I've had to increase my dose due to escalating pain but I've found my tolerance seems to have shot up really fast. I am taking a break as best I can, does anyone know how long it will take to get my tolerance back to where my regular dose will be effective - regret doing this very much. ## There's really no defined time frame to even guess at, it can vary from person to person, just as much as having your tolerance grow can vary. Learn more Roxanol details here. Have you talked to your doctor for assistance? Have you tried any other medications? ## Yes to both and I am trying the longer acting version for now with different break through meds, so far I think this will be better for me. Downside is it's not as fast-acting but ...

I am 47 years old and have been taking blood pressure medication for five years - i think it is congenital. Was taking indapamide combined with bilocor and had pretty awful 'flutters' which frighted me. Doc changed meds to bilocor and Diolo - body did not like Diolo whatsoever and so changed it after 6 days. Now taking Bilocor and Perin dopril 2. One of the side effects i notice with the Diolo was rapid weight gain around the waist and a bloated face. The face side is now reducing but not gone completely back to normal and the weight around the waist is still huge!! I have only been on Perindopril now for 3 days and am asking, do you think this weight gain will subside in time? Definitely not normal. Am feeling much better on the perindopril compared to the diolo, although am st...

My doctor recently left the practice. He was my GP and wrote all my meds including pain meds for my spinal stenosis. The doctor he referred me to is writing them but she is reducing them and told me that the practice is trying to get patients on narcotics over to pain management doctors. I know that many pain management doctors do not write prescriptions and instead do injections, PT, etc. I have been down that road with nothing to show for it. Does anyone know of a good pain management doctor that will write pain meds but not subject you to a UA every single month or an office visit every single month? It's not that I won't pass it I just don't want another paranoid doctor that is more worried about the Fed than me. Thank you! ## That's not just something that their pra...

My Pain Mgt Dr. has been reducing my Percocet 10/325 mg pills down from 6/day to 3/day and my Kadian 20 mg pills down from 4/day to 3/day! I have been on this drug regimen for 7 yrs. due to a poor outcome from my last lumbar fusion surgery. I have heard that the DEA is requiring that all doctors must wean their patients down off of ALL opiate pain meds. Can you inform me of possibly any new developments in pain meds that would be accepted by the DEA??? Thanks so much. ## Hello, Doug! How are you? No, they don't have to take people off of all pain medications, however, they have been directed to limit how much is prescribed per day to any patient that does not have a possibly fatal illness, such as stage 4 cancer. It's been requested that no one else be given more than the equiva...

Wife has RA and has tried many different NSAIDs to relieve pain and reduce swelling. We don't want to take the standard RA Meds as the side effects are bad as well. Due to intense pain a few nights ago, I let her use some of my hydrocodone with acetaminophen and woke up feeling better than she had in months. What part of the drug is responsible for reducing the inflammation and then the pain to allow her to use her hands and walk. Are there other options we should look at for her pain/inflammation? Many of the NSAIDs haven't worked effectively for her. ## Hello, Todd! How are you and your wife? It could be that this is a good medication for her and she may need to ask her doctor about trying it. Was it the combination with Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen? It does take opiates to h...

I am bipolar 2 or so they say. I have been taking epiec 200 and rispadol. I have lost the will to live without the depression of course and i have become an angry horrible person that no one can be around. I have shakes in the head and tiredness that is so not me. I have started to reducing the meds and is on 50 now. I am feeling much better and the old me is returning. Why do people think epitec is such a wonder drug? ## Epitec contains the active ingredient Lamotrigine. Risperdal contains the active ingredient Risperidone. That said, they can both cause the types of effects you experienced and this may have been compounded if you were taking them both at the same time. Have you spoken to your doctor about this problem? ## My daughter has been on Epitec for months now. She started with...

Clinical trials were looking at the use of opiod agonists as off label anti-depressants. Since they block the release of glutimate without the more addictive opiate side effects. Also, releases more dopamine? Ketamine also being studied as well as anti-inflammatory drugs in combination with opioid agonists? I am probably mistating the complex bio-chemistry involved, but bottom line it seems like anti-depressant meds are all moving toward reducing inflammation by reducing glutamate release, (or is it the other way around) from the spinal column by binding opioid agonists to the pain receptors. Thereby also increasing dopamine release. I know several experimental drugs were in the pipeline but some fizzled out. Any ideas as to truly "new" anti-depressants for treatment resistant m...

I too am feeling slight lower stomach pain after 1 week of taking ocid dsr. Gastroenterologist did not seem too concerned abt this. He asking me to take this twice a day for at least a month for my gerd in addition to the following home remedies: Drinking turmeric powder with pepper in some hot water after dinner. Also asked me to take a pinch of large fenugreek seeds to help in digestion and to take my dinner earlier. I find that reducing caffeine and chocolates help too. I plan to take ocid for 1 week only though as I'm wary to taking too many meds. I hope I heal soon. Good luck to u too

I was taking 30mg oxycodone and the doctor switched to 15 mg Morphine ER and 15mg oxycodone and the pain is the worst it's been in the last 8 months. Am i going crazy or is it possible that the morphine does nothing for me. And if so I can't see the doctor for another 7 days ## 15mg er morphine is the least amount available in the er class of pain meds, er stands for extended release, this means that basically you are receiving 15 mg per 6 hrs, over a 12 hr period. and obviously you receive half of the dose you were getting with oxycodone. long story short, you Dr.isn't doing you any favors, only reducing your pain meds and increasing your pain!, 15 mg er morph doesn't do much at all! ## Morphine when taken by mouth is super weak. I was just diagnosed with folliculitis by my family doctor an he put me on keflex and my dermatologist has me putting flouocinolone acetonide on it. Is this normal? ## Hi George, From what I could gather, folliculitis is reported to be a common type of skin condition (usually caused by a bacterial or fungal infection) in which the hair follicles can become inflamed. So it makes sense to me why you were prescribed an antibiotic such as Keflex (cephalexin) for the infection as well as Fluocinolone acetonide, which is a topical corticosteroid mainly used for reducing skin inflammation and itching. This combination of meds would essentially be attacking the folliculitis from both angles, and in my opinion, seems like an appropriate course of action. I hope this helps!
