Hello. As stated before by others I went to my PCP today and he would not prescribe it to me... Instead said I need to see a dietician.. I meet all the criteria listed. I also did all my research... He wouldn't give me a name of another doctor. He printed out websites to help me lose weight. I am located in northeast Ohio. Does anyone know a doctor I can see? Do I try and find a different PCP?

I am looking for doctor able to prescribe my oxycodone in col ohio. I am a recent amputee with a dead hip bone and just had major surgery on my left leg wich has left some bone exposed. However, as I'm getting ready to be discharged my surgeon says find someone to prescribe pain mess and says a pcp can do this for now. I'm terrified please help. ## Hello, Leas! How are you? A PCP can technically prescribe such pain medications, but due to the new directives set forth by the DEA last year, most of them will not, especially for new patients. In most cases, even for existing patients, they will only prescribe for a short period of time. Do you have a PCP that you've been seeing regularly? If so, they might be willing to help, for a short period of time, while referring you to p...

Before I start, I would like to thank the person that responds to this. I have looked online for recommendations, with no success. I won't bore you with the details. I just didn't know where to turn and everyone (most everyone) is so helpful and knowledgeable ## I dont know where you live but in Oklahoma to get anything more than tramadol you have to see a pain specialist and he has to be reffered by a pcp. ## Hello, Jam! How are you? Thank you, Trish, for your response. I just want to let everyone know that this is applicable to all states. If anyone requires long-term, ongoing treatment for chronic pain, they'll need to see a pain management specialist. Jam, what is your general location? This information may enable someone to suggest a good doctor in your area.

Hello I need to find a new pcp in Richmond, VA that will take over prescribing my medications. I have a history of lyme disease, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, chronic anxiety. I was informed by my pcp that I would no longer be treated after over three years of being a patient. I don't have the time or money for multiple co-pays and doctor visits to find a doctor that is willing to continue prescribing my medications for pain, anxiety, and chronic fatigue. I do not want to go to a pain management clinic but rather visit my pcp each month so I have one doctor doing all my prescribing. I have been looking on the internet in hopes to find referrals to pcp that are sympathetic and willing to treat me as long as I am following the protocol. So stressed over this because I have a demandin...

I have had over 20 procedures to reconstruct my urinary tract due to bladder mesh erosion. i self cath thru my belly button stoma and my entire spine has either herniated and bulging discs or fused discs and I am in EXCRUCIATING PAIN. My abdomen is the worst tho. I have a "bladder" made from resected bowel, colon and my appendix and I have "knives" and "hot pokers" in my belly 24/7. I need something stronger than a 10 mg oxycodone 4 times a day. My PCP won't do any more because of DEA. He referred me to pain management and they sent note to add a duragesic patch to my treatment plan. PCP refused. WHAT CAN I DO? I'm not a seeker, and don't do recreational drugs. Anyone know of a doc that would help???? ## Your PCP is severely restricted on what they ca...

according to her directions and how many pills Im given. I haven't even had the surgeries yet but my pain has been unbearable considering these proven medical problems have been going on for 10+ years. Thank God for OHP, I finally have med insurance, which I hadn't had since 2004. This PCP even knew my old PCP that I had gone to and paying out of my pocket for help with pain management. I was on a 3yr pain contract with old PCP and she was always willing to help with adjusting pain med if they were not helping to keep pain under control. I do not understand why this (younger than me PCP will not even discuss with me about adjusting my pain meds.) She absolutely will not because she says she wouldn't want to have to send me to rehab to get me off of pain pills. Im sorry but W...

My pcp prescribed norco for me until I can see a surgeon for cervical spine pain. He initially gave me a script for 30 with one refill and I was to take one a day. This wasn't enough for the pain, so he called in another script for 25 and wrote it to take one every 6 hours. I refilled the 30 script on the 5th and the pharmacy won't refill the script for 25 today the 15th. Is there any way to get this filled ? ## I would suggest contacting your doctor, it would seem that the pharmacy hasn't noted the dosage change. My PCP prescribed Hydralazine to treat my BP after taking amlodipine, metoprolol, and carvidelol - not working for me. I was hoping that this hydralazine will work for me, 10mg bid 2 only. Now in 15 days taking this med, I always have shortness of breath, feeling that my lungs are super congested. Barely breathe and all in the morning, my anxiety became so aggressive, feeling of constantly sad. But I was also being told that it is just a matter of time that my body will adjust or adapt this meds. But it's so hard waking up in the morning breathless, so when I stopped taking these meds, all bad symptoms are gone. Please help, I'm worried what if my BP will spike. My PCP of 15 years told me today that the DEA is wanting to start halting the doses of alprazolam for intent to wean completely off. How is this going to be possible? I am on disability for my mental health. I was attacked viciously and my alprazolam has been my anxiety med for 13 years. Anyone know where I can get precise, accurate more specific info? This terrifies me. She scared me. Would the pharmacies know? As anyone who takes alprazolam, the withdrawals nor the panic attacks are of any fun. ## What you were told is basically what we are all being told. The writing is on the wall for the class of drugs we know as Benzodiazepines. I didn't want to believe this when I first joined here in 2013. What is the maximum/day my pcp can prescribe long term opiates without going to pain management. Specialists are expensive for me but not the medication. Im currently only getting 5 5mg oxycodone from pain management because old pcp wont mess with it. Thnks for help. Isnt up 80mg/day allowed? ## By Federal Law, Schedule II can be perscribed for a max of 90 days without seeing the dr. This applies to all drs. The dr can write 3 30 days rxs for s Schedule II. Although most won't because they don't make any money of they don't see the patient. Put state of ohio and schedule II restrictions in your search bar. As of May 1, my PCP will no longer treat chronic pain. I developed rsd/crps several years ago after surgery. I was referred to a pain clinic; PT; several modalities. Finally got pain manageable with Fentanyl Patches and Hydrocodone. Multiple weaning attempts, but pain was too much. Almost 2 years ago, I was able to wean off of the patches. So now, just using hydrocodone. It keeps pain tolerable most days. I am awake, alert and fully functional. I take 20 mg four times a day. As a critical care and hospice nurse for 30+ years, I know risks and ramifications. I also know I CANNOT tolerate 24/7/365 pain. I just need someone who will continue the regimen that has worked for me for years. I have done it all; biofeedback, antidepressants, anticonvulsants, etc.. I am on full term disability du...

Linzess was prescribed by my pcp, 1 capsule every other day for oic. It works within about 4 to 5 hrs and works just fine, no sidefects what so ever. The medicine works just fine for OIC. So whatever you people are experiencing has got to be a fluke, the medicine works just fine. ## We are all different, so a medication that works well for you may not work great for someone else that tries it. Have you experienced any side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, bloating, diarrhea, and abdominal pain that the FDA lists as being common with this medication?
