I was told I failed a drug screen and must take all medications in to check them. I take advair, ipratropium, and albuterol inhaler for asthma. I also take allegra D and benadryl for allergies. I sometimes take an over the counter diet pill called phentramin D. Would any of these cause false positives on a standard UA? ## What did you fail for? Have to take weekly urine drops,was tested on June 22,2012 and that Tuesday,June 19,2012 I had to go to the emergency room for a shoulder contusion and was given morphine. I took some Nyquil Monday night and Tuesday night but I didn't take any on Wednesday. Thursday afternoon I may have to take a drug test. I take hydromorph contin and hydromorphone for pain and my doctor did a urine test on me I'm also taking adderal, cloazapam, risperidal, divalproex and on my urine test results I tested positive both times for oxycodone. How is this possible when I've not taken it at all? ## Do you know what type of test your doctor is using? If they have really gone with the test from the lab that was the cheapest bidder for business, then it's likely that it's not a certified test and if that's the case, false positives are known to occur on the cheaper non-certified ones anywhere from 4 to 50% of the time. I take trazodone every night as well as sparingly Advil pm and sometimes melatonin or benadryl. Can any of these show a false positive for ambien? ## Maybe it was the Tylenol PM that you took that would make it seem like it was an Ambien. So they really have tests that can tell whether you took an Ambien or not? Hi, I'm in an opiate treatment methadone program.... I showed up positive for oxazepam, but my medications are clonazepam, fluoxetine, hydroxyzine, and testosterone cypionate.... They reduced my dose by ten milligrams and said I must be taking other drugs but I am not.... Is there a reason it showed up as that? I also was told I had a false positive for opiates.. I am on methadone and take depakote, cogentin, trazodone, and birth control.. been clean for opiates for a long time now..they retested me and said I was dirty again.. I know that's not true..of course I'm the liar tho. I also take zantac and prilosec.. could it be my meds showing up dirty for opiates. ## Zantac can cause false positives. Demand a gas chronograph test. This will differentiate what caused the false positive. Do they know you were on zantac or prilosec? If you don't ask, they won't do it, and you may have to pay, but get reimbursed possibly. If you don't, you could even get taken off your methadone, depending on the doctor. Hope this helps- oh and request this before the original sample is destroyed....

I recentely had a doctors drug screen and I am only using vicodin 10mg and dilaudid came up in drug screen, I found information on another link that it can break down into a percent of dilaudid and norcodiene and a few others can you explain? My only meds prescribed and taken are xanax, vicodin, paxil. ## It's really not what it breaks down into the causes this problem, it is the reliability of the test and the medications themselves, such as the Hydrocodone in the Vicodin. On cheaper, more unreliable tests, false positives can occur anywhere from 4 to 50% of the time and doctors are not required to use the more expensive, certified tests. What can make you have a false positive drug screen for both of these drugs ## I have just completed a drug scan and I have tested positive for both those, and I do not take them! upon further investagation I have discovered that Sertraline (Zoloft) can provide a false positive for Benzo's (ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc2728940/) stemming from the hydroxylketone metabolite and there is very shaky evidence that Olazapine (Zyprexa or serequel) will cause false positive for opiates ## Does anyone who knows anything ever answer anything In here?? I am on a pre-trial contract and get drug tested every week.They do an eight panel that tests for Marijuana, Amphetamine, Methamphetamine, Benzodiazephines, Morphine / Opiates, Phencyclidine, and Barbiturates. They also do a separate test for Buprenorphine. I passed the eight panel test, but a faint line showed up on the Buprenorphine test. I don't take any other medications nor do I use Suboxone.
