I have stopped taking dosulepin after 8 years Ive had BPH for 3 yrs I'm at present catheterized urine retention ...is possible my prostate may shrink habit in time? ## Dosulepin .....side effect is prostate enlargement BPH !!!! Other withdrawal effects, as listed by the NIH, may possibly include anxiety, rebound depression, headache and diarrhea. Has there been any improvement, yet? ## Yes ,had to self catheterize for about 2 weeks but since then about 12 months I've been OK ...not like a teenager but OK ..I'm 69 yes ,oh and I take flowmax.

The Doxylamine, Codeine and Dosulepin can all increase sedation, which risks lowered heart rate, lowered blood pressure and this could potentially result in a coma and be fatal. As listed by the FDA, the Mersyndol is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. My mother was prescribed protheidan for depression.though she has recovered,she can't seem to stop taking it.Her doctor says she still needs the drug,But she is finding it difficult to deal with the side effects namely weight gain(was always frail),breast enlargement,nausea,dizziness,blurred vision,body heat.Can someone tell me how to get her off this? ## Prothiaden contains the active ingredient Dosulepin, it is a tricyclic antidepressant. Those are normal side effects, however, if she would stop taking it abruptly, this medication is known to cause withdrawal symptoms.
