I am Diabetic, and used to get a lot of very painful Cramps, mainly at nights. 2-3 per night, 4 -5 times a week. I'd tried most things, but with little effect. So I discovered that what would help was Potassium and Magnesium, as it feeds the Muscles. Tried an effervencent pill, and that gave me violant diarrhoea. (Aquilea). Then I was told to try half a Banana a day. I have now been 95% free of Cramps for 3 years. Great. ## Very glad you found something that helped you. Yes, the potassium is especially important to our muscle health and, if you are low in it, it will often cause bad muscle cramping. However, too much of it can also be dangerous, so please make sure you don't overdo it. There is a blood test your doctor can do to check the level for you. I always drop low, for re...

cramps all over my body, often without any muscle activity, in other words, totally at rest and I still get very bad cramps. I am drinking water enough to be peeing about every 2 hours. I also take a calcium/magnesium supliment. ## Hi John, The capsule with imprint Mylan 2537 is a combination of Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg + Triamterene 37.5 mg (it's generic for Dyazide, and is manufactured by Mylan Pharmaceuticals). This medication is used for treating high blood pressure. From what you are reporting it sounds like your BP might be dropping low, causing "hyperactive deep tendon reflexes". You should report this to your doctor ASAP since they might need to adjust your dosing schedule. There is a more comprehensive list of side effects and precautions on GlaxoSmithKline's D...

My 78'year old dad just started taking candesartan and has experienced severe leg cramps. His,Doctor, just switched him to this medication to try to see if it could help with his persistent cough and hoarse voice. ## I am so sorry about what your dad is experiencing. Has there been any change? Severe leg cramps may be caused by low potassium levels, which is something this medication may also help with. How long has he been taking it? Other side effects, as reported by the U.S. FDA may also include nausea, dizziness, increased urination and hypotension. Is he on any other medications?

History: today is 3rd day of use, 50g/once a day. Used for opiate dependence, 7 days after last dose of Suboxone. No other symptoms but moderate/strong stomach pains. Some sleeplessness. Any remedies? Other folks experience? Does it go away? Most sites say should not be a side effect for more than a "few days". ## Suboxone has a long half-life. The symptoms you are experiencing at seven days post last usage are most likely withdraw from Suboxone. Some patients do experience some GI disturbance when first starting naltrexone but, they should pass in a week or less. If the symptoms dont go away by that time consult your health care professional. I hope that helps.

I have been on clopidogrel for 8 years after insertion of a stent. During this period I suffered the most painful cramping in my feet, legs and arms when performing moderate exercise. I recently visited my heart specialist who suggested that I may no longer need to take clopidogrel as a recent angiogram showed no significant blockages in my heart. I ceased taking clopidogrel and no longer suffer any cramping. The suffering I have endured for 8 years while on clopidogrel should be a warning to others. If I had been able to exercise without cramping it may well have been as beneficial as taking this drug. ## Hello, Bill! How are you doing? Wow! That's terrible, I'm glad you finally figured out what was causing it. Muscle aches and stiffness are known side effects, as listed by the...

However, if you are concerned, there is no harm in discussing it with your doctor to be sure. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, acne, mood changes, and weight changes. Knee problems from years of racquetball - miniscus are gone - doc prefers me do the Rball for heart health rather than knee replacement. (ME TOO!!!). Incredibly - Meloxicam (15 mg / day) has ZEROED the pain. The problem I have developed after about two months is leg cramps - usually calf muscles & usually during the night - a couple of times a week. Is there a fix for these leg cramps? ## According to the NIH, the most common cause of nighttime leg cramps is low potassium levels in the body, this medication has been known to cause dehydration in some people that take it, which could contribute to the problem. How much fluid do you take in each day? Do you eat any potassium rich foods, such as oranges or bananas? ## I drink 6 to 10 Gatorade G2 (smallest size) a week and eat bananas o...

Will sulfameth/TMS 800 causes cramps ? I've been takeing it for a week and have bad cramps in the top of both feet at night. ## Sulfamethoxazole with Trimethoprim is an antibiotic that is used to treat various types of infections. It is not listed as causing cramping like that, except for in the stomach on some rare occasions. Usually night time cramping of the legs and feet is caused by being low in Potassium. Do you eat a proper, nutritious diet? Are you on any other medications, such as diuretics that can cause you to lose Potassium? ## I have taken two does of Sulfameth and my feet and toes are severely cramping up. Please advise.

I have been taking Simvastatin for 2 months. My legs and feet cramp terrible. Does anyone else have this problem? If so what can I do for relief? ## Simvastatin, the generic for Zocor, is commonly used to help lower cholesterol. Unfortunately, many people experience side effects from Statin medications. That said, muscle cramping is listed as a rare side effect, this means you should contact your doctor immediately to report it to them. You may require a dosage or medication change. I don't know what to do for this problem I need medical advise I can not stop tle leg cramps at night? Please advice urgent Thank you ## Hello, Juan! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. According to the NIH, the most common cause of nighttime leg cramps is low potassium levels. You should have yourself checked out to see if that's what might be causing yours. If so, supplementing potassium is a simple matter and many people do it just be eating bananas regularly. Another possible cause would be dehydration. How much fluid do you take in each day? Are you on any medications? ## Night cramps in legs... My doctor has tried me on two different antihistamines now, Loratadine and Cetirizine. Both give me cramps. I have no deficiencies and am in health good. Any ideas anyone? Many thanks. I am in the UK. ## According to the NIH, they have been known to cause leg cramps as a side effect, in some people that take them. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, drowsiness, and headache. How long did you try each one? Such side effects usually go away, after about 5 to 6 weeks, once your body gets used to a medication. ## I was on Cimetidine for almost two years and Loratidine for three months. Enough time to connect them to leg cramps. The Loratidine also caused me to have very vivid dreams and so I rarely felt refreshed int he mornings! ## I was on Cetirizine about two yea...

I take Altosec, Pharmapress, Crestor - can any of these drugs cause severe cramps on long term use? ## There's a possibility it's from the Crestor, because it has been known to cause both muscle and joint pain and problems as side effects, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness and headache. How long have you been taking it?

Today was the first day I took the Linzess. The Dr.gave it to me samples of the med to take for constipation. It worked with in a hour. But all it was, was water. I drank liquids to try to keep myself hydrated. Unfortunately I ended up with severe leg and rib cramps. I drank several bottles of Power Aide and lots of water. I must have been having fluid shifts. I'm was instructed to take it daily. I hope I don't have same problems tomorrow. ## Hello, Lynn! How are you feeling? Unfortunately, many people report that it does tend to cause that type of diarrhea regularly, rather than actually helping them have regular bowel movements. Other side effects as listed by the FDA may possibly include heartburn, nausea, vomiting and headache. Can anyone else that's been on it chime in?...
