Does anyone know of one who will prescribe pain medication? ## All you can do is make call and make an appointment with a pain management dr in your area. Someone please post the names of pain management physicians in Louisiana. Thank you. Everyone seems to give advise but no information we can use to get help. ## Put Pain Management Doctors and your city and state in google and the names of the drs in your area will come up. You can also go to websites like Healthgrades and Vitals to find the name of pain management drs in your area and things like the education and training of the dr. No one can tell you what a dr will and won't prescribe for anyone. If you have insurance, contact your insurance company and ask for pain management drs in your area that accept your insurance. Healthgrades and VItals do list insurances that drs accept, but the list is Not current.

I am in desperate need of a private doctor that prescribes methadone. I'm a single mom that works 40 hours a week serving tables. However all the money I make goes to the methadone clinic. It cost me 15 dollars a day to dose and 15 in gas to get there. Can someone please help. I can have all documents transferred from the clinic to a doctors office. also my concern about transferring to a private doctor is the milligrams given daily. Will they start me at the same amount of medication? Jacksonville or Saint Augustine area would be great. Also if you know the price of first visit that would be great ## Doctor's in my are give methadone for chronic pain.... It's cheap- 120 pills are about 22 bucks.... ## If it's for addiction treatment, then a private doctor can't help...

"First do no harm." The starting line in the Hippocratic Oath. I have been a chronic pain patient off and on for 20 years. Should have been ON for the duration, but idiot overdosers and Congress got involved. Drs. are not fulfilling their path. Legitimate pain patients like myself live a miserable existence. We are not seeking drugs to get high or to sell, but to at least dull our pain. I contemplate suicide daily as a way to not feel the constant pain. There is no joy, no happiness and nothing to look forward to when even the smallest task brings tears to your eyes. Physicians are afraid to prescribe meds they know will alleviate pain because a bunch of bureaucrats, far removed from reality, dictate what they can prescribe. How unreasonable is that? Congress doesn't know me...

Does anyone know of any primary care physicians in the Shreveport/Bossier City/Haughton/Minden area that do pain management? I have been going to a pain management doctor here in Shreveport for about 6 years now, but it is just getting to expensive. He refuses to to go any higher on my dosage of Oxycontin, which is 30 mg 3 times a day. And he will not give me anything for break through pain. I am on Medicaid so I have to pay him out of pocket. Medicaid pays for 60 of my oxy's, but I have to pay for the other 30. If I knew of a primary care physician that accepts does some pain management and also accepts medicaid it would be a really big help. I'd really appreciate anyone that could help me out and answer this. Thank you. ## There aren't any PCP's who do Pain Management ...

Are there many people on this board that are going to a private Dr for pain meds? It seems almost every one is forced to go to a pain clinic and these clinics are horrible with all their rules and the way they treat chronic pain sufferers that are in need of pain medicine. And even worse is a methadone clinic. ## Not all pain clinics are horrible, but yes, some of them are and Methadone clinics are not intended to treat pain patients, they specialize in treating drug addiction. Learn more Methadone details here. Many private physicians are reluctant to treat chronic pain, because they are not specially trained in doing so, which means on top of the legal concerns, they also have to worry about mismanaging someone and being help responsible for that. Are there any other questions or comm...

I have been using Dextromethorphan 60mg Sr/ER for pain management. I was prescribed this medication, which is made in a compounding pharmacy by a doctor in California who is actively involved with the NIH(National Institute of Health. This pain management doctor uses off label medications, but is light years ahead of the traditional pain management doctor, who goes through their steps of the various epidural, nerve blocks, a multitude of other treatment that all the other pain management physicians practice, all the way up to a spinal cord stimulator or pump. I tried all of those treatments and was told no treatment remains, other than heavy narcotics, which do not work in the slightest for me. I heard about this doctor through my brother as I was in the hospital on a dialaudid drip for...

I have RA and herniations of 4 disks with bone spurs off of 3 of my disks as well, I am in need of a physician that understands that there are legitimate people with documented conditions that require medications that help you live; not just survive. I am so depressed now, not just because of the pain; but because physicians treat you poorly; and as a drug seeker when they have diagnostic proof that you are in pain. Have had back spasms and severe pain for awhile. All I have is regular naproxen which is doing nothing for my back. Would be interested in hearing how others have coped without opioids, and whether any recommendations can be made for finding reputable pain clinics and physicians who can still treat with oxycodone. ## I have serious severe pain all over my body from fibromyalgia, arthritis, and had a severe fall down cement stairs requiring surgery in 2015. I need a doctor who will prescribe me pain medication. It is too severe using just topical gel.. ## @Ulisa, Sorry to hear about your challenges with pain management. Dear RxChat Community, I just have one specific question, so this will be short. Why are Pain Management physicians so quick to prescribe Methadone, over any other narcotic, if they already know beforehand just how incredibly hard it will be to get off it--if ever? Do they have a hidden agenda? I will greatly appreciate any and all responses! Thank you all so much!! ## I believe the government is a bit more lenient on methadone docs, because it is not a drug of abuse. Just a guess, but where I live, pharmacies can be worse than docs. ## Hello Glenn, my experience as a lay person for 27+ years in pain management around people who have taken methadone causes them to not be able to feel the effects of other opiates and abuse other opiates. To me this would be the main reason doctors would ...

my wife (,age 48) underwent an anterior lumbar discectomy 3 months ago.she is not taking the operation well at all. she can barely walk and the 4 mg dilauded tabs are about useless for managing the pain.we live in Westerly ri and cant find a dr that isn't afraid of narcotics. can someone recomend a dr with some balls ## Hello, John! How is your wife? What type of doctor has she been consulting? Physicians really have no choice but to be extremely cautious about prescribing such medications and, due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, if strong narcotics are required on a long-term ongoing basis, then only a specialist can prescribe them. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizzines...

I was hit by a drunk driver in 99 and it took years to finally get pain managed and try to live a normal life. My pain Dr. Dropped me after a pharmacist lied and said i was attempting to pick up post dated rx the surveillance proves i didn't but now i have no doctor no meds and am very sick what do i do ## Hi lin, Sorry to hear about your situation. Based on the circumstances it probably wouldn't be best to ask for a referral... however, there's certainly other physicians out there who would still be willing to help you. I just can't imagine every single doctor turning you down for such a petty accusation; especially since they have no real proof in the matter to back up their claims. Have you already contacted any other pain management clinics in your area?
