My son had a terrible experience on wyvance. He has phyciatic systems to include halluciations. The doctor took him off the drup cold turkey and Ihe seems to be having withdrawal systems? Is that normal?

I totally agree about the danger of the Vyvanse. I think my bipolar husband has some brain damage from taking it for so long. Now that he has gotten off of it he is still having more episodes than before the Vyvanse. I hope he can heal and that it will happen soon.

To everybody out there who is experiencing or has experienced withdrawal symptoms from stopping Vyvanse, especially Nick70mg.... I stopped my Vyvanse last Friday, 30 mg, and I am experiencing every single withdrawal symptom mentioned on these posts. I feel like I am 'out of it', like I took a huge dose of allergy sinus medication (which makes me spacey) and the effects won't wear off. I am scared that this won't stop. I know at this point I am addicted to the stuff.......... do I just try my best to ride out the withdrawal symptoms, even though a part of me wants to refill the script?

Edward, what you are going through IS withdrawal. I just went through withdrawal from Vyvanse, and yes, some of the symptoms you are experiencing are indeed Vyvanse withdrawal symptoms. For some people, taking an amphetamine medication can alter their mood............... usually when there is an underlying mood disorder. If medications like Vyvanse affect your mood, which seems to be the case, they are not good for you. The withdrawal symptoms generally last 5 to 7 days; that is what my pharmacist told me, and that is what I experienced. Are things getting any better for you now?

Help! Was just informed yesterday that this medicine is a meth/amphetiamine, (sorry, wrong spelling I know), and that all the horrible feelings, and my horrible existence the past several months have all been from this medication. Sick, incredibly scary lack of energy without taking my pill, (I went from 50 to 70 mgs), and after reazling that my body has become addicted my doctor took me off of it yesterday. I am so sick~no energy, angry, (and I have little children), beyond depressed. Just hopeless. How long does this last?? I can't take this. Thank you.

My girlfriend's 5 year old son is on vyvanse. Normally he is a very loving child, but when he comes down from it, he is EXTREMELY aggressive. He hits, kicks, yells, and now even bites his mom. She takes him to his Dad's as she works a part time job every night at a tax preparing service, and the only time she gets to see him is when he is coming off this med. He even has hit and kicked his grandmother. He tells his mom he does not love her...it is BAD!! After some time (around 5 pm) he calms down. Unfortunately during tax season, she does not get to enjoy her boy after the effects wear off. Any suggested alternatives to this drug?

I just stop taking vyvance 2 days ago. I was taking 60mg a day. I have always had depression and insomnia and always take anti-depresants and Ambien. I started back school to get a BS and told my Dr. I was having a hard time focusing. He prescribed me Vyvanse. I have been taken it for about 6 to 7 months and started to notice a harder crashes during the day, bad headaches, and a major increase in blood pressure. I was suppose to pick up my prescribition but didnt get a chance. I decided to try to get off of them. 1st day wasn't bad. The 2nd day my mood was a litttle better but my hands started to tingle, get hot, and feel like they are swollen. Im hoping for this want last long. I can handle this as long as it doesn't get worse.

I've been taking Vyvanse for over a year now. In the beginning, tasking or staying focused was fabulous. After a while, I felt I needed a higher dose. After taking 70mg for a while, I needed Red Bull to be able to study. Someone suggested I go to an endocrinologist who told me to get off of all meds for 6 weeks before I could get blood work done. Thankfully, my doctor helped me get off of Prozac and Vyvanse. I got very tired, no energy, and felt like a wet rag. But, this does go away. I finally discovered I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, which may explain depression, cognitive problems, weight gain, etc. Then, I realized I could not keep my train of thought and asked my doctor if I could go back on Vyvanse. After 3 days, I felt irritable, too hyper, and drugged (25 mg). I took myself off and am now going through the tired phase. My doctor thought I might try Strattera, as this is not the same type of drug as Vyvanse. Funny, but in college I was on diet pills (which were legally prescribed) and now know why I was able to do so well. Tell me, is there any doctor who can truly diagnose and prescribe? I'm so tired of pills and not feeling like myself. My only hope is that the endocrinologist will help me finally get to the bottom of all of this.

I myself have been on Vyvanse 40mg and have been off of it for 8 months and I still have a hard time functioning without it. However, the Army says I cannot take it. I found that yes when I was on it I felt like I accomplished so many more tasks. Now just like before I was on it I feel like a slug that cannot get off the couch. It has nothing to do with me being lazy. I just don't have the drive. I'm not fat, and I want to do the things I used to do, I just can't. I have since put on 20 pounds, I am just under my max for Army standards, but still considered normal weight.

My son is diagnosed with ADHD and has been on vyvanse 30 MG as well. He fare's better on it than he did with Adderall XR 30 MG. He tended to have more psychopathic outbursts when he was on Adderall, as I had stomach aches when I was on Adderall. for him (12YROLD) this has been the best one for him. Yes he still has these outbursts but before they were almost daily, now they are just when he doesn't get enough to eat. I know that has something to do with it. It's almost like DR. Jeckyll / MR. Hyde syndrome.

I have been taking Vyvanse for three years after being diagnosed with ADHD. I started losing a lot of weight so I decided to start weaning myself off of it. I found that doing so left me Very tired. I'm 24 years old and had to negotiate with myself to get out of bed. A week ago I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. This condition was not present before the Vyvanse. I noticed in an earlier post that someone else also had this problem. I am doing some investigation to see if this is a negative outcome of using vyvanse since it is a newer drug.

Hi, my 17yr old son was prescribed vyvanse a month ago for adhd and I am not sure what to do to help him. At first it help him a ton at school with consentration and the desire to raise his grades. Before that he had such high anxiety and depression he started to smoked pot to relieve these symptoms but once we found out it was much harder for him to use his self prescribed drug. He was put on zoloft (made him sick to the stomach) which helped a little but not enough and then after much discussion with a counselor and doctor was digonosised with adhd and put on vyvance. He is doing terrible. He also took more than prescribed the first week because he said that when it wore off he would get so tired that he could do the homework in the evening that hours earilier he had comitted to doing. Because of that he didn't take it over the weekend to save it for school. He has lost weight and is still very very depressed, wants to be alone all the time, he also has a temper (rage) and high anxiety that seems impossible for him to control, at the same time he is so tired all the time. I have no idea what to do for him. Any suggestions or comments. I know that we are dealing with several things here, not just the vyvance, but if anyone out there has been there done that what do you suggest would be best thing for him. This is his last week of school and i am just trying to get him through it without a meltdown but that seems to be what i have been doing all sememster with other deadlines.
He has only been on this for a month! Could some of his increased anger, depression and anxiety be linked to the vyvance? As a mom that loves her son and knows that he hates himself for the way he is right now I can only hope that someone out there knows what step I should take next. I should also mention that today was his last vyvance with 4 days left of finals ahead of him. I dread the next 4 days.
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Although you may experience withdrawl symptoms from Vyvance and other similar drugs, this withdrawl period only lasts for up to 4 days max. (provided you are getting sleep/rest). After you wake on the 3rd or 4th day, your mind and body will be back to your normal state. After this, any desire to take the drug again is merely psychological.

I've been taking vyvanse for well over a year now 60 mg a day. I can personaly tell you the only withdraw symptoms I have gotten was aching muscles and extreme fatigue. Also it can become very addicting once you take it for long enough. However the only way yo will experience these symptoms is if you stop taking the medication for an extended period of time. And if a person were to decide to stop taking it then they should have their doctor slowly decrease the dosage amount until you are able to stop taking it safely.

I just wanted to say that for me this has been a very helpful drug, I have tryed everything out there and i either was too focused that i really wasnt in control of my mind or just unstable mood wise. For example on concerta, i felt high for 6 hours then crashed horriably. Vyvanse 60mg has been the most stable drug for me, i would say it has had to strongest affect on my apeaite compaired to any of them but also the most stablilizing effect on my mood and focus. It allows me to acomplish tasks but does not make me. Also its the most calming of any i tryed, it feels closer to an opaite then an ampethimene for me, how ever weird that sounds. I do not use it everday only roughly 4 days a week, on thoose days school/work and therapy sesaon are most acomplished. I do this because i am very strongly adverse to the idea of being dependt on a substance for succese and only want to use it as a tool to help me beter my abilty to achive with out it eventualy. Just my 2 cents, hope everyone finds somthing that works for them.

I was planning on getting off Vyvanse and Wellbutrin eventually, but was forced to stop both suddenly. I was taking 300mg of Wellbutrin daily. I did manage to take half a dose for two or three days before stopping entirely. I was prescribed 70mg of Vyvanse, but had been taking only 35 mg a day for 2 months. This was partly due to side effects of a headache and trying to make the medication last longer since I no longer had any insurance. After I just refilled my prescription, only taking one and a half of the pills, they were stolen from my home.
It had only been a few days of no wellbutrin and now NO medication. The constant grogginess has been very difficult. Before I took vyvanse I could wake up in the morning using coffee, but it is almost ineffective. I do feel like I am getting more of my personality back though--when I feel awake enough or stimulated enough. I love to get up in the morning and read my bible, it is almost impossible to read a chapter without finding at least 10 other things to do at first or during.
Even though I have increased my caffiene intake, I still only drink it in the morning. Yet, I have been dealing with insomnia at times while feeling like I could fall asleep while driving if I stopped trying to stay awake.
Another side effect has been very achey joints. These issues only mirror part of the comments that I have read. It has been 15 days without either drug. Anyone else have any similar experiences?
