Will Fentanyl Show Up In Drug Test As An Opiate (Page 7)

Man the amount of people who have no clue what they are talking about yet spitting advice on it like they are an expert is bewildering. NO FENTANYL does not show up as an opiate on any test anywhere. In fact the only things that will show up as an opiate are morphine, codeine, and heroin and that is because heroin and morphine metabolize into morphine. Not even oxycodone or hydrocodone can be detected as an opiate they have to be specifically tested for as they metabolize differently, same with methadone, methadone has to be specifically tested for, it will not show up as anything but methadone. So unless the test you are taking is specifically testing for fentanyl then you will be fine. The question is whether or not the test you are taking is testing for fentanyl. I have yet to see a piss test that does test for it. Even if they sent it to a lab for testing they would have to tell the lab what to look for and that they specifically want to know if fentanyl metabolites are present. Anyone that tells you anything different from this has no clue what they are talking about or how opiates and their derivatives are detected after use. Drugs that have been taken are detected by looking for what they metabolize into, in the body and no two drugs metabolize the same unless they are from the same base as I explained in the beginning. Codeine, opium, heroin, and morphine are all detected as opiates because they are all made from opium. An opioid is not made from opium, they just have a somewhat similar structure and create the same effect by binding to the same receptors, but they in no way metabolize into the same metabolites which is essentially the by product of the chemical after the body has processed it. You're wrong. At pain clinics they test for opiates (oxys. Morphine hydromorphone, hydrocodone), cocaine, amphetamines, thc, tricylic antidepressants, methadone, benzos, suboxone. Urine 8 panel.

I have to test positive for hydrocodone in my urine cause that is what my doctor put me on. But today I had a little fentanyl and I have the urine test tomorrow. Will the fentanyl show up the same as the hydrocodone? If it doesn't I'm ****ed. Excuse my French.

I have a question: I am going to a methadone clinic to get off of Blue Oxy M30's....I take the blue oxy M30s but when the clinic gave me a UA I came out dirty for fentanyl..I don't understand how or why...And I recently got put on probation and I took a pill (Blue oxy M30) the night before I went to probation and that Morning at probation they tested me with a mouth swab and I came out clean...I have continued to take it and I have given 4 UA's that have been sent to a lab at probation and Nothing has come up..My husband has taken them too and he gave a UA as well and he came out clean...why at the methadone clinic does it come out as fentanyl..but at probation we come out clean..please HELP ME.

If you're on a Rx drug narcotic and it doesn't show up you're in trouble...you'll be suspected of dealing.

You don't know what you're talking about, I took dilaudid and fentanyl for 5 years on probation and it never came back positive even once.

Actually cheif the 10 panel urine tset tests for fentanly I know because I failed my urine test 2 weeks ago I'm on probation and they definitely test for fentanly

I have.never ever failed a urine sceeen in 5yrs!! I had a urine screen done last month and it came back with fentanly in it and I have never ever taken fentanly! or prescribed fentanly for pain!! So y did this happen!! The doctor was going to decrease my pain meds the wean me off of them and then take me off them completely and I said I can't do without them because the shots wasn't working so why can't he keep me on the pain medication so he said I either I wear u down or you can leave so I said bye and he told me also that no doctor will c me because they found fentanly in my urine!! He was nasty to me!!! So now I need to what to do because my meds run out on the first of January!

My cousin just died of overdose he is a heroin user. The toxicology came back no opiates. Positive for fentynal.

finally someone that knows what they are talking about everything you posted is exactly true though there is a 14 panel urine test that does test for all of the above accept fentynol i have yet to see a panel test with that on it.

if you took a twelve panel urine test then that test had fentynol on it i said i have not seen one but that does not mean that there isn't one but it does have to be specifically for that drug because the test tests how that drug metabolizes in your system just like the post said so if you came back dirty it's because one of the panels on that test was fentynol period that is the only possible way that can happen. you have to know what panels are on the test before you take the test to know what they are testing for but it will not come back as an opiate period there is no way.

Sorry pharmacist, fentanyl is on "opioid" not an "opiate" and as a pharmacist you should know that. Standard EMIT tests (the pee in this cup/dipstick style test) do not typically test for fentanyl as its metabolites (primarily norfentanyl) are not among those tested. Now, that's not to say a lab could not test for fentanyl, just that the standard 5 panel screen will absolutely NOT pop positive if fentanyl is the only narcotic you've been doing.

Fentanyl is an "opioid" not an "opiate" and thus has different metabolites that aren't tested for in a standard 5 or even 12 panel EMIT. There are of course specific tests for fentanyl but usually if the initial EMIT (pee in a cup style) immunoassay test comes back negative, the lab won't do further testing. Generally they only send positives for further testing.

You'll notice that all the "authorities" here claim they know the facts but have you heard from a single person who has failed a standard 5 to 12 panel because of fentanyl alone? Nope.

Thank you Xanther... I'm reading left and right everyone is contradicting themselves but the more I hear about these drugs being tested for and showing up as opiates it's obvious that someone doesn't know what they're talking about. I simply needed something for the pain, was prescribed Fentanyl and I work in a deli. I don't need to be taking the patch and chewing it up like some *****s out there that may end up dead, but I just want the pain to go away.

To all you people that think you are a lab person or pharmacist and say that fentanyl will show up on a drug screen, you all are WRONG cuz it wont. I used half patch on thurs afternoon and took a dot random on fri morn. (And i was freaked) i looked all over for answer and was told by people who said they were nurses, lab people, pharmacists, drs, everybody that said they know for sure, but even after only like 18 hrs went by before my test it dont show. But they do have specialty tests for it and for suboxone if the employer asks for it. So there ya go.
