Will Fentanyl Show Up In Drug Test As An Opiate (Page 8)

Updated

Man the amount of people who have no clue what they are talking about yet spitting advice on it like they are an expert is bewildering. NO FENTANYL does not show up as an opiate on any test anywhere. In fact the only things that will show up as an opiate are morphine, codeine, and heroin and that is because heroin and morphine metabolize into morphine. Not even oxycodone or hydrocodone can be detected as an opiate they have to be specifically tested for as they metabolize differently, same with methadone, methadone has to be specifically tested for, it will not show up as anything but methadone. So unless the test you are taking is specifically testing for fentanyl then you will be fine. The question is whether or not the test you are taking is testing for fentanyl. I have yet to see a piss test that does test for it. Even if they sent it to a lab for testing they would have to tell the lab what to look for and that they specifically want to know if fentanyl metabolites are present. Anyone that tells you anything different from this has no clue what they are talking about or how opiates and their derivatives are detected after use. Drugs that have been taken are detected by looking for what they metabolize into, in the body and no two drugs metabolize the same unless they are from the same base as I explained in the beginning. Codeine, opium, heroin, and morphine are all detected as opiates because they are all made from opium. An opioid is not made from opium, they just have a somewhat similar structure and create the same effect by binding to the same receptors, but they in no way metabolize into the same metabolites which is essentially the by product of the chemical after the body has processed it. Hope this helps anyone who needs accurate information not just the random ramblings of nonsense.

Suboxone will not show up on a standard urine test. Unless the dr. or who ever is having you take the test asks for u to be tested for it specifically, it will not show. but everybody listen, soon if people keep getting in trouble with suboxone, like busted with it and get caught selling it the d.e.a will make it a part of a standard urine test then people like us who take suboxone so we dont get sick till we get more of what we really want and people that take it when we need something to get by till the random is over those are the people who will suffer when they start testing.

I know this is an older post but this misinformation by people saying their pharmacy techs, lab techs and what not just astounds me. You can be a Doctor, a D.E.A. Agent, or the King of Siam for that matter, it doesn't mean your right. First of all anyone saying oxycodone or fentanyl will show up as an opiate is just wrong, because, news flash, oxy and fentanyl aren't opiates, there opiodes. Now, that being said, more basic tests usually do test for opiates (heroin, morphine, etc.). Larger panel tests usually test for both opiates and opiodes. Some opiodes like suboxone (bupenorphine) and fentanyl require a specialized test, and will not show up on any standard 5, or even 10 panel tests. Hope this helps, I believe everything I've stated to be correct based on what I've read and understand, but feel free to double check.

Actually the clinic I go to does not test for fetanyl. PROBATION in New Hampshire on the other hand does test. But it's a special test strip. Bc like other ppl have said fetanyl isn't a opiate. It is an OPIOD. I know you prob think they're the same but they aren't. They metabolize in your Urine differently .

I totally understand what you have said in your comment... In 2013 I had a random surprised test on Christmas Eve.. My scripts were written, i just had to run down to lab and provide slip and pick up my scripts for oxycodone... Well I had smoked and was freaked so I did a not so cool thing. I made my 6 and 8 year old nieces who were with me pee in those coffee cups from vending machines... Did it and we got our script now and left. Two weeks later they called and said me and my husband lost our scripts bcuz we both dropped for cocaine... Um we used two separate cups and two different girls and there's no way they did cocaine at all or me for that matter EVER and they didn't care.... Why does this happen?

Phil,
For someone so knowledgable in the field of pharmacology ,It would probably be a little more convincing if you could at least SPELL the substances you proclaim to expound on. I do not have the answer but if someone does and can reference the source I would be most appreciative. Many thanks.

Baffledbybogusresults,

There are children's medications,
vitamins and supplements that contain ingredients that can cause false positives.Have you ever considered something they were given by a pediatrician could have caused this reaction on your testing protocol?
Stranger things have occurred in the annals of drug testing annomaly's

taco, please stop posting. we understand that it showed up on your drug screen but that is not what the original question pertained to. yes, there are tests for fentanyl. no, they are not included in the standard opiate panel. christ, is that clear enough for you?

Wow you have no clue what you are talking about. You are in no way qualified to do drug testing if you really think what you're saying is true... Maybe you're a janitor in that lab?

Everyone who says fentanyl will not show up unless SPECIFICALLY tested for is right. All these "drug testing employees," "doctors," "LEOs," etc. who think otherwise need to go back to school, and not speak on subjects they know nothing about. Drug tests test for metabolites, and fent does not metabolize into anything that opiates and other opioids (except analogues of fent) metabolize into. It must be specifically tested for. (Everyone should know that most law enforcement are completely ignorant about laws, drugs, the world, etc... And there are no educational requirements for working in a drug lab, so saying you do means absolutely nothing. As for the doctors, you just make me sad about our educational system : (

NOT TRUE! I've been abusing fentanyl for years and since it is a synthetic narcotic and not made from opium it does not show up as an opiate. The drug screen has to be specifically tested for fentanyl, methadone, suboxone, etc....
