My friend has been taking xanax for the past two months he's been taking the 2Mg bars he would eat about 10 bars a day because of his anxiety he stoped taking them for couple of weeks and now he is not remebering anything he has been passing out and saying he had a conversation with somebody and never even talked to that person. like we'll be sitting in a room and he will think the phone is ringing but it isnt. and he said he had a conversation with me one day and i never even talked to him that day. I'm trying to find out if this could be from the xanax because its making me very worried.

I was taking xanaxs for over 18 years. I am 55 and in a nursing home. I went a year of not taking any I was told I have wks but I think I went thew withdraws my memory came back when I started them again..loss the ability to talk right. I am slowly coming back to.myself. I get no help from nursing home. I need help

Sounds like you're running out of you're running out of rx early. Which means YOU physically dependent on it. No doctor should be prescribing such a large dose. Looks like you're a drug addict.

If it gets real bad go to the ER, but its a matter of time before you have a Stroke or Heart attack. Cut down your use, do NOT abuse them, and seek help to get off of them.

I've been on xanax for about 4 to 5 years abusing them taking any were from 3 to 7or 8 MG a day sometimes more sometimes none till my withdrwls get the best of me and I'll try and find more cuz like I said I abuse the 75 mgs my doc gives me and now it's been 7 days I stop cold turkey but still feel like cap anxious dry heaving I'm eating okay no much sleep wat do yall think I should do please

Hi, I was on 20 mg a day also and eventually after 10 years got myself off. I'm here to tell you that you can be free again! You need to get into a detox and be under medical care. It's the only way to safely do it . It's a difficult journey but so worth it to have your life back!

I have been taking Xanax at about 12 mgs to 20 mgs a day for over 10 yrs and had many seizures..I'm scared to have another seizure right now because the last one I had,I didn't think I was going to make it out alive..My question is,how many mgs a day do I need to not have a seizure now? I need an answer ASAP,LIKE NOW! PLEASE HELP....THE EMERGENCY ROOM WONT HELP ME AND NEITHER WILL ANY REHAB OR DETOX UNIT...

Very sad thread. 5 years ago this week I spent an entire week in our local hospital after withdrawing cold turkey and almost dying. While I never took some of the insane amounts posted here, I learned how dangerous Xanax actually was, perhaps the most dangerous drug to detox from. If you are not prescribed Xanax, DON'T take them. If you are prescribed Xanax take them as directed. If you are taking large doses, (anything over 3 mg a day) be honest with yourself that one day your prescriber will move on and you could face these withdrawal horrors. If you must take Xanax, try to have some spare medication available as this stuff according to our Australian friend is a class 8 poison in any Country!

I understand what ur saying but as any drug its easy to become addicted I take them for a mental condition as well but at one point in my life I found myself abusing them as well u r right it shouldn't be ruined for ppl like ourselves that need them but its easy to take more than needed u don't know what's going on in others lives so please try not to be so harsh to others

Yes sir.. you said it. Ive had heart surgery when i was born and was told wouldnt make it to my adulesence, so we are in the same boat. It caused PTSD and ive been on .5mg for seven years only changing once. Screw crackhead druggys. Some of us need this help.

Ive been on xanax on and off since middle school and am now 41. I started abusing it and wanted to be sober and grow up for the remainder of my adulthood. Ive tried several times and this time I am on week 4...never got past a full week before. In my experience this time I took benedryl the first week, even during the day, week two, three, and currently Im taking valerian root (life saver!) You can buy it at cvs for $5 a bottle, melatonine, vitamine B. I have to be at home & only leave the house to go to the store a few times a week. I have had or am having 90% of the withdrawal symptoms but very mild, no seizures. I apologize for the grammar errors just wanted to answer your question. To have a better chance at beating this you have to get your sleep under control because the side effects from not sleeping are hell.

I understand completely!! My Pysch tolls me no more refills!! Stop cold turkey started taking them in 1998 after slapping dr for telling Me a family member would die.. He had been my dr for yrs after she died my father died in 2000 I have been taking.50 mg 3 xs a day every day.. My dr retired I am disabled with pain anxiety panic attacks also bipolar with chronic depression. I need them to be able to be around other people.. And do daily needs of me mom and husband with M. D. Fully loaded.. What her reason was I missed an appointment. One time. I don't understand she said withdrawal over in a week no way now I am scared of what's to come severe diarrhea for three weeks. Hot cold nervous b****y out of control what to do??? Desperate for knowledge

I just read your post back in 2011 and I wanna ask you if your still alive... Im guessing yes. And still addicted to Xanax.... Or as you put it ( you need it ) Am I correct ? Just from reading your dime store philosophy about the drug, its very clear you yourself are an addict !! By saying that you cant make it through a weekend without xanax, and that no Dr. will help you out by giving you even just a couple. Thats called addiction ! You were addicted then.... the same way you are today ! I also know you probably take more than 3 bars a day and your RX. runs out early every month....doesnt it ? It sux always counting and trying to figure out what your gonna do.... especially if your street connection happens to be out also.. I see through your silly story...your nasty attitude and general lack of any emotion that would i.d you as being human. Your to busy trying to convince people that somehow you are different......YOU , not others, truly need this drug ! It didnt occur to you that they also had a Dr who had prescribed xanax to treat the very same anxiety that you claimed to have. I do hope you see this.... Your 3 years older now and I just know that you are much more informed on the subj of xanax....isnt that right? 4 years experience dealing with it is character building ! RITE ? You know all to well what your facing if that bottle gets lost, stolen, or the usual.... runs out. And that is exactly why you must keep taking them. I wanna tell you that I also took 6mg each day because I needed it. That statement now, sounds like a hardcore addict talking. Tell me.... Hows ur addiction doin ? I dont talk to most people this way, but I made an acception 4 you based on your response to the girl who was asking you for help and wanting to die in any way she could. The least i can do to redeem myself with you is to end with some words that i hope you never forget .Im going to be very honest also. . . . Xanax withdrawal is the front door to HELL. The pain and torment alone are so severe you want to die. But thats just the warm up ! Around the 10th day into it, you cant stand up due to the fact you have been without sleep completly, you are dangerously dehydrated but are unable to drink. your organs begin to shut down and you turn blue. the mental torture escalates and you began hallucinating for the duration.... full blown psychosis. If you live alone expect to be badly injured in the last days by your own hands. Anything and everything can happen at this stage. Its at this level of withdrawal that most people die in a horrible way. If you survive to see day 13.... Its only because you are in the hospital. The hallucinations last 4-8 more days. when high doses of Halidal arent enough.... usually after 4 hrs of receiving an inj.. The psychosis and mental torture get so bad that you spend most of the next 3 days in restraints. You lose your mind body and your soul..... You are in Hell. You are going to see the devil , hear the sound of fear, and feel pain in ways no 1 can even imagine.
Dont doubt me 4 one second..... Xanax is the most dangerous drug to withdraw from. That is a fact. I suggest you never find yourself without that bottle or bag you carry it around in everywhere you go ! Those pills always come first...dont they? Just remember.... addiction needs medical assistance to get clean. Next time u run out of your much needed drug, read this again so you will know what to expect ! I invite you to respond to me.... Try clonadine and or baclofen. Both are used to help with the withdrawl symptoms. As everyone here seems to already know you should taper off any benzo slowly easier said than done right. I'm with the guy who takes them so he can hide what's really going on. See look at this smile. He's right it does that and it also takes away the fears and feelings we don't like. The problem comes in when you try to get off them you really start feeling life and all the s*** it has to offer. You have to reinvent new coping skills because you no longer have your friend you genus in the bottle that was always there for you. It takes a full scale life alteration to get off benzos. It took me a long time to realize that it was the benzo use that was causing all the problems that I was using the drug to hide from. Someone told me and I can still hear him saying " it's so easy just do the opposite of what you were doing when you were taking them". He was right I have tried it and it works. I would wake up and say ok today is opposite day. Everything I have urge to do just do the opposite. I'm was off them for a while but they always seem to creap back in without me even realizing it. My biggest problem is I screwed up my life so bad because I was always on Xanax. Poor decision making poor relationship skills tremendous losses and grief, guilt, hopelessness. That was what I had to face and it would always become too much. Too much stress to much stimuli to much pain to big of a mess to even know where to start or how to fix it. The worst part is once you quit everything starts coming at ya all at once. The s*** you used to ignore is all in a big pile staring at you. For me personally it's to much too big ill never survive because I have lost all my support systems. I always go back. I find an excuse and away I go. There goes another job, there goes another place to sleep, there goes my relationships. The list goes on and on. I have researched this a lot and I have tried to do it several times. The only way you'll ever get off Xanax if you abuse is AA. But you have to want it bad enough to walk away from everything you know and love and let the program teach you how to be a normal person again.

um so why is it all these people are drug addicts? i take them the same 3 x daily i have severe anxiety disorders and came to this page cause i am off my meds cold turkey because i missed my dr appointment.but it does seem like you may be in denial, you are prescribed a certain amount and yes there are days where i would have to take an extra but i still made sure i had enough to make it to my refill. so maybe you should grow up and understand addicts come from many areas and getting hooked from being on them for a good period time, it's over , you are hooked try and stop on your own its bs very very difficult , and walk in someones shoes before automatically jumping at people
