Please Help: Need Answers To Get Off Dilaudid (Page 2)

I have been taking 3 to 4 8mg (24-32mgs) Dilaudid pills at 1 time usually around 3:00pm everyday for about 2 1/2 years now for back and nerve damage and would like to know the best way, medication, and dosage to get off this drug, also how long and how bad I will feel detoxing. The only time I have energy and feel good is the 2 or 3 hours after taking the drugs. Every muscle and bone in my body aches like I have a severe case of arthritis , i'm sleepy-but can't sleep an entire night, get a runny nose, yawn constantly and tired. I just want to feel normal again. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. 50

just lower ur dose every 2 or 3 days till you are only taking like a 1/2 a pill a day. Then Just bite the bullet & be sick for a few days, or go to the methadone clinic, but thats a ratrace in itself & not much different, and kickin methadone is done the same way. Get a script for 10mg valium, or 2mg xanex to help ya relax a lil. You will be fine in about a week. Its just as mental as physical though deal with the issues why you are on the meds as well Otherwise you will go right back. Its a nasty cycle of cluster f***ed events !!!

Hi this is for Sharon and everyone else who reads. Im 24 years of age and live in silver city n.m. being on pain killers such as dilaudid and oxycontins is my favorite thing to do........ I absolutely love dilaudids (or ds for short). I've been using for about three and a half years, and only have recently started using tha needle. Everybody thinks im a junkie now. Its very sad. I have been shunned from my family and fiance. I am no longer engaged and everything I own is all gone, sold for a ten dollar high. Its one thirty in tha morning I just got out of work and im hurting(which means withdrawing) so ima try a suboxone and I hope to god it helps me. If it works and I sleep(anxiety is a bxxxh) I will stop for ever if god is willing. I hope if u r addicted to ds like me u will consider seeking help. Its not worth losing ur loved ones. Im in exile and im not a bad dude at all. I am sooooooooooo sorry for all tha lies and deceit and would trade anything to not be addicted to opiates. Please lord help me. Shoot HELP YOURSELFS. If u now how it is holla at me. It helps to wanna quit knowing there is people out there that have been able to quit or that wanna quit like me. Thanks

Hi, I was taking anywhere from 6-8 (injecting) 8 mg. dilaudids a day. I went to a methadone clinic for 2 weeks and they let me get down to 20 mg. a day, but no less. I could not afford to travel (80 miles round trip) daily to get my dose, or pay for it. So I decided to stop, and taper myself off using the dilaudid. The first day I got by with just one dilaudid at 1 pm the next day after taking 20 mg. of methadone. The next day, when I woke up, I had to take one (inject) at 7:30 am. At around 5 pm I started feeling minor withdrawal pains, but waited till 10 pm and shot 1 8 mg. tab. I was good till the next morning around 9, and my addiction got the best of me and instead of 1, injected 1, 8 mg., then 2 more right after. I want to stop completely; not go from dilaudid to methadone or suboxone or any other drug. Is it possible to taper off using my dilaudids, like 2 a day for a week, the 1 a day, then 1/2 a day, then none? I need to do something. I cannot afford methadone maintenance or suboxone. I can get by on 2, 8 mg. dilaudids a day right now, but that is it. Can anyone give me any help. If they won't post my email, then just post an answer here and I will check daily. man i dunno i dont take dilaudids but i get norco's and im eatin 40 mg's at a time and i get the same comedowns and detoxes like once a week diarriea, stomach knots, up cant sleep,depression,all that stuff. all i can say get a spouse to first off.one whom u trust ur narcotics with.u have to be in love or u wont change. u cant do i by urself. u have to wing urself down to one a day with help. then a half aday to avoid detoxes. been there and done that.been there and done that.

Im down to injecting 1 8mg pill every day or even every second day sometimes.

What next?

Wait till I feel normal at this dose (cause I still feel like crap daily)

or

Cut the pills in half and start shooting 4mgs a day (which scares the crap out of me)

Hello...I have broken over 300 bones in my 35 years...I have a bone disorder called osteogenisis imperfecta....I have been on every pain med known to man...the best med with the least addictive properties are methodone....it is a synthetic opiate that helps pain .but also aids in fighting opiate addiction....if anyone has heard of a methodone clinic....for heroin addicts....that's what they are given....many people call it synthetic heroin....during my rehab from a head on car wreck in which I broke 40 bones...I was taking a cocktail of mess from oxy ir, to liquid morphine, etc....when the doc prescribed me methodone....I dropped from 15 pills a day...to 3....and I don't have the heebee jeebee feeling if I'm running out of meds....so if anyone out there is trying to detox ....ask your doc about methodone....this drug saved my life....bit also it is not a drug to ne abused either....another thing....it is cheap....because it has been on the market since ww2, so if u don't have insurance.....it only costs me around around 12 bucks for a 120 pill supply for a month...hope this helps out..

I got knee surgery a few weeks ago. I fell a week ago so the Doc put me back on Dilaudid and said to only take it for a few days and then I'll go back to Percocet5mg every 4 hours. I spent hours making this 90day wean plan and yesterday, when I called the Dr to ask them to please give me something weaker (perc or vicodin) and they had someone else call me back and they just told me to keep taking the Dilaudid and stop my Morphine SR 15mg/day (which I had already done). This dilaudid makes me feel good...TOO good and it scares me. I wish my Doc or his PA would call me personally. Hopefully they will today, 'cause I can't take this crap dilaudid anymore. I stressed before surgery too that I would like to follow my plan because I found my best friend's body years ago because of pill use and it freaks me out. Doc agreed to do it, but is now starting to seem unresponsive. I'm still in Physical Therapy and can't walk yet. Still using 2 crutches at the moment....

Ive been on 2mg of dilaudid for about 3 months i have run out early this weekend and couldnt take the pain. I dont want to be on theses anymorej but the withdrawls aare excruciating. Who can prescribe this methadone?

Hello 50.....in an earlier post I wrote....I explained how I have a bone disorder that makes my bones too hard...therefor causing me to have well over 3-400 fractures since birth...I am 35 years old..detoxing is rough...especially if u go cold turkey...talk to your doc about rehab..your insurance will cover it...u have to be committed to quitting...but also...how are u gonna manage your pain...look on the internet for bee therapy...it sounds crazy....but for arthritis...this really works...I know a bee keeper in my area that will take honey bees and sting u in the problem areas...my email is .....email me and I will tell u more about it...I'm kinda busy at work now...good luck...Matt

i agree withyou as to tapering down ur milligrams. it all depends on how bad you want to do it, and will. if you dont take say 2 pills less aday you really wont feel the difference except in ur own brain thoughts. ive tapered on my own from seven 80mgs oxys plus eight 30mgs breakthrouh pills to only 4 or 5 30mgs pills wiyh no more 80s at all. now with the probs in getting oxys at the pharmacys i switched to dilaudids 4 mgs at just 3 aday. went through moderate withdrawls at nite from the switch but now im ok with that dose and after my next appt. im going to cut it more so hopefully with in 2 months i hope to be free. SO IT CAN BE DONE ALONE AND I YHINK YOU HAVE TO SLOWLY CUT BACK MGS SO WHEN U DO GET SYMTOMS THEY ARE FAR LESS THAN IF YOU DO IOT ON MEGA MGS GOOD LUCK PEOPLE CAUSE IT SUCKS ALOT SO WHEEN WHEEN WHEEN FOR EASE OF WITHDRAWLS

1. Reduce (as suggested ) the dose and while taking Medicine , visualize that you are getting and feeling Healthy , Better .Pray if you are Believer.
2Start day with Meditation and repeat before going to bed.
3.Ensure light Dinner and take 80% calories by dinner.
4. Start Pranayam (Breathin exercise) & Yoga immediately.
5.Get a Good Massage.
I am Speaking from Experience after similar pains after Heart Attack.

Would like to know How sandra tapered off her medication. I am down to 3 to 6 4mg tablets a day and would like to get off this drug. I was taking for severe back pain due to prostate cancer, the cancer has metastisized to my spine, ribs and lower back skeletal system. the pain is gone thanks to radiation treatment.

i just want to say that methadon is harder and longer to detox from. i have bean trying to cut back but the truth is u have to quit cold . over come the laziness by getting out of bed when u cant sleep instede of fighting to try to sleep. allso try to hang out with friends that u can talk all day with cause alltho the pain is real if u can get your mind off it it realy dose help ....it is hard im still trying after 4 years but iv tryed quiting a few times but this time im keeping real bisy and im further then i have ever bean....just remeber tho its going to take all you got ..want it or it wont work

to be honest, i am 4 years clean from herion and methadone. I recently had my first rib on the right side removed and have been on dilaudid for 7 months. i take 2mgs every 12 hours, and am moving to one mg once a day. if you do it slowly you'll be okay after you body adjusts (roughly 3-5 days). if you can help it DO NOT go on methadone. i was on that 4 years ago, and quit cold turkey. i was sick with withdrawal for 8 months. not worth it AT ALL. if you eat well and keep hydrated and positive (and actually want it, and have the drive to stick with it) anything is possible. even if you are just physically addicted, talking to people help. physical addiction and mental addiction are a thin line. good luck
