I am only somewhat comforted to know I am not the only one who truly NEEDS Drixoral. I tried another product in desperation and ended up in the emergency room with what I thought was a heart attack. Thank God it was just a bad reaction to a different allergy/sinus preparation.

Is the manufacturer blind and deaf to these complaints, pleadings and laments? I wish I could make something myself! Moving the plant my arse!

I've been trying to get Drixoral also and no one has it. It is the only thing that works to pull fluid from my ears. A Canada Pharmacy says they have it. Don't know.

response to Bethg/ #59
If they start making Drixoral again,
have your doctor write a prescription for it. I did and was getting a month's supply.
Good Luck!

Why in the world would a company take a selling product off the market just because they are relocating? Makes no sense at all. I live in Augusta Georgia, allergy capital of the South. I've been taking Drixoral for about 35 years and nothing else can compare. All I can figure is It must be made from petroleum by- products or in IRAQ! I didn't mind showing my ID to get it. Why can't they continue production?
What a bunch of hooey!

Drixoral is the only drug that helps my wife's sinus problems. she has taken it for over 20 years. You can get it from Canadaon the internet. It does not make sense that a drug company would take a product off the Market only in the U.S. because they are moving their Manufacturing facilities. There must be more to it. It was a hassle to get them when they were available because of the ridiculous restrictions placed on law abiding citizens by our government.

Wow - I am so glad to see so many other people who have experienced that Drixoral is the ONLY or best thing that works. I used to use it a lot years ago (they also had an excellent Drixoral just for coughing and for some reason it dissapeared too!!) for allergies and recently discovered it was working for my migraines. which is amazing!! I discovered while getting over a cold that I was not having migraines while taking Drixoral and it's a lot cheaper than the prescription Imitrex. I was so excited to re-discover Drixoral and now suddenly it is GONE!!

Does anyone know if one Canadian pharmacy is safer than the other for ordering it?

I'm going to try to get my doctor to prescribe some of the other things mentioned but I have been SO FRUSTRATED running into the same experiences and replies at drugstores about the company!!!

And I am yet another drixoral user since the 70's. I have pressure in my ears and headaches which only drixoral will relieve. At my Dr's suggestion, I tried Zyrtec-D. Though not as good as drixoral, it is close. It must have the D, and you will have to sign for it. Drug Mart keeps it behind the registers. I purchased 20 in a box for $20 something, but they had a smaller box available for less. Good luck to us all.

I have been taking Drixoral for 40 years (it started out as a prescription drug) and I am lost without it. It is the only medication that works on my sinuses and with allergy summertime here I'm in trouble. HELP!

I was shocked when I found this website and learned that so many others were suffering like me. I have been taking Drixoral for about 10 years or so and it is the only thing that WORKS for me. Like the others I too get sick and worry I may end up in the hospital. I also have allergies to smoking, perfume, dust, etc. I have been without Drixoral for about 2 months. I tried Clariton, makes me sick and dizzy. I don't like Zyrtec at all, was sick in bed for a week straight. I tried the prescription when it was new and it makes me sleepy. I am using Advil Cold and Allergy but its not the same. I can't wait another year either. Will try the Canada route.

I'm another 20+ year user of Drixoral. I started taking an enzyme, Serrapeptase, in December and have been able to reduce my antihistamine use by 1/2 to 2/3 since I have been taking it. Before beginning the serrapeptase I would have a sinus infection every 3 to 4 months. It has been seven months with no antibiotics. The absence of Drixoral has been uncomfortable, but nothing like it would have been before serrapeptase. If you suffer with sinus and allergies, please give this a try. It also works as an anti-inflammatory.

I have had a chronic cough for years and have been to 3 different doctors to treat it. I've tried everything from Nexium (doctor thought it was acid reflux) to inhalers to antibiotics, had all the tests , including allergies, ( which , by the tests, I don't have, by the way) etc., etc., but no one can figure out what is the cause. Finally my GP told me a doctor in Mass. found Drixoral to cure 90+ % of chronic coughs. I just yesterday started to take Drixoral,(had to look hard for it), and it does make my stuffy nose feel better, and I don't seem to be coughing as much, but it makes me so sleepy! Any suggestions? Also, does anyone else out there use this medicine to treat a cough? My symptoms are a dry cough which comes in fits, especially after brisk activity, or when I'm about to talk on the phone(!?!), or just at random, plus some occasional mild nausea, and some stuffiness that is pretty constant. Do you have these symptoms ? How do you treat them? Thanks for any help.

I suspect they are changing the chemicals that put Drixoral behind the counter and off the shelf. I am sure they have seen their sales drop since Drixoral was moved. Frankly, moving OTC drugs behind the counter to fight meth production is a typical, impetent American response to a problem. The response will not make a dent in reducing meth production, and serves to only inconvenience the honest consumer. But hey, your government officals get to say, look what we are doing to fight the war on drugs. Anyway, I saw my physician and got a presciption for Lodrane -- which is working very well for me.

I read with interest all of the comments w/re to Drixoral. Has anyone else experienced severe itching or other skin ailments, after doing without this drug?

I am reassured that I'm not the only one getting sick off Drixoral. I have found a temporary solution, maybe it'll help you too. I am taking a plain antihistamine (like Benadryl) and then using (Ayr brand) saline nose spray for my sinusitis. There is NO OTHER OTC mediciine with Drixoral's ingredients! Both are 4-hour, but it sure helps with the nausea and listlessness. I also have hayfever and just the little bit of antihistamine keeps me from running a fever. I think we should all write the manufacturer a threatening letter!

This is the first time I've been to this site, but I found it when I did a search for Drixoral. It is amazing to know that there are so many others who rely on Drixoral to help my alleriges, since nothing else will work. But it is distressing to learn that I won't be able to get it anymore. I just got off the phone with the manufacturer and got the same story about moving facilites. I told them how ridiculous it was that there were no plans to provide the med's while the transitioned to a new plant. She claims they're losing money on this whole deal. Something is weird. Has anyone tried to import it from Canada??

One other thing: I totally swear by nasal irrigation to maintain healthier sinuses- buy a Neilmed bottle and use it. It works wonders!! I still need my Drixoral, but flushing out my sinuses regularly really helps.

Drixoral has always been my #1 choice when I have a cold or the flu. It's the only thing that helps treat the symptoms, yet allows me to work or sleep, depending on which one I use. I have tried every major pharmacy chain and walmart, etc. No one seems to know why they cannot get it, including phamacists....?, which is weird. wouldn't they notify phamacies md's etc., if they were going to pull a major drug like this off the shelves for reformaulation..? Unless.....the reason they were reformulating it had something to do with health dangers that had been reported from original formula and they did not want to bring any attention to themselves in an effort to avoid possible lawsuits.. Either way, I will not use this medication until they have come out publically explaining this strange situation.
