How Long Does It Take For Lexamil To Work (Top voted first)
UpdatedHi, My doctor has prescribed 10 mg lexamil for me and I havnt started taking it yet. I've been suffering with anxiety for a while and taking .5 mg alzam and 7.5 mg zopiclone to manage the condition. However the last 3 months ive been having tight chest pains, been for ecgs xrays etc, all clear..doc prescribed muscle relaxant which works a little bit but I find if i take half a zopiclone it really eases off the tightness immediately. I know this has something to do with gaba receptors but what I would really like to know is if anyone else has had these symptoms and if going on 10mg lexamil in conjunction wit the alzam n zopiclone will help with the anxiety?

Hello, Ash! How are you?
Yes, Lexamil might help more, but it can take about 4 to 5 weeks to reach its full level of efficacy in your body.
The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and weight changes.
Have you started taking it, yet?
Hi verwon thanks for your reply. I havnt started taking them yet but seems like i should, the chest pains have become intolerable. Ive made appointments with a cardiologist and pulmonologist to rule out any issues there so once thats done then ill know how to go forward. Im just really scared of side effects especially if it kicks up the anxiety. But i guess ill never know unless i take it lol.
Re: Ash (# 2)
Hi Ash, i myself have never before suffered from Anxiety or any related condition, until beginning of last month when i too had symptoms of chest pains and stomach illness.
I didn't tell the GP that the month before that i experienced some grief when my father and brother-in-law passed away from cancer and a heart attack respectively. Without that knowledge the GP gave me stomach meds.
When the condition of my stomach kept recurring i eventually revealed my anxiety and he confirmed it was the cause of all my physical symptoms. He then prescribed Lexamil 10mg for six months and Zopax 0.25mg when needed for the first ten days.
I was expecting immediate results with the Lexamil and was a bit worried when i didn't, because the last thing i want is to go on a higher dosage. Thus when i read this thread i was thankful to read that it only works after 4-5 weeks, so my experience is completely normal.
The Zopax is more of a quick fix, but i have heard it can become addictive so i wont be using it after the 10 days anymore, ill stick to the lexamil and hopefully sooner than soon i wont need any medication at all because this too shall pass.
Let me know how it has worked for you.
This is my first week.
