Coming Off Propranolol (Page 7) (Top voted first)
Updatedi have stopped taking propranolol 80mg 3days ago and would like to know if there is any side effects coming off them
I've been taking propranolol 80g 1 a day for about 2 years and my asthma hasn't been right since ,I recently went to see my gp who said propranalol maybe the problem ,I take it for anxiety reasons but since my doctor told me that I've stopped them it's been 4 days now an I'm worried iv done the wrong thing is it dangerous?
I was taking propranalol 10mg daily for years I have suddenly stop it no tapering of them I had it for anxiety but want to try on my own without them I have only a really sore stomache I have been of them for over a week with not a lot of symptoms apart from that and sleep will I be OK as started to worry after reading some stories on here.
Yes I totally agree with you.i felt the same so I've gone cold turkey today and already feel more human
Does anyone know Is it safe to stop taking prop 80mg a day (for migraine)- I've only been taking it for two weeks and have just put on 5lbs even though I had been steadily been losing weight by going to gym and dieting?! I want off these things.
It's been living hell getting off this horrible med. I'm down to a half of a 10mg pill per day will stop any day now. So horrible my heart rate has gotten so high I'm always short of breath and tired never was I like this before the med.
chest pain can be a side effect of coming off the propranolol too quickly - you should get worked up by a cardiologist IMHO (I'm a doc)
I been taking this med for four days now, I feel careless about everything and chest feels very tight, along with headaches. I'm actually taking two diff types of med right now two in the morning and two at night Lamotrigine 25mg; propranolol 20mg now this medication suppose to help me with my anger an anxiety but I just snapped today for no reason and became very agitated..
Really. Propranalol for anxiety? What's the point? My doctor told me it's a beta-blocker and might help with my RLS. It did, slightly.
Good Morning, I take B-50 from holland and barrett. It includes all the b vitamins which are the main vitamins for depression and is the best thing in the world for restless leg also, I've been using for years and years, it is the main one to use daily you have to be very careful which ones you use every day for the nervous systym this is the best.
Kind Regards Louise Johnson
The only way I can answer you is through my own experience. I took it for my restless leg syndrome. I went off it "cold turkey." Never noticed anything. It did help the RLS, but there were no cold turkey side effects for me.
Yes! I was put on propanolol for migraines, but could not handle the side effects. (excessive sweating, extreme fatigue, weight gain, feeling faint) You need to wean off. Each time I lowered my dose, I had a horrible migraine.
Personally, I took it for a couple years, I think I was taking 40mg daily. I was taking it for RLS. I never felt anything from it and my doctor never felt the need to wean me off it. It's a beta-blocker. A lot of people take it to overcome fear of public speaking although it wouldn't have worked for me in that regard.
I can't imagine using it for anxiety as someone else expressed. I take an anti-anxiety for that. Curious, what was the reason for you taking it?
RogerAlien... I was given it for Migraines. I saw an ENT doctor then a neurologist who said it wasn't migraines but my ENT doc said it was!!!?
Yes I was feeling like that. My doctor prescribed me the wrong thing. So help me god
How long did it take u to feel better without it? I'm on day five now and my heart is pounding but near like it was when I was taking the terrible betablocker. Please help I start back to nursing school in a week.
Doctors can be *****s...it kills your libido.....and my mood has been up and down...only been on a small dose for a few days; 20mg twice a day....it's helped a bit but it makes me feel like crap.
I take 80 mg of propranolol every day for thyroid symptoms. The tiredness, fatigue and low moods could be side effects so my go told me to take a break from them for a month. Is it safe just to stop, she never mentioned weaning off but just to stop. Not sure now what to do.
I am quite weary about coming off Propranolol. The first time I was prescribed them in 2013. I was only on them for 5 months. This is my second time on them, and it's been just over a year. I'm worried about the withdrawal, side effects, ect... I thought maybe these tablets are the root of my tiredness? I'm not even Depressed but I'm acting like I am. I don't even have the energy or strength to get out of bed or wash myself. All I am doing is sleeping aswell as feeling constantly tired. Please help!
I was put on the same meds for anxiety in October with ramipril for high bp...it now turns out I don't have high bp so consultant stopped my ramipril...everyday I feel lightheaded and unwell. .am now assuming it's the propranolol. ..so I've decided to stop taking it...I'm going back to the cardiologist rather than my gp to find the best way to do this....
