Zolpidem Generic (Page 4)

ALL CVS pharmacies just changed the zolpidem from MYLAN manufacturer (out of PA) to TORRENT in India. Because generics can certain behave differently, I am nervous about taking the (10 mg) oblong peach Torrent brand one after reading some things online. I also don't like the idea of CVS using from out of the country manufacturer which HAS to be due to a better price because MYLAN brand is still very readily available. Any comments?
Most are out if country. Teva is Israeli and the all must pass the FDA standards. I personally think the teva brand is better for anxiety.
ER version also comes as 6.25 strength, not just 12.5
Teva ANYTHING rarely works. I switched from Walgreen's to CVS last month and my baclofen and ambient are more effective. It's peach and oblong. Walgreen's was round white. Was round purple. It was a site like this, that helped me switch. I thought it was me.
I am certain that anyone in our Congress who takes this medication finds a way to buy the brand made by Sanofi. Cannot even get this from Canada as you can other brand name meds. The brand Ambien works well but our plans do not permit this. Also the "generic" from Qualitest is not offered anymore since it was actually the real thing and their agreement with Sanofi ended.
I am having the same problem. Mylan's, purple pill, has worked for me, for years. My send away pharmacy, recently changed manufacture, for cost reasons, The Teva, round white pill will not put me to sleep or keep me asleep. I caledl all my local pharmacies, all of them, now get, generic Ambien, either from manufactures, in Israel or India. Definitely, not the same product, as made in America. Just cost efficient for pharmacies. Does not work!
When I moved I had to change pharmacies. I was taking zolpidem 10mg little round purple pills every night, never had a sleepless night. New pharmacy uses the teva white pills and I'm wide awake 2-3 nights a week. Going on for 3 months now and driving me nuts. How do I find a pharmacy that uses the purple pills?
The small round lavender ones are Mylan 10mg. They work for some people but for me was worse than taking nothing.
Little white round pills, teva/74 are zolpidem 10 mg, generic for ambien.
What color are the mylan brand? Do you know the brand of white round ones? I'm trying to find the manufacturer of round lavender ones. Thanks for your help!
I totally agree with the ineffectiveness of Teva on this drug. I have also had some unpleasant experiences with another generic of Teva
Teva 74 10 mg generic ambien from CVS in Noca Raton, FL 33496 is useless.. might as well take an ASA.
Diazepam Brands: Valium and Diastat are considered extremely addictive and deaths have occurred from misuse, so in the US they are only used for short term issues and if you ask for refills you be labeled "addict". But now there are several sleep aids starting with the natural melatonin, Tylenol PM and their rivals versions of PM. Try them and explain they don't work so you would like to try Ambien, Lunesta (this one makes everything taste like copper pennies for the entire day), or one that the doctor can recommend. That will show the doctor that you know you need help sleeping and aren't fishing for diazepam, valium or lorazapam which are in a class meant for anxiety but has a side effect that makes you sleepy.
I think it was probably close to a year ago there was a lot of TEVA bashing going on. I've been on TEVA brand zolpidem for a couple of years. Never even thought of looking until I read that here. It's the only TEVA product I take and I've had no problem with it. The only time I took brand name was when you get those 7 day free trial coupons. Naturally, if I could afford and my insurance allowed, I would take brand Ambien, and everything else. At least the Norco generic hydrocodone is still Watson.
All I have ever experienced is a change in my body, getting older, etc. The generics still do what they're meant to do, but nothing has ever not worked. I'll say some to different degrees, but all have worked. Also, I admit, I have the luxury of catching a few hours throughout the day.
John, clonazepam is a benzo. It's in the sane family diazepam, alprazolam etc. You got lucky because if the Ambien. But check with HR and see if you have a script for clonazepam they shouldn't be able to give you grief over it. It's a test for illucit drugs. But I don't know what your job is. It takes several days for your last dose to get out of your system. So it would be tricky for them to prove you were under the influence and tricky for you to prove you weren't. Hope this helps.
I completely understand your predicament.
I'm in my 40's.... my sleeping disorder began when I was 19.
I 've done everything over the years to combat insomnia.
I started on (brand) Ambien when I was 23. With insurance regulations and changes over the years in the United States, I was forced to go to generic.
I've taken Zolpidem..(Ambien generic)... made by EVERY single Zolpidem manufacturer out there.
Of course most everyone on this forum misses Zolpidem made by Qualitest.
There are a few out there that are..."ok."
I've been on Zolpidem since I was 23. I'll probably be on it forever.
However, my insurance is weird and sometimes they don't cover it so I tried something different the other night.
I tried 2 Vistaril (hydroxyzine)for anxiety / allergies. It is a non-habit-forming prescription your doctor may be able to prescribe.
It does make you fall asleep but might not be for a long period of time... it might help.... Just a suggestion.
Good luck. I soo feel for you!
I've been suffering from sleeping problems since I was 17. Then a few deaths happened in the family and then it got worse. Now I'm only having 2 hours of sleep a night. The doctors here in the UK will not give me any sleeping pills at all. They are so strict because you get *****s selling their prescriptions, then it ruins it for the ones like me who really need it. I don't know how much longer my body can function with no sleep but I don't know how to get a doctor to prescribe sleeping pills like zopiclone or diazepam. I'm responsible and would take only 1 per night like I'm supposed too. Can anyone offer some advice? {edited for privacy}. I'm desperate. Thank you.
I am taking the Torrent 10 mg from Rite Aid. I have had no problem with them. They seem to work just fine. Especially on an empty stomach.
Ok I had to respond. This is blatently untrue. India has lax standards, technology, and quality standards. They are nothing like the pharma labs in this country. Some of them get lucky that the fillers and other gunk dont overshadow the base drug (if they even put in the correct amount in India). All the best ones were made unsuprisingly in the US. Sanofi brand, Qualitest, etc.
I take the peach-colored Torrent Zolpidem which is 10 mg. I have no problem with this pill, even though my doctor has instructed me to split the pill in half and take only 5 mg.
Many pills are made in India, including most brands of Tramadol. Because a pill is made in India is not a cause for concern; Indian mfrs. have high standards.
My opinion on the following generics:
1. Mylan - the worst
2. Teva - slightly better
3. Torrent - best generic so far
Qualitest was the best generic but is no longer available. With generics the FDA approves them based on same ingredients but not necessarily on the absorption factor of fillers etc. There are big lawyers engaged to defend generics so once they are approved it's almost impossible to get them unapproved. All you can do is try different generics and do not be afraid to exert pressure on your pharmacy and insurance company to enable different generic versions to fill the prescription.
Most workers just do not want to go through the extra step. Insurance plans have to enable different versions at no additional cost to you. Do not confuse it with your mail order fulfillment through your insurance company. All insurance plans enable you to fill your RX through chain retail pharmacies. Good luck and be adamant as there are a lot of grumpy sleepless people out there.
