My husband and I have had our daughter, which is now 30, tested for everything and the doctors can't seem to be able to give us a diagnosis, and things are not getting any better. My beautiful daughter has struggled and suffered so much and it breaks my heart to know that the Yutopar that was given to me, affected my baby. My daughter is the one who suffers from it on a daily basis. My second child is normal, and I did not take the drug while carrying him. I would really like to talk to all of you, something needs to be done to care for these kids that are now adults that can not cope. They sleep, eat, are extremely depressed, suicidal thoughts, learning problems, unable to conform to society, lies, bi-polar, anti-social, can't function in everyday life and with everyday problems.We need help. If anyone out there could possible contact me {edited for privacy}.

My daughter is 21 now. I took Yutopar pills after going into labor at 20 weeks. I suffered from shaking hands and heart palpitations. I had her 2 months premature as it was. She was healthy. Then. Now she suffers from psoriatic arthritis and as I've been reading, she has always had sleeping issues. She suffered from colic for 7 months and severe ear infections as a baby and young child. She is big boned and over weight and has always gained weight easily. As I have read, she is unscathed by neurological issues and has never had a learning disability. I am really concerned for her constant pain from her arthritis.

Thank you for letting us know this about your daughter...I'm so glad to hear she doesn't have the problems we are facing...you are the first parent that has found this site to respond that you took this medication and your daughter is normal with the exception of arthritis... And I know that is bad to be so young...my daughter is 32 and has the body of a 65 year old...she to has lots of joint pain..though she has never been diagnosed with arthritis before...my daughter at the age of 21 had a gastric bypass.... Lost 180 pounds in a years time... She has almost gained all of it back...does your daughter go to college?

Im all in for filing major legal suit. My son needs help to this day and has no insurance, is homeless and basically cannot cope with daily life. He is 29 and prison or jail isn't the answer.

How long were you given the drug and at what dosage? I too was given the same drug in 1982. It was given intravenously for 5 days. My son too has had social issues and is now on anti depressants and probably will be for he rest of his life.

I recently contacted the NY times about an article they published in 1987 about the drug Ritodrone/Yutapur. They recently forwarded it to their Science dept. I asked if they could please do a follow up and contact me. I also mentioned this site so they can see the result of this hideous drug. I will keep u all posted. Ty

I'm so sorry Bonnie ...my heart aches for each child, mom, dad, sibling, family member that has dealt with the aftermath of this horrendous drug. It saddens and infuriates me to no end to know there are millions of kids in the prison system, on the streets, in mental facilities, or graves because of this drug. It is a nightmare for all.

They gave me Yutopar in 1986 as well. My daughter is 28 now and her anger is escalating and I'm worried about her. Please let me know if anyone found some help. Thank you.

Info on the drug manufacturer of Ritodrine. Merrill Dow Pharmaceuticals who created the drug no longer is in business. Sanofi was the last company to buy them and they closed their last facility in 2009.

We were finally able to get an MRI done, only after insisting on it. A small "spot" was found on/in brain but doctors didn't seem concerned. They also had no idea what caused it or how long it had been there. Have been told by all doctors seen that the treatment would be the same (meds) for his symptoms. We are still searching for the right meds for ALL of symptoms. We've finally found a good, caring doctor that is working on that. Seems like this is going to be a lifetime ordeal even with meds. Therapy and counseling will always be needed. I would like to hear from anyone else that has had any type of brain scanning done and the results. I've read that Yutopar affects soft muscle tissue, so now I'm wondering if the "spot" found could be a result of the Yutopar, if that could be the the root of the hell my son is going through. Just knowing what is causing this would help us to move forward. Once again, not blaming doctors for trying to save my baby's life, but angry as hell at the maker of drug and FDA for allowing its use. So if anyone has had brain MRI, SPECT scan, PET scan, etc. can we please hear from you.

Everyone is interested in taking action however no attorneys seem to want to touch this..No one has come back to this that I can tell. I've only been in contact with one lady...this is sad and there seems to be no resolve. Because we can't seem to band together.

There seems to be no meds that help her. Yet she suffers and nothing I can do to help her. It's almost like she lives in another world ..and I believe in a way she does. Very heartbreaking. .
