No registration is required and your identity remains anonymous.I had a fall, and the emergency room said to go off the med for the night to help the bleeding stop, and to follow up with cardiologist tomorrow. I did this, but the cardio did not return my call, so I am unsure if it is safe to stop it for a second day. How do you wean it down? One day on, one day off? I need the injury to heal, but dont want to risk other problems. I wsd put on yhe med for afib.. ## Hello, Cecilia! How are you? What did you end up doing? It can be risky to take too many days in a row off of this medication, without tapering, since that increases the risk of clots and adverse events. Did your cardio get in touch? In most cases, it would be best to just take the one day off, as the ER instructed and, if in doubt, call them back for further instructions.

That is a sign of a blood clot. Im assuming you mean calf. That is what happened to me and I ignored it until I ended up in the hospital with multiple clots in my lung. I am also on xarelto now. They told me if I have calf pain I need to be checked immediately.

Yes, many people have reported similar side effects from taking Xarelto. It;s weekend of the 4th.I read this on a forum but can't find it again to make sure it said lactaid. Please help . ## Hello, Pat! How are you? Did you find a solution, yet? If your stomach is burning that badly, it may be that this just isn't the right medication for you to take. You may need to switch to something else. How long have you been taking it and the Omeprazole?
1 REPLY UpdatedHusband has been on Xarelto for a least two months. He has had a steady flow of very bloody urine, which the doctor is not concerned about for over 6 months. Last night and today he has no blood in the Urine, and goes very little. He has Retroperitoneal Fibrosis of the Ureter, Kidney, and Bladder. This is odd to us that all of a sudden the bleeding has stopped. ## I would suggest speaking to a urologist, rather than a general practitioner. A doctor should be concerned about any unusual bleeding, when he is on a medication like this, it shouldn't be ignored or brushed off. The fact that he's going very little, now, could also signify a problem and this needs to be checked out, as soon as possible. Is he on any other medications?
1 REPLY UpdatedI am on xarelto, I am worried about salicin in white willow bark in instaflex, should I worry about bleeding? ## Havent found an answer to my question? I want to safely take instaflex with salicin ingredient with xarelto blood thiner is it safe? ## Salicin in instaflex white willow bark can it be takin safely with xarelto blood thinner? ## Hello, Al! How are you? I answered on the other post you made, but I will add it to this one, as well. Natural remedies are not tested for possible interactions with prescription medications, so there is nothing available on this. I'd suggest not taking anything, unless your doctor approves, just to be careful. Why do you want to take it?
5 REPLIES UpdatedHave been on Warfarin since 2002 due to DVT left leg. I have Factor5Leidon half value and therefore i am on a very high dose of Warfarin (18mg/pd). I am also a Type2 Diabetic(Insulin Dependent). I would like to change to Xarelto to allow me to use natural remedies etc to help with the Diabetes. Warfarin doesn't lend itself to being mixed with too many other products. Have discussed this with my GP and she is not keen on me changing over. She believes that there has not been adequate testing and trials for Xarelto. There are also no published papers on the effects of Xarelto with Diabetes. I would like to know more about the drug in relation to Diabetes before jumping ship from Warfarin care. ## Hello, Shane! How are you? What your doctor told you is correct, there is nothing out yet...
1 REPLY UpdatedCan salicin in white willow bark be takin with xarelto? ## Hello, Al! How are you? Since the Salicin acts as an anti-inflammatory and can be used to create Aspirin, I'd suggest not mixing them, without double checking with your prescriber, because it may cause some additional blood thinning. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I am on xarelto blood thinner , my knees are bone to bone arthritic,I would like to take instaflex that has 15percent salicin ingredience in white willow bark I want to know if I can take instaflex safely with my xarelto? I am from lantana fl. Don't have a correct answer yet ,can any MD. Help.? Thank you.
2 REPLIES UpdatedI can kick myself ... I am on the tail end of my xarelto and I have taken a Advil by mistake should I be freaking out right nowrú. ## Hope you are feeling ok. I took aspirin once and there were no problems. They want you to avoid drugs that can cause stomach bleeding. My guess is you are ok today. ## Yes I am ok I was scared because of the warnings ## It needs to be noted here that it's not just stomach bleeding, but any increased risk of bleeding, which most NSAIDs, such as Advil can cause. If you require any type of medical care, or get a cut within a few days of taking the Advil, make sure to let medical personnel know. And if you see any signs of internal bleeding, such as vomiting blood or bloody stool, you should seek medical attention. Is there anything else I can help w...
3 REPLIES UpdatedI took Xarelto for 4 months. I put on 20 pounds, developed severe feet, and knee pain. always tired some blurry vision. I've been off it for 10 days and still have the symptoms. ## Hello, Al! How are you? You are just one of many that have complained about such side effects from Xarelto. It will likely take another week, or two, before you start feeling back to normal. What have you replaced it with?
1 REPLY UpdatedDoes Xarelto cause weight gain specifically. ## I wonder myself if my weight gain is from Xarelto. I have AFIB my Doctor gave me Xarelto I had a follow up in two weeks. I had decided in the meantime to lose some weight , being tired all the time I drink lots of coffee. 7-9-14 cups a day and I like them with sugar & creamer. I figure that I was drinking in between 600-800 calories at eight cups much more if I drank additional cups ( creamers can vary 20-30 cal to 50 or more). So I went cold turkey to Black coffee only and drank much less for the two weeks. I thought I would lose at least 1-2 pounds on the next visit but instead gained 8 pounds thats in two weeks time. OK I'm going to give it more time and see if something else is going on besides the Xarelto. I"ll check back ...
4 REPLIES UpdatedI have been off Cerelto for about 6-weeks. Still feel tired and have a little unsteady walking mobility. Will this go away? ## Hello, John! How are you feeling? After 6 weeks, thing should be starting to improve. Have you consulted your doctor? What other medications do you take?
1 REPLY UpdatedI am taking pradaxa and want to change to a one dose a day drug. I have afib and want to make sure it is safe. I have only been on pradaxa for about 4-5 months. ## Hi Don, Generally, determining the safety of a drug is something your doctor should do based on your medical records and other personal health factors. But as far as any interactions go, I would suggest waiting till the Pradaxa is out of your system before starting up with Xarelto. Reason being is that there are potentially unsafe interactions between these two drugs. Quoted below are the precautions you should be aware of: "Talk to your doctor before using Pradaxa (dabigatran) together with Xarelto (rivaroxaban). Combining these medications can increase the risk of serious or life-threatening bleeding complications. If t...
5 REPLIES Updatedcan i take instaflex with xarelto ## Hello, Ollie! How are you? Since Instaflex is just an over the counter supplement, it has not been evaluated for possible interactions with prescription medications. Have you talked to your doctor about it? They may have a better idea on whether or not its safe from the experiences of other patients.
1 REPLY UpdatedStarting taking 15mg (2x daily) of Xarelto approx 2 weeks ago. Skin itching started EN, no rash. Benedryl does help a little. Then the headahes began. Now, toes, feet, ankles and hands (I look like I have "Miss Piggy's hands in the a.m.) and must remain propped in bed in pillows to get relief. I'm 56, retired law enforcement, non-smoker, very seldom drink but did have total knee replacement surgery 9 months ago. What the hell happened!? I'm retired, divorced and on a fixed income and was told that I was basically a walking time bomb....that he (the hemotologist) was going to have to keep me on anti-coagulants for at least next 9 months, with a repeat CT Scan w/contrast scheduled for 6 months from now to see if the body has absorbed them. In the mean time, he doesn't ...
2 REPLIES UpdatedI have a n option to switch to Xarelto 10 mg twice daily from Claxin injection 0.8 ml twice daily for the next 5 months. I am undergoing chemotherapy (BEP) post removal of my testicular cancer. Question is if this drug is considered safe for such long durations? what are the side effects? ## I have been on Xarelto since Feb '13 due to multiple Pulmonary Emboli nada clotting disorder that Coumadin just wasn't working for. Knock on wood, to date I have had no problem whatsoever. The only negative that was told to me by the Dr., is that there is no antidote to reverse the bleeding effect if there was some sort of trauma... car accident, that sort of thing. Vitamin K can be used to reverse Coumadin, but it won't work for Xarelto. The risk of bleeding is higher, so no ibuprofen, ...
1 REPLY UpdatedI see the instruction for taking Xarelto with the evening meal. But by extensive reading of the subject online I cannot find a reason. Or for the need to take with food. Because of my living condition it would be much more convenient to take at lunchtime with less chance of forgetting a dose. ## The reason that it's taken with the evening meal is that they've found that taking it at any other time seems to decrease its efficacy, though they aren't sure why this occurs. Learn more Xarelto details here. However, it is known that our bodies do change somewhat throughout the day and react differently throughout. Thus, it is advisable to take it with your evening meal, just as instructed. Are there any other questions or comments? ## I was told to take Xarelto in the evening sinc...
