Withdrawals From Soma, Morphine, Xanax, Oxycodone - Help Please (Page 10) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI have been in pain management for years, lost my doctor along with other patients, and primary won't fill or says she can't and messes up my progress to get in new pain management in time. Now I'm losing Soma, was 3 times a day, now I have 7 tabs left. Was on 45 mg of morphine 3 times, oxycodone 15s and xanax 5 mg 3 times a day. Which she said she can not write for. Why, if she knew or thought this pain clinic was prescribing more than standard, did she never say a word until i had to go to her in desperation for this? Your primary that has to refer you and get info to get into a new pain clinic, I have very serious health issues no one is dealing with, I feel alone and suicidal. I even told my doctor and the old pain clinic staff that left, and not a bit of help, yet they know i have a history of heart failure, bleeds in brain from pain issues. No one cares, our country is falling apart and i asked again today for something for bp and high pulse, got nothing for it but a nurse, they did not send in the info two times that could have had me in pain management by now, and in having the colostomy i had to postpone since I wont do it with out pain mgmt on board.
Today they cut me back more 1 soma for a few days then no more, oxycodone 10mg 3 times to be cut on mon again and morphine cut from 45 3 x to 3o 2 times. All i can do is cry and sleep then cry more then no food, not drinking, feel horrible, and have lost desire to live and fight. These doctors put all on others and not one seems to care or no what to do with all of us real pain patients. I just want to die at this point for i am so tired of suffering and its only going to get worse. I feel so bad for all of the posts i have seen and know im not alone. All i see is the same four walls every day, go no where and before i felt i had some reason to fight and live to fight cancer and even cancer doc can not help get you in pain mang. They said today it will take at least 8 weeks to get in and ill be dead then or out of meds in a stroke etc. That is my biggest fear. Have had 3 bleeds in brain from this and pain is no joke.
The nurse said today we all are paying for those that dr shop and are addicted and i said i thought even addiction is a matter that needs treatment. They counted my tabs. I take drugs panels, did nothing wrong and most of my pain is caused from docs that did botched surgeries and cancer and injury from accident. I dont no what we all can do or if there is hope but it does not do good to ask on this site if someone knows where to get meds. Its not just docs its insurances companies and pharmacies. It's all getting way too much and hard for even a well person to figure out. I am ready to go home to my maker and wish he would take me soon. I am so tired of the lack of proper dr care in our country and its so sad i feel and pray for you all i want to know who is going to be responsible when i die or end up in a stroke due to this. Xanax withdrawals will be the worst too for i had them before for you can not sleep to escape the torture and they only get worse with time unlike opiates most docs dont seem to know this. I guess i have heart rate of 139 now and bp 200 over 133.
You don't know this person's pain, that's between her and her doctor. If she has been over prescribed...and has only gotten from ONE doctor (at a time) than that is the prescribing doctors fault. He or she is the one that went to medical school. We go in and they try to figure out what causes our pain, if they can fix it, or cannot and they can only treat the symptoms....pain. how dare you sound so judgemental! The doctor is ultimately responsible, and it is IRRESPONSIBLE AS HELL for her to be prescribed as Lloyd these for years, and then expect her to go cold turkey. Doctors fears of reprisal from the D.E.A., are what's driving the illicit drug epidemic. It is also driving people to kill themselves, from pain, from withdrawals (from legally prescribed drugs) ....yes, there are consequences to taking habit forming narcotics, and other drugs. If people didn't need them, then they would not be made. People need to make informed decisions before taking drugs ...any drug. But as your doctor should inform you, and you enter into a management contract. They are breaking at the very least "first do no harm" by not helping her in the aftermath. It's a pretty dire situation to be in...hope no one judges you too harshly should it ever happen to YOU! peace.
Thank you so much! You totally said what I TRIED to say. Even if her Primary Dr. Did not prescribe those meds. I'm sure with proof from (empty bottles) the pain management was giving those to her, she would not of gotten herself in trouble by weaning this 60 year old lady down, , or at least given her enough to get her by until she could refer her to another pain specialist. It is inhumane, and I fear for this ladies health and sanity . And really...the know it alls so caught up on on. The idea of it being the patients responsibility to research potentially addictive drugs, I thought that's why we paid our doctors so much money, why theyes go to 8 years of medical school.....my mother completely trusts her doctor, she has no idea , and wouldn't think to question what he thinks is best for her. (I do...) that is more a generational thing I think. But don't judge desperate people on here asking for help. If you can't avoid being a snot...just shut your mouth and keep it moving. Karma is a bit**!
Posters,
ADDICTION and physical tolerance are NOT the same. As a licensed professional I could be SUED for medical malpractice to infer that someone in legitimate pain is an addict or drug seeking.
ADDICTION is a DSMIV diagnosis and an ADDICT will not take 30 days of medication in 28 to 30 days but in 3 days. He or she will do anything not to feel who they are. A pain patient does not want this at all, he or she needs quality of life so life itself does not end.
We have about two years once Obama is out to restore profit medicine which will resolve much of this government intervention.
I have posted emergency intervention (Methadone clinic) for any pain patient who is suddenly without long acting opioids. The only thing Hitler did right is have a scientist create Methadone the cheapest long acting pain medication known to man and it will remain cheap in the U.S. for we do not want junkies busting crimes and Methadone holds them for 24 hours when titrated to proper dose.
You will not be a pain patient you will be 'I will become an addict due to the loss of my medications within 24 hours if you do not help me.' During your transition get a new pain specialist and do not leave until this battle ends in D.C.

PEACE
Fibrocherryonthecake, its not that they want the high, they want to keep pain under control. Doctors used to priscribe harcher medications but due to all the OD's they have cut down on alot of meds. All pain meds can be addicted so you have to watch what you are taking and amounts of meds. Talk to your doctor and ask him to ween you down your meds, its very nice Ms. Fibro its very nice of you to suggest what medications she should be on but remember you're not a doctor and it is up to her doctor to decide what would be best for her.
When obama care n gov.scott refused money . I lost all my specialist. The only way discrimination worked for me is i do get pychiatrist. When i was forced back on medicaid had to wait 6 months to even get apt. No xanax worse withdrawls ive ever been through . I told him please prescribe diazapam for stress because over years when they were cut off i would still be in pain but no withdrawl.
Its ins cos getting away with murder for money again. That's what happens when they take our Drs away and pass us around from specialist to specialist that only knows what murdering thieving insurance tells them to do.
The hydromorphine/ Diladid is strong. Most people get prescribed the 4mg or 8mg.
I wish get off these pills midodrine Hcl 5 mg 3 times a day
Levothroxine 50mg 1 time a day
Gabapentin 300mg 1 before bedtime
Metformin Hcl 500mg 2 times a day
Aspirin 81mg 1 a day
Simvastatin 20 mg 1 a day
Your not helping so keep to yourself. These people shouldnt have to go thru hell because this doctor got shutdown.
I don't understand, what illness do you have? Cancer or...? Withdrawal should be gradual, not all at once .... Try changing doctors, hospital, etc... Wish you all the best!
I am opiate dependent per doctor orders! But now, the government is telling all doctors to stop prescribing. So that leaves us Chronic Pain patients left holding the bag! I understand what you are going through. My GP retired and the doctor that he pushed on to doesn't like me one bit! He refuses to refill my scripts that I really need. I am in pain 24/7 and they just don't care. What happened to "do no harm"? I, like you sometimes, just want it to stop so suicide does creep into my thoughts. Try to stay strong.
Omg, I was going to order Kratom tomorrow , this whole situation all of us are in ls a bunch of BULL SH&@!!!! Why would they ban Kratom
Why are you replying in the "third" person? This doesn't make sense to me.
I know what you feel. I have had everything in the book happen to me and my Dr of 15 years retired. I'm on some of same meds. It took me 1 year to find dr to help me and my medical reports. Just keep the chin up and pray like I did and when you get the right dr give documentation to back you up and what I did was kinda set my foot down and tell her "I don't want to die in agony"! She understood after she read those medical reports. Good luck to anyone who suffers in pain and anxiety as I do every day of my life.
Move. This country has sold out. It's like a Purge of killing disabled, elderly, n chronic pain sufferers.
Valium and Xanax are most definitely a schedule 4 narcotic here in Texas. I promise you. And I was never implying in any way that a dog would try to fool a doctor into giving them meds. I was just making a comment about how animals take some of the same drugs that humans do for the same reasons. The only reason I mentioned it is because I work for a company that supplies veterinarians with meds. I have also been prescribed either valium or Xanax for many years do to ptsd I suffer from multiple combat deployments.
No Mary, the government is not worried about you selling them...they are concerned because people are dying!
People are dying because they are *****s! How do you think they are getting the pills, most likely not from a Dr. Most likely buying them illegally hence her comment about selling them. When taken responsibly you'll be fine, it's the people who misuse and sell them that's the problem. Time to hold them accountable instead of all of us suffering for it!
The FDA regulations are strict. They are really making it hard for people to get the pain relief they need, so yes people are turning to the streets for relief of extreme pain and anxiety. It is a visious circle and the gov wants to know why they have to spend money in Era and rehab that does no good anyway so what do us pain sufferes do for help? I watched my poor mom go out that way and now the FDA is slapping the wrists of the drs who spent years in bed school that want to help but they don't want to put their license on the line!
85% of people who abuse medication never got the medication from the doctor. Few deaths are rarely caused solely due to opiates but due to combining medication such as barbiturates and benzos and alcohol. In 2014 something like 18,000 people died of Opiate prescription medication and 100,000 from all prescription medication combined. While that sound like a lot the number should be put in prospective, such as 480,000 died of smoking related illnesses. Another 300,000 death each year are due to medical mistakes. Alcohol plays a part in one in 10 deaths in this country. For myself I have never had a problem with opiates but I almost died from a GI bleed from Motrin. My point is all medications have some risk. The problem we are having is instead of seeing addiction as a disease we see it as a moral issue. We have always had addiction problems and taking the substance away is not the answer. For example 21.7% of white women will die due to obesity complications. For white men the number is 15%. That is a lot of people but you cannot take food away. Also if you know anything about addiction, when the addict is no longer able to get their drug of choice they can view it as reaching there bottom and get help or move on to some other drug. Unfortunately most addicts go to another drug. It should also be noted that 60 % of those who have started using opiates under the age of 25 never used opiate pain medication however almost all abused alcohol before using opiates. Just a side note marijuana has been viewed as the gateway drug on the road of abusing illegal drugs but in fact 75% of more teens abuse alcohol than marijuana. Unless this country is really going do what is needed and spend the money to do it nothing will change because people will always find ways to abuse something. The key is to deal with making real changes is not taking people med away but has to be handled by multiple fronts which include education, affordable rehab, services to help the addict once clean to learn skills needed to become productive members of society, aftercare and so on. However the biggest hurdle is people attitudes and not understanding that addicts have a disease that is not there fault (however that does not mean they are not responsible for there actions or recovery) and that it is health care issue with the exception of bringing in and the selling of illegal drugs. Until we make that type of commitment the deaths will continue but the only thing that will change is the drug being used.
However just because some people have problems with a medication should not mean that for those who it helps and is responsible with their medication should not be denied with what works best for them. It is called individual medical care. I have been on MS Contin for 16 years and my dose has stayed about the same for the entire time. As my back as gotten worse however I have learned that my pain meds are not going to relieve all my pain and to get the same pain relief as I did 15 years ago I need to do more to help myself like exercise. However I have also learned without the medication my pain is so out of control I am not able to do those thing that help me over all. This not a easy topic and I have seen both side of the problem with addiction with a step-father who was a alcoholic and me as a chronic pain patient. But if I have learned anything in regards to my being able to get my medications is that my health and what helps me live a the best way I can with my disability is that it should not be solely determined by politicians who know nothing about me or my conditions or my medical health but some of the laws and policies that are being put into place that is exactly what is happening. Health care needs to stop being in the hands of the insurance companies and federal and state lawmakers and back to properly trained doctors and better informed patients. Sorry I am all over the place but I wrote this on my phone and there was no way I was going to redo writing everything as new thoughts came to my mind.
