Will Oxycontin Be Changed Back To Original Formula (Page 25)
Updatedis Oxycontin going back to their old formula? OC instead of OP.
The new oc formula does NOT WORK. IM NOT AN ABUSER AND GET MORE RELIEF FROM PANADOL FORTE but not as effective as original oc's. Bring them back and survey people for potential abuse.
I have just been told Sandoz are no longer manafacturing Oxycodone Mod Release.... Back to the plastic crap of Munipharmas everyone!!!! Im devestated.... I have a couple of days left of Sandoz & thats it. Ive just written an email to Sandoz asking for an explaination & for them to reconsider this decision... Everyone please do the same, & make sure you tell them how bad an impact this will be for your quality of life, how terrible the side effects of OP formula are etc. also dont be rude or swear etc. much as you may feel like it! Hopefully, if enough people show how much we need the original formula Oxycontin they will reinstate it.
Hi Tad. What brand are you saying don't work. The Mundipharma ones ?
Sorry people, my pharmacy was informed that Sandoz have discontinued the Oxycodone MR but its not true.... I spoke with a rep from Sandoz this afternoon, they had a problem keeping up with supply, some wholesalers are informing pharmacies that its no longer available, probably to get rid of Mundipharma OP crap but it will be back in stock shortly. It was only a couple of strengths having issue 80's & 40's so you may not have even noticed the issue. Thanx Sandoz, very relieved we are not going to be back to where we were this time last year. Hope everyones doing ok, & keeping warm in this horrible weather. Cheers
Michelle, I nearly had a heart attack when I just read your post. I did a search and it IS still available on the PBS, this is what I copied:
Oxycodone hydrochloride 80 mg tablet: modified release, 28 tablets (PI, CMI).
Available brands:
OxyContin
Oxycodone (Sandoz)
So - where did you get your information from Michelle? I will talk to my pharmacist tomorrow. Also I was under the impression that other manufacturers were going to do the same as Sandoz in a generic. This just cannot be. I really hope your wrong this time. Please write back asap. I will do some digging and pray, we never have to go back to the awful crap we were on before. Keep your chin up.
Sorry Jay hope you read my next post after i dpoke with rep from Sandoz & was assured they WILL NOT BE DISCONTINUING Oxycodone... It was a supply/demand problem that the Pharmacy Wholesaler misinformed my & other pharmacies of discontinued product!!! My feeling on the matter is maybe the wholesaler is stuck with a whole heap of plastic OP they cant get rid of now people are finding the generic is available. I hope this is straightened out now & everyone feels great about Sandoz's conversation with myself today. Cheers
Thank god sandoz came to our rescue when the effects of mandilapharm meds kicked in 11mts agey I pretty much lost my life but it has been a fight. The chemest in my town has done his best to get the other chemests in the local area not to stock it must be good kick backs but in the end my dr is in charge and he went to bat for me and now when I eat there are no stomach cramps and the neck spasms have stopped. Life could not be better and sandoz only got the go ahead to sell them here in oz in the middle of 2014 so there is no chance of them stopping. Those words were strait from sandoz customer service.
Thanks Michelle,
Yes the Dr. is trying to scare my son. I went to the Veterans hospital and spoke with his pain doctor. He told me and my son: there is no proof that opiates will help reduce pain if used for more than a few weeks - long term use has NO value. The same doctor told me that he knows of patients that overdosed from a single low dose (10mg) of Oxycodone and died. Fear is what doctors are using in the USA to avoid giving pain meds to people in pain.
Recently our government put together a committee of elected officials - Senators, Congressman and others but no doctors it seems their goal is to get rid of all opiate pain drugs.
People here in the USA are scared to death that one day we will go to see our doctor only to be told - sorry the government won't allow me, your Dr. to help you with your chronic debilitating pain.
The National Pain Report is a great new site here in the states and it keeps us very well informed. Check it out.
Thanks,
John S.
Hi Michelle, yes I rang them as well and they will read this post as they just rang me to ask where I got this info from! How great is that! You were right about the supply issues which have now been resolved, thank goodness. Also, I rang PBS and they told me no problems with it, I also rang my pharmacist and ordered my next lot in early, before I knew all this.
Be still, my beating heart :-) So relieved I cannot tell you Michelle, great news. They are not doing in Australia what was done to the poor souls in the USA, who did have it taken off them. Let us all support SANDOZ for their help.
Cheers all.
Yep, totally agree Jay..... Thanx Aussie government & thanx Sandoz for being so helpful, understanding & providing us with a medication that was working before Mundipharma decided to be greedy & shifty!!! Yay Sandoz!
I've had 2 days of Mundipharma oxycontin & im feeling sick as.... This stuff is so bad, hopefully my pharmacy has others in stock so i can change the other box i have... Cant believe the wholesaler, shouldnt be saying something is discontinued when its not at all true.... I rang my pharmacist & told her after i spoke to Sandoz rep... She was really unimpressed with the wholesaler as she saw how sick i was with new formula. Again i apologize for freaking everyone out. I was also told about it being discontinued by another source so I really was worried.... I wanted to get everyone onto it asap if it was true.
Dear John S
The doctor is correct, even 10mg of oxycodone can kill u but thats only if u are allergic to it! But it doesn't sound like your son has a allergy to opioids as he has had them before. I know for a fact, that doctors are still prescribing opioids in the US. U need to find another doctor, preferably one who actually cares for people who are hurt and need extra compassion. I wish u luck and your wonderful son lots of love.
If u were on the east coast I could give u a doctors name, one that can help.
Yes I agree - thanks to the Australian government and Sandoz for caring. I have been on the plastic OP's for 3 months, and my health has deteriorated further.
I was diagnosed with HB and my ankles swelled up. In addition I felt extremely anxious and cold. My heart rate was also up. My general health was deteriorating as my pain worsened. I felt I was going to have a heart attack or a stroke.
I knew deep inside that the OP were responsible, so I researched and tried to find a generic oxycodone, I finally found one 'SANDOZ OXYCODONE'. I have been on them for one day and the difference is phenomenal, I don't feel cold chills and experience sweats anymore, my heart rate is lowered, and my pain feels stable and I am able to cope with life better.
The duration of the pain relief is definitely longer than OP. In my opinion OP's are a dangerous drug causing dangerous medical complications and side effects that can lead to health deterioration.
I truly recommend 'SANDOZ OXYCODONE' to the genuine person who struggles with pain - it's a God sent compared to the OP's.
The reason you felt so ill, is that you were going into withdrawal - the reformulation does not dissolve properly in the stomach so you do not get your dosage, many have found the table it their faeces, undisolved.
Thank God for Sandoz and the Australian health department.
So glad you are feeling better, the difference is truly amazing isn't it, by day five you should be back to normal.
Cheers!
Hey Jay, yep I was able to get the Sandoz on Thurs... However I had opened one lot into my dispensor so couldnt take those back to be replaced, so have been using one dose of those & one of the Sandoz each day... Last dose was today & i hope to feel much better in a few days, it was a great reminder how badly my body reacts to the OP formula... Not good at all. I have yo go into hospital for surgery soon & after this I am worried whether they will have the Sandoz in there..... I dont want to take them again, do you or anyone else know which brand the hospitals stock?
Purdue finally lost their patent and generic Oxycontin has started distribution. I'm curious about the cost difference and effectiveness. Purdue is not allowed to produce the generics but I'm curious who is.
Sorry Trink I presume your in the US, & there's no generic of original formula available there. Those of us getting the generic made by Sandoz are in Australia, & is the original formula not the silicone crap sold by Purdue (USA) Mundipharma (Aus). Its disgusting that people suffering with terrible pain, have been totally neglected in the name of greed. Purdue were handed the perfect cover with all the media coverage on Oxycontin being abused... They had the whole market for 10yrs with a great product to treat pain, the last thing they wanted was to share it! When the patent ran out in US they launched their 'tamper proof OP formula' & made sure they prevented any other company manufacturing the original by having it banned.... This was approx 4yrs ago. If it was really all about saving lives & stopping junkies from messing with it, why did it take 3 yrs for them to change the formula in Australia? It actually was perfect timing as their patent ran out here the exact same time as they changed the formula in Aus.....Again giving them a new patent & whole market!!! Thankfully the Australian government didn't bow down to Mundipharma/Purdue to prevent generics of original formula...so after a few months Sandoz brought out their generic, not a minute to soon for those of us having terrible side effects & increased pain levels from OP formula. The research i have done in that time has shown me, patients on higher doses are having the most side effects from OP & the worst of it is pain increase-not getting full dose of medication as it doesn't always metabolize. Ive read posts from people informing that undigested tablet in stools are just the shell, but it doesn't have a shell. The medication is distributed throughout the whole tablet & releases only as the tablet is digested. I hope you & others in the States have found an alternative that works for you.
Cheers
Michelle, I have just been in hospital for a big operation and it is imperative that you take your own Sandoz generic Oxycontin, they will NOT have it, they will only have the Mundipharma reformulation. I took mine and also on your forms you fill out for the hospital, make sure you write "I am allergic to the Mundipharma reformulation Oxycontin, I can only take the Sandoz generic and I have brought in my own supply". Make sure you label it with your name on it and only take the amount to tablets you will need for your stay, don't take any extra. I always keep a couple in my purse as well, just in case. Your not supposed to, but it makes me feel more secure. Also, tell anyone who asks that you only take the generic. I also like to spread the word to others so the info gets out! Hope this helps you get organised and good luck with the op, let us know how you get on.
Cheers!
Thanx Jay, great info... The hospital I'm going to, the Alfred is really good... I was transferred there after i got MSSA that turned into blood poisoning & septicaemia causing an abscess near my spinal cord & nearly killed me.... Thankfully this operation I'm having was moved from local hospital into the Alfred due to all my complications etc. its the one hospital I can say with certainty takes good care with patients.... & the only one where i haven't had ongoing complications, they really care about you as a person not a number. I had 2 teams caring for me Infectious Diseases & Neuro Spinal Specialists, they were amazing from the minute i arrived, id been in the other hospital for a week with them doing bugger all to save me... My kidneys had shut down, i barely had a blood pressure reading, the infection was rampant & around the abscess infection was eating away the muscle near it...this was 2mm from my spinal chord. As soon as i arrived at the Alfred they had a team of doctors ready, bags of blood etc & the right antibiotics to start me on, & operated 8 hours later to remove dead tissue & abscess... I don't remember much of it, but was told later. I spent 3 weeks in hospital there & another 2 months of hospital in the home on IV antibiotics, i don't know what the hell was going on at Frankston but they could well have killed me if i wasn't transferred then. Im really glad they decided its to hard an op for them & I'm so happy with my surgeon at the Alfred I just saw... Didn't even think about tablets for stay there until this weeks bugger up. Pleased in a way as thats the last thing id need... on top of them struggling with pain control as it is for me when having surgery. I hope your ok now Jay, what did you have done?
Hi Michelle, I had zygomatic implants inserted into my cheekbones, through the sinus and up to the edge of the orbital bones, this was my final option to have teeth! The implants I had over a year ago, all failed and I had no bone left so I have to have the zygomatic ones, they are 40mm long and I have four, plus three 'normal' dental implants, 48 hours later, they put my full top bridge in and attached it to all the implants, this was the worse part as I was so raw and sore but now I have these lovely top teeth. I do still have some loss of feeling in my right cheek, like when you have lignocaine at the dentist, but the area is getting smaller over time, it's 21 days since I had it done, was i hospital over night, didn;'t look too bad after but day 2 and 3 did not look like me, all puffy and swollen with black eyes but soon cleared up. I have been left with a 'burning palate' which is driving me mad, caused by nerve damage at the front, each day I hope it will get better but so far it is the same. Otherwise healing well. I get the permanent teeth in six months then I am doing all the bottom teeth, I cannot tell you how much this has cost, a house deposit would be accurate, and more...but, we need teeth. This was all caused by xerstomia (lack of saliva) due to the oxy for almost two decades. So, anyone reading this, take care of your teeth! No saliva caused decay, keep you mouth wet no matter how, don't let it dry out.
Sorry to hear about what happened to you Michelle, I too have had septacemia and almost died so I know what you went through...but, we are STILL HERE :-)
Cheers!
