I am on a suboxone treatment program and currently interviewing for several new jobs. I will have to take a pre-employment drug test and I am wondering if I will fail for an opiate due to the suboxone. I do not want to tell my future employer that I am in treatment for a past drug dependency and I am worried that the suboxone will make that impossible.

In a major violation of my rights, I was court ordered to take both "full panel" urine AND hair tests under absolutely zero suspicion of any sort of drug use whatsoever. I've been freaked out and terrified for weeks over the idea. Take subs daily, including day of the testing. They did the immediate stick test on the urine and sent it to the lab... both came back totally clean. I don't know the result of the hair test yet, but my assumption (guess) is that the hair test will test for the exact same things the urine test did, and that its purpose isn't to include wider drug testing but to look back farther in history, yes? If anyone knows the answer you'll help me sleep at night. So if that theory is correct I should be fine... if not then I'll have a negative piss test and a positive hair test... and fire my attorney for not finding a way to get me out of being tested like a criminal in the first place...

As for pot if u hardly ever smoke it n u smoke for a day or two, wait 5 or 6days and ull be fine. bout two years ago i smoked some two days in a row n had a pre employment drug test like 5 or 6 days later and i passed. just be sure to drink alittle more water then u usually do.

Going thru the same thing here, I'm hoping things went ok for you and you could post what happened.
I have been told by both my doctor and the drug screening place that if you have a script, and it shows up - that the test will pass. Meaning, they won't fail you as long as you have a script.
If you don't have a script, it will pick up bupe and fail you. Depending on how much you take (16mg v 2mg) it can take anywhere from 3-10+ days to get out of your system.
If you have a script, doesn't really matter what you're taking - they can't fail you and cannot tell employer what you are taking (HIPPA violation). However, there's an exception in the cases where you're applying for a position where the effects of meds can impose a danger (flying a plane, operating a crane etc), but you would be signing a form to release that info.

tractor trailer driver I take the box in and I have had several drug test and have not failed wanna it takes a little bit longer to get my results back but I'll take a lot of other medications for blood pressure and diabetes. So I kind of agree with everybody's that says it does not show up on your drug test

Hey Happy Camper, not trying to be nosy, but I too am on probation, and I took some suboxone and I'm wondering what area you're located? I'm in TN and I'm fearful that they will test for that here, due to the problem in the area with opiates.

Cause I went in for ah pre employment - and I was taking my strips and was kinda worried about it showing up on the test , I took the test before I told her ' and I passed the test . But I wasn't really on for a preScription , so I had got somethng from my doctors saying I was on the strips ... And I GOT THE JOB

ok im on 2 1/2 8 mg strips and like a dumb ass i had marijuana with 1 other person... my question is if i get the sure jell--c my dr sends off to a lab ...do u think the suboxone will show up or mess up my sub levels??

Yes it will show up bc they are using a dip stick to test for suboxone this is new and happened to my bf in Dec 2015. It's new and pain management doctors are starting to use it.

Suboxone will only come up as an oxy if,it hasn't been metabolized. Meaning of you try to put it in your pee and not take it orally. Lol.

Suboxone does NOT show up as a opiate, they have to run a separate test just for BUP. To know if it's in your system. .
