Where To Purchase Paregoric (Page 11)

I've used Paregoric for 15 years and can't find it. Is there anywhere in the U.S. or other countries where this can be purchased?
Betty; I do believe that the FDA has authorized three specific pharmaceutical companies to produce Paregoric. Doctors get afraid to write scripts for it, because the DEA is looking over their shoulders right along with the local Pharmacies that may tell you that they cannot get it in.
Several years ago, there was a lot of ordering of many types of medications through the email. The the government DID get very involved. Try as I might, I could not even get my computer to go to some of the sights. Plus, I had had an order coming from Spain. They caught it coming through customs, and sent it back. They then called me and asked if I was expecting anymore.
If the DEA gets ahold of your shipment of anything narcotic based you will lose it, and the money you already paid. Plus, you could be in trouble with the DEA (that I am not sure of).
I am concerned that I see people like "Mare" online, asking little questions, and offering to get things online for people... I hope I am wrong, but I worry that people like her (and there have been others in the past), are just trying to get a business of their own going. ??Why would Mare be better equipped to go online to order these thing?? And it would not be out of the goodness of her heart. At least that is what I am seeing here. People need to be careful. Really.
How did you order from Brazil? I don't know how to go about it. Thank you.
It is now the day following my (above) post of yesterday...
I'm the "author" of it, and not sure I understand what I was trying to say???
I got carried away, I guess...I do know that FDA has NOT actually approved Paragoric sales in USA...and, (gulp) that could get me in "trouble" ordering from Brazil, etc, having cases shipped to my address, and then shipping bottles to those unable to obtain RX from Drs in their areas...I apologize to the FDA (...I"m really not a "bad guy" :>), but...I do feel strongly about this prescription and how it works for those of us with IBS, etc...but then, it is once again available to MOST of us in USA...and the FDA, I'm sure, has more important illegal/dangerous "drugs" to go after...Oh, I'm babbling again...just wanted to say, my heart was sincere in offering to order bottles for those of us unable to obtain it here...woke up with my cup of coffee and realized "geez, I could get a knock on my door today"....but, in defense of that, I truly believe it should be available, with FDA approval and Drs RX...and, bottom line, why are we able to obtain much stronger prescriptions with their approval?
Am I replying on right spot? There's an area at bottom where we can reply, or one right after the previous posters post...are both rec by all of us?
Thanks for reading, and understanding.

Hi...this is Betty (registered name Elizabeth)...I am confused!...OK...I've posted numerous times (as have many of us) and...the latest on Paregoric is that it is once again available through prescription, yes?
But, I'm reading posts on people still having to go to Brazil, etc, to purchase it...
Does this mean, those that are requesting name of pharmacies in places such as Brazil (etc) are totally unable to obtain rx from Drs in US?
We all know it's available with RX (once again) in U.S...
so, if "problem" is living in area where Drs will NOT prescribe it (and we all agree this is JUST STUPID), is the points being, either someone give us name/phone no of "out of USA" where we can obtain it over phone, or...one of us obtain names of us unable to get LEGAL prescription in USA, and if we could...somehow...guarantee payment (honest cost, say what it would cost in USA with RX...plus cost for one of us to order it (Brazil), shipping costs, and a SMALL fee for doing it....is this what we're saying?
I honestly, truly, swear to God, swear by paregoric...for those of you who have read my posts, I've gotten it for YEARS, otc, and then through Drs (California) due to IBS PLUS numberous other reason..."overactive bowel"...(nerves...) enough to keep me housebound without it...(I've shared many a story...very personal ones...embarrassing....but TRUTHFUL...on "sudden diarrhea episodes"...I was on it, and then, it went off the market, (blah blah)...now it's back, so, with insurance (thank God) and my Drs, I am able to order it from pharmacies...
So...guess what I'm saying (again) is....if we could share telephone no of out of country pharmacies that would ship it to us, or one person ordering it for those of us who need it, I swear to God, I have no "guilty conscious" in being one to help those who are unable to get it (too expensive here, no Dr., etc...) I TRULY THINK THIS IS A WONDER DRUG...and with all the talk about stronger pain medications, paregoric even helps with...well, mediium pain...in closing (for this time) my problem is nervous bowel, (just a nervous person, really) and IBS...stomach surgeries, etc...I will do anything I can do to help those in need...I don't know how you could reach me, perhaps by calling this Site? My email address is {edited for privacy}
I am NOT a drug pusher...just a person who has been able to "live a life" with, what I consider to be, a wonder drug, and SHOULD STILL BE OVER THE COUNTER (for adults, though)...am I making sense? Regards
Betty/Elizabet
It was OTC in 1966, because as a 12 yr old I bought for my teething infant sister..at a drug store.

So true...when I was new to workforce 30+years ago as a health care clinician I was so shocked to find out the FDA was "on the take".. you can only imagine what it is like now.
What pharmacies in Jamaica, Belize or Jamaica sell it OTC? I could email or call them if I knew which ones. Thanks for any info you may have.
i have gone to spain for stuff many times ut seems like trip toabove listed places also brazil is necessary...
My daughter has severe IBS.
Karen, glad to hear that. IBS is a pain in the butt, no pun intended. I need it because I have a problem MSG, which I try to avoid as much as possible. (=
Im seeing my Dr next Tuesday 1-22-13 thank you so much.
Janis, for what does your daughter need it for? Will y
her doctor not perscribe it?
LauraD
where do you live?
I need it for IBS, it's the only thing I trust!
Is there a particular name of a pharmacy in Jamaica, Belize or Barbados that sells it and I could order it online? Thanks for any information you can give me.
Very interested in your ability to get paregoric. Desperately need for my daughter.
What pharmacy in Trinidad carries paregoric? I cannot find it anywhere in the US.
mare
Katheryn, thanks for the reply. What I found out is in the small town I live most of the MDs are limited to what they can perscribe, due to the drug infested town I live in. My original DO would give me 2 6oz scripts a year. SO I used it wisely. I guess I'll have to get back to my Cleveland DO for a script. I've been on this blog for more than a year and what a journey its been!
Many doctors won't give a script for it because they believe in NOT giving something so addictive. And yes, it is addictive. But, if it is taken properly no one will be any more addicted to Paregoric than to any other narcotic medication. And that is the real difficulty for us. There is not much out there that works for diarrhea besides narcotic medication.
One other thing though, is that I am quite sure that Paregoric has not ever been OTC. Even in the days before Paregoric (pre-1910s?), Laudanum was by a doctors prescription. Opium Tincture was available, which is why the FDA never was able to mess with it currently. I've said it before, but I will say it again, . . . using this website, look up the history of Paregoric and also Tincture of Opium. It is really quite fascinating.
