I would suggest going to a Pain Management Clinic. There most likely is one nearby, as they are popping up everywhere due to the need to control narcotic medication levels. Many family doctors will not prescribe narcotic pain medicine to use long-term. Most doctors will refer you to a Pain Clinic to manage your pain. You should be able to talk to someone in his office, assuming it is still open, and they can refer you to a Pain Clinic. If not, get out the phone book, call one, and sed if you can make an appointment without a referral. Make sure you take a list of all your medicines, including your medicine bottle for any narcotics, and it's helpful to get a printout for the past year from your pharmacy. Good luck. I hope this helps.
I agree with the pain management. It's your only way out. Withdrawel is F kin scary. Don't let that happen. Get off all addictive meds.
Same thing happened to me with same meds after 2 yrs I made a appointment with the chief executive officer of hosp and brought a lawer and family members for support and a few doctors but my blood pressure was going nuts from pain . They finely took me serious after we told them we were going to write the paper's and protest against the er and hosp. But its still a uphill battle cause of all the pill poppers and doctors that sell scripts. Call or look for a advocacy group but also ur doctor shoulda set u up with other docs for help
My pain dr. was taken away for a "review" by FDA or DEA not sure but been with him over 10 yrs & he is totally respected so guess they just trying to find something wrong?? Here in FL no drs treat with meds for fear so I am now w/out meds & no dr. PLEASE help me anywhere in central FL. I have bonedisease, broken arms, kneecaps sideways, DDD spine & scoliosis in wheelchair & agony w/out meds.
Thanks for any help!
Chris
Don't know if you've ever heard of Suboxone. It was originally used to treat opioid addiction but was found to also control pain as well. Some pain management clinics are now treating long term pain with it.
In the initial stage of use there is a "high" of sorts but once the medicine builds in the system the "high" goes away and pain management as well as physical withdrawal symptoms cease. Thus the original treatment for opioid addiction.

Have you tried any Pain Clinics in Tampa?? I used to go to Tampa Pain Clinic. It was owned & run by an excellant Doctor, Dr David Van de Carr, who did use narcotic meds under a strict contract. I think he retired, but he replaced himself w/a new Doc, and may still own the Clinic. It was worth the 1.5 hr. drive from Central FL to see him and get the much needed pain relief needed. Now Im moving to Tenn.& need a new Doc. near Dayton. Don't look forward to the Search.
Chris I know of 3 pm in Tampa. You will have to do the legwork call see what they require. Genesis medical clinic in Tampa has a website it tells u all of the requirements. I know they do prescribe opiates, although very strict following the law. Also there is Dr. Chadhari at University Pain Management. Then idk the name of this place its at 4941 Busch Blvd. I'm sure they u/a and need current diagnostics, MRI, ctscans. Good luck.
Kacee I've heard about Vandercar and how caring he was. Some young kid I believe got addicted and tried to rob a pharmacy....sux cuz they blamed it on Vandecar. If you look on healthgrades and look it up it has all the court papers and every drug he prescribed this young kid, he is no longer practicing
I don't know what state your in but in Michigan only addiction doctors can prescribe suboxone. Once you start seeing a doctor like that hear a pain management doctor won't treat you it doesn't matter if you have years of records you will be labeled a addict. I have thought about it because my pain doctor is more worried about the DEA and government and I haven't been able to find a new doctor, he has lowered my Xanax to the point I can no longer sleep I have been on Xanax for 15 years it's the only medication I have been on that allows me to sleep like a normal person. God bless all of us that have to live in a body full of pain.
Wow! I hadn't heard about that! I thought he simply Retired. Did he HAVE to stop practicing because of this?? Or did he just Retire?
Hi Kacee, I live in Chattanooga Tennessee, about 20 miles from Dayton. {edited for privacy}. I'm a Bail agent but have to take pain meds. There are several pain mgmt. Drs. Around Chattanooga, but it's like 6:30am right now, and if you like, I can look up some PM M.D.s around Nooga, and any up in Dayton too. I understand what your going through...give me awhile today, and I'll get them to ya...ok?
Did you EVER find you a DR. in Dayton Tenn? I just saw the date for your message...
I have the exact same problem but my doctor is no longer in town. She just skipped out with no referrals or anything. I I was taking 10 - 325 5 of hydrocodone. I do not feel I'm addicted because I did not have any withdrawals at all. They don't make me high or anything I took it for chronic pain. I have diabetic neuropathy and I have fibromyalgia. It feels like someone is pouring acid all over my body all the time. I Cry and scream I freeze all the time. I never get any sleep because I hurt so bad. No doctor will take me because I signed a pain contract with my other doctor. I can't even get in for my diabetes. All doctors have stopped prescribing medications pain what do you suggest
Obviously you have never had to take the suboxone yourself. It is not a good medication at all. I have had so many horrible side effects from this crap. I feel like I cant think straight, which I had no problem doing on regular pain meds. There are a lot of other problems it can trigger as well. It is also worthless for pain for me. I don't know where you are getting your info from that it can make u feel euphoric because it has never come close for me. Be Warned it can go bad.

Re: Emma (# 15)
I agree with everything you said. I was on methadone and percocet for 12 years. I heard we has a suboxone clinic in the area. I called to ask a few questions. They told me how wonderful the clinic is.I made an appointment for the next morning. I have been on subutex now about 3 months. I regret this decision. I am having odd side effects from them. My quality of life has bottomed out. There are no pain relieving qualities with subutex. My problem is since doing this I am unable to get an rx for methadone and percocet now. I am looked at as an addict. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? I live in was gonna state, 100 miles from spokane.
Good luck with pain clinics. I've taken anxiety meds and oxycodone for 20 years. I now am forced to go to a clinic. I'm now treated like a lying drug addict. Without even having my medical records they took all anxiety meds away and cut my oxycodone in half. Also claim to have written the script for 45 days without mentioning it to me. So I'm now out with 2 weeks to go. What they are doing is forcing people to now drink or consume marijuana. They are on a power trip thanks to Donald duck trump. In the end, illegal drugs will increase in use and alcoholism will rise. My choice is now I lie in bed, don't exercise now and do shots for the pain. I'm in the need right this moment for 2 shoulder replacements, along with everything else I deal with. Bottom line, these clinics don't care. They just want the easy money. Wouldn't be surprised if the government doesn't pay them for all the pills they take from needing people. Thanks to the a**holes who abused the medicine, we all pay the price.
