Watson Vs. Mylan Generic Lorazepam Side Effects. (Page 7) (Top voted first)

Been on Sandoz mfr. lorazepam for 10 years; no problems; no need to increase dose. Sandoz stopped mfr. Now, can only get these generic's & Actavis. Having lots of troubles getting results; either nothing or zonked. Anyone else w/any experience which mfr. is closer to Sandoz (since FDA approves up to 2% differences in generics). Thank you.

Sorry that I have to make this post kind of quick because I'm late for my own doctor appointment since I had stage 4 cancer. Butt I'd like you to know that I also was 415 years a pharmacist MD so I can help you understand at least that's a little bit more?

As far as the Sandoz brand goes here in the USA a lot are there medications for some reason are not top quality at all just as you stated and many others do. I could go on and on about varieties of reasons for various things and I do mention it in a lot of my post so if you have any questions about really anything I usually have the time so just replied to any of my post and I believe it will alert me through my own email and I'll get right back to you as soon as possible that's for sure I promise!!

The reason why I said it's kind of one of the only things that has to do with being a pharmacist and especially a pharmacist MD that means I can write prescriptions except for schedule 2 medications. So as far as that brand goes the US division for some reason doesn't make quality products. In fact you can always get a different brand no matter what even if your insurance or the pharmacy you go to doesn't cover it there's lots of things you can do and just ask me and I'll give you all kinds of options. The main reason which I have no understanding of like I said about the USA manufacturing of various Sandoz medications is kind of weird because I've received a lot of medications from the international manufacturing of the Sandoz brand and they have just like other companies manufacturing plants all over the world. Only recently since the messed up Obamacare law which a lot of people like me even thought was a good one at first but it isn't by the way unless you like a number of bad things? One of them being the FDA which is so crooked that they for one in this situation obtain all kinds of medication from not up to even close standards and certain manufacturing plant just so the government can get away cheaper deals on their medication. So I would recommend if you have any other specific questions to get in touch with me and just replied to any of my post because I can't leave my email and I pretty much go on lying here every day because I'm laid up myself and actually I'm taking Sandoz medication right now. Sometimes it's out of my hands and occasionally a few of their medications ROK. I can also direct you go to loopholes in the system and things that pharmacists especially the ones that are part of the Big Chain pharmacies or never honestly tell you no matter what because they are bound by confidentiality agreements through the employers and it's really unethical and sickening. That's why I always recommend no matter what and even if you have to pay a little extra and believe me I'm on disability living off next to nothing so I am indigent myself. I would say definitely go to one of the mom and pop pharmacies that aren't chain Pharmacy? That way they aren't bound purchase any kind of the crap that the chain pharmacies are usually it's owned by one person every two that are pharmacist and open their own Pharmacy so they are honest for the most part and I would just said to just go online for something like that and check out the Mom and Pop Shop reviews closest to you or even if you have to drive a little further or take the bus if it's worth it which usually your health is no matter how healthy are sick you are. Hope you have a great day and remember if you have a question about anything at all just get in touch with me by the way they say responding to any of my posts since I can't leave my email address unfortunately here. Take it easy

These drugs can make you worse. I took it for six months for hyper thyroid and I'm now living a nightmare. Visit W-BAD YouTube to learn more. Also Google the Ashton Manual to taper off. Never Cold Turkey.

Watson lorazepam is way better than Mylan..and Walgreen's is the only place that uses it in 1 Mg at present time in southern NJ.

Since they took Exceillium off the market because they were bought by another Big Pharma company, I have to agree. Mylan has been keeping me level. No side effects. I sleep well at night and am alert in the day. However, I am up to 3 mg a day on Mylan as opposed to 1 mg on my other brands.

leading pharma brand made me feel like I was going through withdrawal. It would last for about three hours then the withdraw would start happening. It was terrible. They switched me back to Qualitest which I'd been taking for about 2 years, before that it was Mylan which I liked just fine. This is all from CVS.

I've never been on Ativan for long. Always xanax or Klonopin, but got an ativan script 1mg 2x day. Now first pick up at Walmart was Watson 242/1, they seem to do the job. Second was Mylan 457 n no lie I felt nothing I seriously ate about 12 of them before even getting an hr rest or any anxiety relief, I transfer script to rite aid Watson again 241/1 on pill n on bottle under it says actavis they seem to work, it's like touch or go. Idk if these manufacturers are messing with this or Ativan is just not for me

Mylan brand is the only lorazepam I can take that works without any side effects. I have taken many brands over the past 10 years for anxiety. The only way I am able to get Mylan brand is that I found only one CVS that would special order it for me.

I've been taking Lorzapam for 21 years- no side affects (as long as I get the incorrect manufacturer) with the drug however if the manufacturer is changed then I can't sleep and get irritated (maybe from lack of sleep) . Watson has worked very well for me but walmart keeps changing the manufactured product to mylan which doesn't work at all (sometimes I think its placebo) . I've spoke to walmart about carrying watson and they claim there is no difference. I'm sick of the pharmacists thinking they know it all about medicines. A 0.01 difference is sometimes all it takes so unless you're a compounding pharmacist you should shut your pie hole. So..I'm looking for info that I can bring to prove my claim- anyone out there have any?

Update- Last month I switched to a local compounding pharmacy to manufacture a liquid form of lorazapam in order to taper off over an 8 month period. I can honestly say that this is the best quality I've ever used. When I wake up I do not feel groggy and it works better than the pill for anxiety even while tapering.

Does that brand say LED somewhere on the script. If so, then I have that.
I looked at previous pills and they were Mylan.

Re: Henry (# 335) Expand Referenced Message

I've been on Ativan since the 90's. I tried many different medications from MAO's, Tofranil (tricyclic antidepressants), to SSRI's and SNRI's. I've been on almost every benzodiazepines starting with Tranxene, Xanax and the list goes on until Ativan came in the picture. I'm not sure what generics I took with Ativan (lorazepam) because I never pay attention to those things back then. But I do know the one I was given semi worked but tasted like chalk. So my pdoc wrote like you dispense brand name only and life as I knew it got better. The brand was made by Wyeth- Ayerst Laboratories. Wyeth was the original maker of brand name Ativan since the late 70's. I took it from the 90's to 2004. That's when I started having troubles with it working. They kept the original dog house shape pill and left Wyeth on the pill as well for about a year. Then they put BPI on it. I never thought to look at the pill until one day I grabbed my magnifying glass and saw it said BPI on it. I wasn't happy at all. At the time I was on 4 mgs a day for many years. Never had any drug tolerances of any kind. There was never a need to increase my dose ever. My story is almost as the same as the writer Doc76 spoke about. With that said my provider at the time only carried Mylan. We had to try a little more to get the same therapeutic results. I wasn't happy with that either. But it is what it was I suppose. As far as Biovail being the original maker that would not be true. Biovail was a generic maker of most of their drugs. And they most certainly change the formula. I called them and they explained what they did with it. You can Google and still find that Biovail did change the brand name Ativan to a generic. Even to this day after Valeant bought out BPI (2009) they make the BPI (Biovail) generic and the so called Brand name that is priced off the hook as you stated. I know this because my local Wal-Mart has both and you can see it on Valeant's website. I still don't believe Valeant is making the original formula. But I can't prove it and Its not a priority in my life. I've read their dealings with our govt. I really have no comment on what they've done. I just wished that Wyeth would have never sold it. But their patent came up to renew and they choose to sell it. Lots of folks suffered because of that. But here's the ticker. Many were fooled for years and still are that they thought they were getting brand name Ativan when in fact they were not. They paid the cost as well for it. Like I said just look at Valeant's website and you'll see I'm not misquoting anything here. BPI did work for me but you needed to increase it and my provider would know longer keep the board approved consult i had for brand name only. Why because there were other generics they could get for a lessor price. And for me Mylan adjusted for me better. As I've quoted Mylan has their 1 mg tablets on backorder. My provider can get the 2 mgs. We just switched to them. But with that said and short of sounding like a broken record Mylan is not discontinuing any of their lorazepam. If you have read what I've posted about talking to them I don't think they'd lie about it. I mean why would they? But with all this said Valeant's BPI generic if it is still the same formula Biovail made it's an alternative to anyone out there looking for one that works. Have a good one people.

Re: Deedee (# 340) Expand Referenced Message

I'm not worried about it being discontinued. Because it's not going to be discontinued. I have faith that what Mylan has said to me as to be true. What I think is someone on this thread is just trying to put some of us in a tailspin for their jollies. All you have to do is look at the time stamped from each post and one can see that Joyce, Savannah and I think you know who the third person is are one and the same. Glad the three of you got your brand name approved. ;)

Re: Savannah (# 348) Expand Referenced Message

I'm going to leave this at this. There's no reason why they would tell you one thing and others another. My script was filled with 2mgs of Mylan the start of last week. It's still in stock and available. If you looked on their website you can see the drop down tab that shows what they have, make and the warehouses pharmacies can order it from. I would think that they'd update their site if they were not going to be making it any longer. I have one other route I'm checking and will have a answer next week whether it's going to be discontinued. I went a little higher up the food chain this time. I'm glad your insurance company will pay for it and you only have a 30 dollar copay. Not sure you ever took the original Wyeth brand name or not, but I'm still not sold its the original that Valeant is marketing. I do have a question, how long have you been on 6 mgs and if you don't mind what type of doctor is writing that amount for you. Reason I ask is most pdoc's or gp doc's don't normally write that high of a daily dose. Also is that a 90 day supply, monthly or weekly? Just curious because my experience these days being on that high of a dose not many docs or pharmacies will fill that kind of script.

Re: Twig7 (# 354) Expand Referenced Message

Ugh! Twig that wasn't the news I was hoping to hear! I had a bad feeling though, it seemed strange Mylan would have such difficulties with lorazepam supply. Now I don't know what im going to do. I had an approval for the "brand" from 2006 when it was Biovail and maybe $200 more a month than generic. That insurance is long gone from an old employer in a different state. There is no way my current insurance is going to pay $5000/month for the Valeant, and as you said I don't blame them.

I guess i'll have to try another lorazepam generic although I don't have much faith in that from my past experiences and those posted here. If that doesn't work I suppose it's back to my doctor to find another medication, probably a different generic benzodiazepine like Xanax XR, What a mess :(

Re: Twig7 (# 354) Expand Referenced Message

I just pulled up the conversations to catch up since I last posted. I did get mylan 0.5 filled yesterday for my 30 days, and the pharmacy showed in the computer their warehouse still showed them in stock. Unfortunately, last Friday when the Mylan rep called me after my email Thursday, she didn’t say whether all lorazepam would be DC’d or if it was just the 1 mg dose. I did ask my pharmacist yest if they could check it every 2 weeks like Mylan suggested and see if they could order and he wasn’t sure that was possible. Mylan said they had enough for one more batch, but wasn’t sure when the release date would be. We all have to be our own advocates I guess, at this point. I have a friend with MS who’s on oxycodone 15 mg and her pharmacy is now giving her a brand that doesn’t work at all, so am telling her what I’ve been going through with all of your help and hope she learns from this. Since I made a direct call in response to Mylan’s return call, I know for sure it was that company who was on the phone with me. As for even trying to believe the few of us that seem to be responding back and forth I hope I’m not too naive to believe anyone would play games like that and for what point?? When you mentioned looking at post dates and times, I did go back and look, and all I noticed was that some people spend more time reading and answering right away. I would really hope we all are real people who are just trying to help out another friend with the same health issues. Also, doesn’t the site have our emails private, and why in the world would they let the same email go online using different nicknames. This is supposed to be a reputable website. If you know something to the contrary, I would sure like to know and I’ll cut my conversations immediately. I did have a thought a while back that maybe one of the people we were taking to was from FDA, MAPS, whatever, but then thought that’s not a big deal because I have absolutely nothing to hide, have a legitimate problem that necessitates my medication, etc. Have a good day.

To answer your question: Yes, your email address is kept private and is not displayed or shared. And because we do not force users to enter their full name or real name (for privacy), there may be cases where a single individual changes their name from time to time. The only time this is really frowned upon is if someone is attempting to manipulate a discussion (by posing as multiple individuals in a deceptive way and/or having fake conversations with themselves). In such a case, our moderators would promptly take such a message down and ban them. We hope this helps and please let us know if you have any other questions about this.
