Watson Vs. Mylan Generic Lorazepam Side Effects. (Page 6) (Top voted first)
UpdatedBeen on Sandoz mfr. lorazepam for 10 years; no problems; no need to increase dose. Sandoz stopped mfr. Now, can only get these generic's & Actavis. Having lots of troubles getting results; either nothing or zonked. Anyone else w/any experience which mfr. is closer to Sandoz (since FDA approves up to 2% differences in generics). Thank you.
Mary,
My experience has been totally different. Although Watson USED to be in business, go and see their website and you'll see they are no longer active, but are now under Actavis.
Some pharms may have backup Watson Lorazepam, but what I got was the Activ. brand, yes with the 241 stamped on the pill. It is NOT THE SAME AT ALL, does zero. Please read all the other folks who are also having this problem of a Lorazepam devoid of efficacy.
I agree with you and all the others who are frustrated and angry about Activis taking over the generic market for lorazepam. - that is, cutting out competitors by offering pharmacy chains like CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens the cheapest price for this drug. This is now the ONLY generic brand of lorazepam that these THREE BIG CHAINS will supply and offer. They are screwing the consumer desperate for another brand generic because the Activis brand doesn't work or worse, causes restlessness and a toxic neurological reaction. If you can find a pharmacy that will order in generic lorazepam made by Mylan, you'll solve the problem.
I have been on 2mg of Lorzepam for 8 years. I've mainly been on the Watson brand. For 3 months, my pharmacy only had Ativan brand and I was able to get that for the same cost as the generic. I didn't really notice any difference between the two. Both worked great. Last year I was switched to Mylan for two months and my anxiety was through the roof. I couldn't figure out why. I was also extremely agitated! It was horrible! I finally realized it was the brand and I brought my unused pills back to my Dr for her to destroy and she wrote me a new scrip. I have been back on Watson with no issues. Today, I filled my scrip at Walgreens and got half Sandoz, half Actavis. After reading all the reviews, now I'm worried! My Dr already thinks im a little "quirky" for bringing her the Mylans.... This ought to be interesting.
Has anyone experienced nausea and vomiting (severe projectile-type) on Mylan lorasepam (1mg) I take as needed and have never had this happen before. The last three times I have taken it I have had this happen. It also happened to my husband when he borrowed one..I am not on any other meds and never had an problems with this drug
I was just switched to sandos brand and it was horrible. Watson brand worked for me. It was like it wasn't working at all. I reported it to walgreens and upsure-Smith they cannot do anything but document it and the FDA will be notified. So I have to switch pharmacies to find the Watson brand.
I used Randbaxy brand Lorazepam for anxiety for years, and it worked very well for me. When they switched to Qualitest brand, I had an adverse reaction. I ended up in the hospital, scared to death to try their brand, Watson? Randbaxy stopped making it, they say for the next 3 yrs. but will not say why. I don't use it very often, & besides that, I'm just afraid of using the wrong one, so I wait until I'm desperate enough, not even once a month. and pray it will work. It's also supposed to help my seizures, but very seldom helps.
I have been on Watson for 14yrs. One milligram three times a day anmd it always worked great for me. When I refilled this time I got "Lorazepam" a white pill with a V on one side and 4008 on the other. About one hour after taking this. I began uncontrolled crying with terrible anxiety. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions will be very appreciated. Thank you
I am sorry your experiencing such a bad horrible reaction to that brand of lorazepam. You can take the rest of the bottle of medicine back to where you got it from and tell them that you are having extremely bad reactions to it. Most pharmacies will take it back and allow you to choose another brand of lorazepam if available. If not available go to another store like walgreens, which carries a very good brand of lorazepam. I hear Costco has the best brand and delivers. Unfortunately generic brands are only required to be + or - 20% difference from the non generic brand formula of Ativan. and with most stores they will often change brands based on what generic company will offer the cheapest deal. I've found cvs to be the worst . Rite aide, Safeway, and walgreens carry the same brand that is good (Watson 241). What store did you buy it from so I don't go there? I hope that helps.
The V4008 is Qualitest which I have been on for years and works great for my GAD.
I just got a refill and they gave me Sandoz, only took 1/2 mg so far, jury is still out.
I took purepac for years and worked perfect... then was told watson bought out purepac... watson sucks have to take twice as much ...im looking for a different manufacturer . .activis bought out watson.. so activis is watson now and it sucks... does anyone know of a new or different manufacturer i can get ativan from that may work better cuz watson just isnt working
I am currently taking the Watson lorazepam last month they gave me a different brand that didn't work at all. I told my pharmacist at Rite Aid if they can only prescribed Watson when refilling my medication- and he said no he has no control over that and that they only get or allowed to get a certain amount a month as some new rules are changing which I think is BS. Rite Aid and CVS and Target -are the most expensive if anyone has to pay out of pocket.
I am going to switch to Walgreens as they have a larger selection of manufacturers for generic meds. I refuse to accept Rite Aid's BS and suffer with a brand that does not work.
If you do not have any presc. coverage- there are Rx savings cards on the web. Good Luck!
I've been on Ativan for years at 1 mg. 4 X per day and now all of a sudden this doctor takes me off with 1 mg. the first day and then .05 mg. each day until Dec. 30th and I've had so many problems with coming off such as severe sweating, no appetite, my legs are constantly moving along with other issues. My original doctor told me he didn't want me to come off from it at all but these jerks are terrible. These jerks wouldn't even take my call. What can I do? I've had 4 mental breakdowns.
CVS was able to get Sandoz brand generic for Ativan 2mg for my elderly mom. She said it worked the same as the name brand. Mylan sent us to the hospital. Watson made her sick to her stomach. Hope this helps.
Hi,
I found out that Watson was bought by Actavis. I found the Actavis brand totally ineffective, but Watson no longer exists. YIPES.
Do you work for Watson? It's caused so much grief for so many that I don't trust your opinion, either should anyone else. You never mentioned your personal experiences with the new Watson. I can tell you it really messed me up badly. The sad part is no one tells you the ingredients changed. Had to find out the hard way. Good try Watson for spamming this thread.
leah are you still taking excellium brand lorazepam? if so is it still working for you?
Hi Leah! thanks for getting back to me. i have been taking ativan since 1981 do to meniere's disease and at that time we got the real stuff (ativan) then when they turned over to generic they all worked fine but i noticed a difference in 2013 around october. i knew right away it was the lorazepam (watson) as that is the only med i take but didn't know that the fda gave pharmaceutical change by 20% until i started to research and found this site when this happened. i started going through withdrawal feeling shaky, migraine, disoriented, etc. doc said my body was used to it and it would not work anymore, not right cause i had some older ones left would take one and in 15 min back to being my self !!! yes it was withdrawal but from the change they made to the lorazepam. i made numerous calls to watson, sandoz and got no where other than they said nothing had changed. thats BS everyone knows there body. i b****ed so much my doc put me on klonopin which is another benzo that did not work for me to many side affects so i had to leave my happy home and new husband in the alpena mi area and come back down state to my 20 year Doctor to see what he can do enough of my life history bottom line is i have been taking the new sandoz 199 2 mg they take away the panic and anxiety but leave me with not feeling good lethargic, depressed just weird side affects just not me cant really do for my self this whole mess has ruined my life. thats why i wanted to know about the excellium brand that you take i also see that they have changed there name to leading pharma. I want to know do they give you a sense of well being; the excellium you take?? i see some say they work and some they dont. i know everyone is different but there really isn't to much out there on excellium but im going to try them my next script. just to add, people that need the right medication for there medical problems, the fda and pharmaceuticals have really put us in a debilitating life experience and most doctors think we are nuts when we try and explain to them. im so glad that you found something that works for you! and hope it continues. i have been through so much that my heart goes out to you and to all who need the right meds take care and stay in contact. hope to hear from you soon! p.s. my daughter was on lorazepam for 1 year and went through the same thing in 2013; hers were waston brand or activist.
Yes generic drug manufacturers should be inspected to make sure pills have the required active ingredient. It worries me that by lowering thier prices, they also lower the main ingredient and increase the filler. There are only supposed to be + or - 20% from the non generic drug Ativan. I read a lot of the posts on this site. And it sounds like companies are lowering the main ingredient and increasing the filler. I seriously doubt anything will change unless enough people formally complain to the right people.
No Leah, I don't work for Watson but your absolutely correct about that, ie: Watson brand was much better a year ago, and since they where bought out by Activist, people are going through withdraw in various different ways, a complete disaster to the real people with serious anxiety issues!!
Darlene
the Sandoz brand is a watered down version of the former activus lorazapam, took the activus brand for 15 years with no problem, then it wouldn't work, found out that Sandoz bought the formula, they watered it down so its totally ineffective, Watson doesn't really doesn't work that well but its better than nothing, this is what we get when we have a government which is bought off by the manufactors
