I am having the same problems. Nothing ever has ruined my sleep.... It is so scary isn't it. I wake up so disoriented!

When I first started i experienced a lot of nausea an stomach ache after taking the med. I am having bad side effects now that are more disturbing than a belly ache. Horrible nightmares/vivid dreams I wake in a cold sweat and don't ever feel rested. I also have been in a really hopeless, frantic and depressed mood. I know I am not myself. I also did very bad on Zoloft about 8 years ago. But this is worse.

I have been on 40mg of viibryd for about a month. My anxiety was gone after the jump to 40mg. But each day is getting worse and stranger. I don't feel like myself. I am edgy and disconnected. I am having horrible dreams. I will go to sleep and have dreams and I will wake up like every ten min. And be almost paralyzed like I can't get up and the dreams start back up where they left off. My mood after I finally can get up is so weird. I am disconnected and depressed. I wake up sweating and i havent moved but im really cold i have been very dizzy and I get brain zaps. I have cramps in
my legs especially my knees. I thought it was working now I can't stand how hopeless and strange I feel. I am weaning off and starting Paxil. I was on lexapro for 7 years and it just stopped working after I took a few months of the generic.

Menstrual cycles always normal.. now completely screwed up after starting Viibryd. 32 yo

Yes that is a side effect buy a night guard for your teeth I had one made at the Dentist mine was expensive a local pharmacy ie :CVS,Walgreens haveit. Viibryd isvery
good expect I have had side effects I woke up with a swollen check I don't know if it is from the teeth grinding
and I had a horrible nightmare a few days ago and that abnormal mouth taste I am beginning to thing the side effects out way the good feeling when your health is being at risk

I've never been on an antidepressant before, but I decided it's finally time. I'm on day 4 of my Viibryd starter pack. (I also take 20mg of Adderall twice a day and have been for 6 months now.) Since starting Viibryd I have noticed an increase in my jaw tension and headaches. Last night was the worst of the jaw tension so far. I kept waking up at feeling extreme pain in my jaw that was slowly moving around from the top row of teeth, through the jaw joint, and down to my bottom teeth, and then back up again. It was horrible! I thought I might black out from the pain. When I woke up, however, the extreme pain wasn't there, but my teeth were and still are aching from it. I keep having to remind myself to let my mouth hang slightly open or I'll start clenching again without realizing it. I really hope this stops soon because I can't deal with it for much longer.

This medication was a disaster. 10mg, 20mg were ok, the jump to 40mg really messed me up. Extreme sadness and ANGER. Being treated for MDD, but this was NOT what I needed. Lost all interest in things. Pretty much did the opposit of what was needed. Didn't even go out to see my new motorcycle for over a month! Off it now and better in many ways.Going for a "break" for a bit before I try anything else.

Ive been taking Viibryd for about 2 weeks. This little pill has been a disaster for me. I have been nothing but dizzy. I walk into walls at work, tripping over just about everything and just really having a hard time with this. I had to leave work early tonight due to this dizziness. I was stumbling around half my shift, walking into the walls, tripping over wheelchairs, not being able to walk in a straight line and to top it off, really blurry vision. Granted this pill did make me alittle more out-going but I would rather stay a recluse then deal with the side effects of this. I have been on many anti-depressents over the past 18 years, and this has been one of the worst. Now that my dizziness is gone I have a flaming headache. Feel like I was out on a all night bender. I also have not been able to sleep. I do have insomnia to begin with but this makes it way worse. Not to mention the really WEIRD dreams that I have been having. I am never taking Viibryd again. I must call my doctor tomorrow and get my Celexa back.

I do want to add something positive to that post. My husband says it has worked wonders for my irritability and I seem like I am in overall a more positive and patient mood. He wants me to stick it out and give the meds a change and to stop GOOGLING, lol

I'm on day 17 now, I had a major panic attack night when trying to take viibryd right before I thought I would fall asleep. It lasted 3.5 hours. THis is not associated with another drug because I have been off wellbutrin since december and lexapro was before that. I also had a lot of anxiety (not an attack) while going out with my husband and friend. I think what they say about alcohol may be true, went out drinking that night and got drunk not intending to and having 3 beers and 2 shots (his friends were ordering rounds) and I had my head in the toilet from 3am to 8am. I'm not sure the meds are working at all. I don't feel any better and Im taking the viibryd for anxiety. I've actually had to take more of my xanax since viibryd. I've read somewhere that someone said stick it out until the 3rd of 4th week because it will really kick in. I hope so. I also think its really hard for people to rate this med when coming off another med. Its hard to know what is the withdrawal and what is the viibryd. When coming off lexapro cold turkey (i know.. dumb!) I felt chest pressure and shortness of breath. I thought it was bronchitis and I just had mucus stuck so I took every cold medicine. I couldnt even walk to the mailbox without being out of breath. I went to mdnow and they sent me straight to the er and the er wanted to observe me all night for a heart attack (im a 32 year old female) My dr finally comes in the next day and asks me if i came off the lexapro and I said yea..2 weeks ago. he said it was totally from that and put me back on the lexaro and I tapered off. SOOOOOO crazy because I had NO ANXIETY and never would have suspected the drug could do that. I wish all of us luck on this med and please keep posting how you are all doing!

I have been on vii for going on 4weeks. Switching from Zoloft to this. I have had not a lot os side effects but I did miss 1 day of taking my new meds and I will NEVER do that again. Dreams were bad and I woke up feeling like I wanted to cry all day. The dreams were so real and I couldn't stop!! Memory not the best but doc thinks this is all from changing meds. All I can do is hope this will all work out in the end and we have to hit rough patches along the way....which does suck! Please let me know if this has happened to you

I'm keeping a log and here is my info for each day so far.

1 stomach cramps- diarrhea, insomnia
2 stomach cramps, diarrhea, nausea, brain zaps (after taking naproxen) insomnia
3 strong stomach cramp lasted ony for a few seconds- reg bowel movement, very calm after taking .5xanax which usually wouldn’t have helped too much because my dr has me on 1mg, but slightly irritated/anxious after apple cider. insomnia
4 no symptoms but didn’t take viibryd in the morning, took it at night
5 diarrhea in the AM only, probably because I took it last night before going to bed. No stomach cramps
6- very very tired all day.. drank 3 or 4 cups of coffee and they had no effect, loose stool but not diarrhea, irritated but not anxious. Not overly irrated, just annoyed for an hour or so.

Also on day 5 I went out with a friend, let her know to keep an eye because of the new bed and alcohol but I had 4 beers and felt completely fine the next day. Im not having any kinds of problems with drinking in moderation on this med but haven't been on it for too long so I will take it slow.

For those of you who experienced joint pain on Viibryd, has your pain gone away since weaning from the drug? I am dealing with that now and slowly weaning off. I'm hoping to be pain free again soon!

32 year old male. Just took my 4th 10mg sample pack pill about an hour ago. So far my side effects have been pooping almost right at an hour after taking the pill. The only other side effect has been confusion. It's worse closer to the time I take the pill. I just completely lose my train of thought and stand there looking into space. Caught myself just standing around at work today clicking my pen for who knows how long. After I go to bed and wake up it's not as bad.

My doctor told me that there would be some effects for the first two weeks or so while my body adjusted. This is my first time taking something for my atypical depression.

The Viibryd worked well for me. I would wake up rested, ready for the day - no anxiety or depresson but if i forgot to take it at all or on time NIGHTMARES!! It is horrible! I went down to 20 mg lost my energy, slight level of anxiety. I'm going to try Cymbalta if that does not work I'm going to set my alarm to remind me to take my drugs...otherwise I'M AFRAID TO GO TO SLEEP!

Hi everyone - 24 year old female. I'm on the second week of my Vii trial pack. I have an issue with "compulsive negative thinking" that has caused some pretty terrible issues all of my life. I also have ADHD and take 20 mg of Adderall. I am on the 2nd week (20 mg pills).

So far I feel like this pill is slowly helping me. I say this because instead of my brian automatically calling out everything wrong in every situation, I've actually had a few instances where I was just happy and those things didn't cross my mind...it felt amazing.

Side effects so far...

I haven't had any joint pain like the other people posting about this med online have. I also do Bikram yoga 3-4 times a week, so that could be the reason why I haven't experienced that side effect.

One thing that I've noticed is every time after I eat a meal I feel like within an hour I have to use the bathroom. It's not diarrhea, it's just really soft stool. I used to go maybe once a day or every other day, now I'm going multiple times a day. My DR did advise me that I may have stomach discomfort for the first few weeks. I'm not sure if this is what he meant.

Anyway, so far so good. I hope that the frequent bowel movements will pass.

I will check back in after I've been on the 40mg for a while.

Having been on Zoloft, Celexa, and Effexor, I must say I am soooo much better on Viibryd. I had the same side effects on the previous 3 (fatigue, huge weight gain) and TERRIBLE withdraw on Effexor. I have had absolutely no side effects on Viibryd. Not to mention way more energy and normal appetite. Everyone is different though!

ok...i'm a 41 yr old female, who has recently been diagnosed as diabetic after gaining a bout 25 lbs and my sweet tooth is in complete overdrive!! there are days that i feel like i might seriously die if i dont have some sugar. its horrible.
i have had some incidents of being very snarky and crappy with my friends and family, and if i miss a pill, i feel like a total B. ive actually gained some weight (ok, lotsa wight) but i dont know if the vii is connected or not. i did just recently start to notice that my knees hurt going up and down the stairs, like needles poking into the backside of my kneecap, but again, i'm not sure if the med has anything to do with that. sigh...overall, i'm seriously considering going off the medicine just to see if i lose some weight if my knees get better. i've only been on this medicine for about 3 months, with the last 2 being at 40mgs. has anyone else suffered weight gain?

I am new to this board stuff but I have a side effect that is concerning me. I've been on Viibryd for several months. Worked my way up to 40. It was added with Welbutrin I'm already taking. And I have been taking Ambien for 10 years after a mastectomy and trouble sleeping. I have been waking up in the middle of the night seeing things in my room and closet that look real. I will stare at it for a long time and it doesn't go away. And to see if it moves. I will close my eyes and when I open them it's gone and I'm able to see what is actually there. I'm now starting to see them move and appear to be looking back at me. I know I'm awake. My husband said he saw me last night holding my head up looking at something. If I miss a pill one day I will wake up the next morning feeling bad. I tried Cymbalta in the past, liked it, but negative side effects sexually. Does anyone have the same experience?

Wow, Crystal, I can totally relate to the aggression (verging-on-violence). That's why I had to go off Vii. That and the excruciating joint pain. Oh, yeah, and the inability to remember ANYTHING AT ALL.
Didn't have headaches tho.
Anyway, coming off Vii was a bummer b/c I had high hopes for it. It was also a b**** to come off. Not the actual drug (like Efx XR was), but I became so suicidal/ violent that my husband and Dr nearly put me inpatient (weeks 2-5 after stopping Vii).
Thankfully I've found a new pdoc who 'thinks outside the box.' I'm on new meds that made a marked difference moodwise w/in a week!
Anyway, at ~7 weeks off, the aggression is WAY better than it was. Only occasional flareups.
The joint pain is still here, sadly. But not as bad. Used to be some days I couldn't even lift my left arm (b/c of elbow & shoulder joints), now, most days, I can, but still can't really lift anything else without pain (less than it used to be, but still present).
Memory's still pretty shot, too. :(
Anyway, perhaps your pdoc can offer some insight into how it's effecting you and possible solutions. Hang in there! :)
