Viibryd Side Effects (Page 15) (Top voted first)
UpdatedWhat if any side effects are people experiencing on viibryd
Once those side effects hit me, they continued. All it took was missing a dose. From then on, it was many mos. of attacks, that Stephen King would've loved to write about. I do not have a dark mind. Don't watch scary movies. I had to remind myself to talk of Jesus & Faith in my nightmares & the night that I had enough of the SP & night terrors, I began fighting the demon that was holding me down w/ words of the Holy Spirit & after feeling so much fighting & pulling of this demon out of my body, it finally left me alone, jumped the the floor & it slapped my feet & my husband's as it ran out of the room. I was no longer plagued by --what is actually talked about on Google-- this short demon figure. I had many auditory hallucinations for mos. after & felt hit in the head by a softball while napping. Having said all that, it was just weeks ago that I decided to add Wellbutrin to my Lexapro. I woke up w/ the bright orange brain explosion again & also woke to feeling slapped so hard it rattled pain into my sinuses. I've stopped the Wellbutrin. I was also taking Wellbutrin, I think, w/ the Viibryd. I will never take Effexor due to my experience w/ Viibryd. And yes, it was about the same time as finishing up my glorious Viibryd mos. (snri's work best for me) that the all over body pain hit. I've been bedridden for over 3 yrs. SED & CRP high. Rheum. said whatever it is, it hasn't shown itself yet. I've been dx w/ Fibro Sjogrens PN TN ET....and my Dr. who prescribed the Viibryd & chose me as his 1st patient, after all I've been thru w/ past cancer, well...he should be ashamed of himself. Never an apology. His nurses acknowledged the problems w/ Viibryd.
ive neem on vybriid for 5 plus years. i have had side effects. it is very important to take your medication with food. to not skip a dose. i take mine at night. im on 40 mg. if i dont eat with it i get brain zaps. you also need to stay hydrated so drink plenty of liquids. i learned the hard way. there are things about this medication people dont like. i dont see those things unless i deviate from my schedule. when i transitioned to 40 mg as my insurance company is a jerk i was taking 30 mg a pill and a half. it was perfect. took a couple months to adjust. my dreams are extremley vivid "lucid dreams" i had stomach issues too. but im good now..still have the dreams. i get brain zaps from time to time and u just gotta roll with them they go away. just stay on top of your dosages u should be fine.
60 mg? the highest is 40. i so agree with you. i think its possible that the people who are having issues have only been on the medication for a relatively short time. they also seem to be on other various drugs as well. i try to post as much as i can as i get so frustrated with the negative comments. a drug like this is not an overnight cure. it takes time your dose with your starter pack is just a starter pack. i see a psych dr. i do not get my meds prescribed by a gp or primary care physician. they are not very qualified to prescribe meds like that. my psych dr worked with me kept on top of me. i saw her every 2 weeks in the beginning. if my dose changes like it just did because of insurance reasons i was back to her every 2 weeks. it took a few months of enduring some side effects but it is worth it. i watch horror movies every night i dont have dreams about satan. i have bizarre dreams that make me feel like im living it. i wake up and am like wtf crazy night but that's it. you roll with it. if u want to feel better you have to take the good with the bad. in the end the good outweighs the bad and u can live a happy life. this drug got me through a really difficult time. it has helped me even out. be happy. i think some of you guys have more serious issues and really focus on these side effects. which is not good. so much of it is in your mind. you MUST stay on top of this med. You MUST take with food. you MUST stay hydrated. you MUST take this med at the same time daily. you MUST take this med EVERY DAY. if you do not do this you will feel like s***.
I was on Viibryd for 3+ years and had no side effects besides the common ones when I missed a dose. I was on the 40 mg dose for over a year when I started having night terrors, extreme dizziness, and horrible joint pain. My psych doc denied that Viibryd was causing it, but my family doc disagreed. I decided to stop taking it, and after really bad withdrawal symptoms for several weeks, my symptoms slowly went away. I've been off for 4 months and my joint pain is almost gone and I'm feeling so much better.
That is so strange! I have had the zaps in the back of my throat and head for so long! I have been scared of nerve issues for a year and a half now! I'm so relieved to know that it's just side effects!
I went to 10mg and I am back to feeling great. I guess everyone reacts to meds differently and I DO feel better on the lowest dosage. No more brain zaps or nightmares
I suppose that every one's body is different and some have a lot of different side effects when they take Vi. I don't have any side effects of which I'm aware. To what kind of throat issues are you referring and what is sleep paralysis? I don't believe that Vi is a complete cure for depression, anxiety, etc.. I've never taken any anti depressant that totally cured my depression, anxiety, etc. I've taken Lexapro which made me manic; Cymbalta that compromised my body's process of elimination and Wellbutrin which cured depression, anxiety, etc., but made me blurt out things that didn't come out as I meant it. I used to have a lot of bad dreams on Vi, but my phyc upped my blood pressure medicine and the bad dreams stopped or else I now don't remember them upon awakening, I would recommend Vi. It has worked for me better than any other. By ALL Means, take your Vi in the morning after you've eaten. And I agree that you should make a point to stay hydrated. My late daddy was a pharmacist and he said any time you're taking medicine, your should be sure to drink plenty of water.
Viibryd had been part of my daily medications regimen for almost a year now. It was prescribed for PTSD symptoms but, I also have diagnosis of Fibromyalgia, Chronic Depressive Disorder, Insomnia and a few others. The Viibryd I thought was a saving Grace Medication. It seemed to really help with the repetitive thoughts stemming from my PTSD. After almost a year though I realized there are many things occurring that I didn't link to medication due to the circumstances. My Fibromyalgia had been very live consuming add I have constant debilitating pain. I for the lady 6 to 7 months been experiencing excruciating pain in areas that were not bothering me as much Previously. Due to my Fibro and my only getting older I felt that it was just getting worse. But, my pain levels went from a CONSTANT 7.5 to 8...to surpassing 10 on must days. Previously I could take my pain meds at the point of waking and allow it to kick in for about an hour and then I had a little mobility in order to get out of Bed. Then it took another hour or so for my Joints to loosen up to where I could walk. So, usually after 2 hours from waking I was able to have some mobility with a 7-8 pain level. I understand that is pretty high for a constant daily level. I gave birth 100% natural and have had 16 epidural steroidal inj's into my spine without being Anesthetized because I had no insurance. I know pain. I have an EXTREMELY HIGH PAIN TOLERANCE. I also have to have my Spouse help me in and out of bed in order to use the restroom and helpmeup and down. He had to physically uncross or move my legs of i have been sleeping as my body goes rigid rack time i fall asleep and my kegs do not move on their own add of they are paralyzed until moved . I have never experienced this before nor have I had pain like I experience on a minute by minute and daily levels as I am having now. I am in the process of weaning from the Viibryd. I am praying this is going to be the change needed. I have pain levels that I can only Rate as a 10 on a pain level scale. But, I would rate it a 15 if I could.
It is so excruciating. I can no longer get up and down from the restroom myself most days. I go in and out of the Bathtub as scolding hot as I can make it as it seems to help for 15 to 20 minutes on average of 10 to 12 times in a day. General having to receive help to get in and out of the tub.i cannot go up and down my stairs workout help. So, if I do laundry. ..I can only do it when someone is home with me. In the beginning. ..I could scoot up the stairs on my butt. I can't do that any more because I can't use my knees to help push. I have excruciating pain in my feet and my toes up to my ankles to my knees being so weak that at many times they give out on me. My neck and back hurt so bad that it it hurts unbelievably to sit or stand and my fingers, Knuckles and wrists along with my elbows and shoulders ache ,throb and hurry so bad to just move them but, to have then touched even is unbareadable. I have NEVER felt passion line this in my life. I have been Suicidal now after being put on this Medication add OxyCotin twice daily and 8 Lortab 10s faint doesn't even touch the pain in this matter. I have been on pain medication for years from my Fibro. ..but, this pain is so different. It is not only pain within the nerves or tendons. This pain is in the depth of your Bones. You feel like ice picks or screwdrivers are being jabbed into your bones or that someone is prying the cartridge away from the bones. Then they throb. They throb so bad that you would rather not feel anything again in your entire life than have to feel this pain. I can't allow my own Child to sit on my lap. I can't hug someone without it hurting. I can't stand the thought of being intimate because my pain is so bad that I can't stand the thought of even being touched. But, when I do. ..the Medication doesn't allow me to climax anyways.
To Tink, I have porphyria and the pain you described as coming from your bones, feeling like the cartilage is pulling away from the bone is the same discription I have described to my Dr's. The throbbing "bone" pain can be an ongoing uncomfortable 3-5/10 or extremely painful 8-10/10 on painscale. ONLY Tyl#4 x1-2 q4hrs until pain "dissapated" works for me.
Do chelation therapy treatments. . It's non medication cleanse
How long have you been on Viibryd? Did you have any pains like this before Viibryd? I'd suggest 5000vit D3 & 200-400 Magnesium/day. I just started mag a week or 2 ago. I bought chelated Mag bc the drugstore kind gives me diarrhea. You can also get mag from 3 Epsom salt baths/week, using 2 cups per bath (plus the baths are relaxing and help pain).
Tink, I just scrolled back & read your detailed post. Definitely do vit D3 & Mag supplements daily. My friend was nearly crippled with Fibro/pain (wasn't on Viibryd). She started supplements, weaned off her pain pills (Percocet & Valium), got on Baclofen, and she's like a new person. In 2012 she bought a cane. Last year after supplements, off pain pills, on Baclofen & losing weight, she's now doing yoga daily and pain & tingling/numbness is like a 2-3.
Ah I forgot to say- my friend has PTSD with ruminating thoughts, and was given either amitriptline or nortriptiline?, for it & it also has worked very well for her. Something to discuss w/stour psychiatrist.
This is my 1st day taking 10mg vibryd, I usually am so tired bu this time of night that I lay my 8month old daughter down and we sleep. I can't stop thinking about things that need to get done around the house. Its like I am restless and can't sleep but tired at the same time. I have a slight head ache and pains behind my eyes.I also have had bad bowe or lower belly pain. But my anxiety has decreased alot. I am very sensitive to these types of medications. I was nervous to,start vibryd becase I am the primary care giver of my daughter. Also the only reason I am trying this class of drug I'd be ause I have suffered from ptsd, anxiety and worrie disorder for years but, after having the baby I had bad bad mood swings and slight depression. I am happy most days but some I just lose myself in worrie a dought. Hoping and praying this works for me. How long do I have to take it,before it works good enough to tell.??
I'm having similar side effects with. Viibryd 40. loss of appetite, anxiety and I increased depression...After over a month
Hair loss????? I'll keep an eye out. Hair is already bad enough for me as a woman
This is me too, with the nightmares. I am only on 20 mg, start 40 next week, first time I took my 20 mg earlier in the day I had the noghtmares that night, they make me sleepy too sometimes, not all the time though.
I have been on Viibryd about 40 days now. Initially I had stomach cramps, pain and some diarrhea, and gas. Now I have some gas in the morning and the nausea continues, particularly after I eat. I also have pain and/or weakness in my left leg. I get "ticks" where my body has a quick "zap" through it. I am asking the doctor to take me off of this. I am also tired. I previously had luck with Lexapro but it also made me tired and affected my libido. I will be trying Trintillex.
Ruth, I think I already replied to you but I will say again. I have everyone of those same side effects. Additionally, I've become fearful.... scared of everything. I shake, inside and out and my anxiety had tripled. My heart races so badly on two occasions I thought I was having a heart attack. I've lost almost 20 lbs in two and a half months and sleep has become impossible for me. I can fall asleep but 3-4 hours is all I get.
Pain in my knee, which I never had before, has become constant and my shoulder blade and neck hurt so bad I sit on a hot pad.
My psychiatrist blames me because I've been on anti depressants for years. After a period of time they aren't as effective..... if I didn't have my anti anxiety meds to take with vibryd, I think I'd have ended up in the hospital. My heart will start raving so wildly.
Eventually I believe this med will be withdrawn. It's dangerous.
I was taking Lamotrigine 100mg, Buproprion XL 300mg and Adderall 30mg for years. Then it seemed my depression was getting worse so we bumped bupropion up to 450. That didn't help so I went back to 300 mg and I started Viibryd on 5/18/2015. 10mg the first week, 20mg the second week.
I was feeling great. Wow, I had energy, felt witty with a good sense of humor, but there were some side effects like VERY vivid dreams. Dry mouth. I started to notice that my joints were aching. I went to the dentist and couldn't keep my mouth open because my jaw hurt so much. At week 3, I went for my yearly physical and I could barely drive (manual transmission). It was hard getting up, starting to walk, bending joints. Got x-rays of feet, knees, hands, cervical spine, had blood labs, sleep apnea tests and other stuff.
I was still at 20mg. I was sitting on the toilet and the rug started undulating like a field of wheat - yeah I know all about hallucinations. I researched Viibryd a little deeper and found a few complaints about joint pain, muscle aches and interactions with Bupropion and Adderall, along with hallucinations, dry mouth, etc.
I got a call from my primary. I had slight apnea, but he was more concerned about my oxygen utilization. Blood labs came back showing an elevated RF - rheumatoid factor - so I was supposed to see a rheumatologist. I told him to skip the rheumatologist because I was suspecting that Viibryd was causing my aches. Called my psych doctor and told her I was weaning myself off of it. I dropped down to 10mg for another week.
All of this happened between mid-May and mid-June, 1 month. Afterwards, I was still having joint and muscle issues. I didn't start feeling normal until the following January but I still had flare-ups. RF factor started going down and now it's back to normal. 2 years.
