I have been off this med for 1 and 1/2 months and am STILL having joint pain. How long does this side effect take to go away. I am only 35 and feel 75. Help!

Sorry to hear on the panic attack. That was one reason I went to the dr to get something to control mini panic attacks that produced heart palpitations, or PVCs is what it is called. I have been on other SSRIs in the past, and I never found them an immediate magic bullet. They are helpful, but, cannot stop all the junk the brain wants to do involuntarily. Now, I have never gone to any full max dosage, by my own choice. So, I have never given any SSRI the optimum chance to work, but, I cannot say what would have happened in my case had I gone to the max dosage. This time, on Viibryd, I might go the full dosage just to see what effect, but I am skeptical these drugs will work to the degree I wish they could.
As for panic attacks, self help is the best, with relaxation techniques, breathing inhale and exhale, and exercise, relaxing baths, etc, etc. I will take a benzo drug if a real bad one happens, but, otherwise, I have learned to control them. Hope you can find a way to control them.

So I've been on viibryd for a week 10mg I start 20 tomorrow. I had a major panic attack last night and woke up with itchy blisters on my palms! Has anyone experienced this. Not to mention terrifying
Nightmares!!

I posted previously a couple of weeks ago after starting this Viibryd. At first it seemed to work, but, then, it stopped, but, now it kicked in better. I will start taking 30mg a day. No side symptoms. Been on for 5 weeks Only complaint is that this seemed to create extra anxiety elevation at times. Dr. says this is normal and it will relieve anxiety by two months into its use. So, with extra dose and more time, I will test to see how it works. Overall, I feel better with it.

Watch out for that joint pain. I had to quit taking it altogether because the pain was so bad my shrink had to prescribe anti-inflammatory drugs. The joints in my hips, ankles, tops of my feet, knuckles, elbows - really all my joints - got worse and worse every day. What sucked was the drug helped my depression. But I mistrust something that gets my joints inflamed - what is in it that would muck up our joints? I've been off for a few months now, and the joint pain is almost gone.

My doctor has put me on this in addition to the welbutrin. I have had a headache for 3 days now. I am on day 6 of the medicine. He did warn me that until my brain is used to producing the right amount of the chemicals it should produce I may have headaches. I am going to stay on it a while longer to see. I am hoping this medicine works for me. I have pretty much tried them all.

Joe- I had the same result when I first started I thought this is wonderful my depression lifted but only for a short time but this not unusual. I have been on it for a year now with no side effects, am also on Lamotrigine because I still experienced the occasional episode of depression and this took the low spots away. Since my depression was so bad I am on 60 mg of Viibryd and will continue as long as needed.

Started Viibyrd with the starter pack. I felt after 10 days my symptoms were 50% better, that is, less depressed and less anxious. Now, on 20s for 3 weeks, one month since the start, and I feel this med stopped working. Anxiety is higher than before started. No side effects, except some joint pains. I will see my dr in a week and maybe try 30-40 mg, to see if this med will actually work. Right now discouraged that it is not kicking in as hoped for.

I experienced very severe symptoms during an accelerated weaning-off period from Effexor. I had what are commonly referred to as "brain zaps" and cycled through deep depression for two weeks. If you ever go off Effexor, please insist on a gentle and very gradual program. It is utterly miserable otherwise.

I didn't really notice much improvement with the 10mg Viibryd but the 20 mg works really well for me. Hope it continues to keep my anxiety at rest.

I wonder why the doctors push to keep the dose at 40mg. That was way too strong for me. I had severe side effects.
I am comfortable at 10mg.

I started on theviibryd starter pack over a month ago for anxeity.10mg for 7 days then 20mg for 7 days. Then the 40 mg. After being on the 40 mg for about 10 days I started to feel very anxious and out of sorts, a little nausea too. I took 4 more pills and continued not feeling well. I decided to cut the pills in half and go back to 20mg dose. The very next day I feel good again. It is helping cope very well now after 3 days back on 20mg. My Dr. called me about another matter and I told her about it. She says well stay at 20 for a little while then try to go back up to 40. I think i'll just stay at 20mg. My body rejected the 40mg this time and I just think its way too strong for me. I tried effexor before the viibrid and 7 hours after taking it, I developed a severe headache with nausea and then vomiting. My pupils were also dialated from it. I won't take that ever again.

I started on the sample pack and settled on the 20mg but now am cutting the pills in half because I was too lethargic. Severe joint pain in my hips and shoulders is making me rethink the medication. I had been on Lexapro for a number of years and it was losing it's effect. I have not seen a weight gain on Viibryd but the joint pain and gas/diarrhea are too much.

I've taken 5 of the 10 mg tablets. Tonight will be 6. So far I have had no side effects except a tiny bit of gas and this morning I feel a little lethargic and lightheaded. I will work up to 20 mg and then maybe 40, and see how it goes. I'm optimistic, but we shall see. I was on Abilify, but didn't like the side effects. I'm also on 300 mg of Wellbutrin and 15 mg of Deplin, which I take in the morning. Again, I take the Viibryd at night with my evening meal and have no nausea or diarrhea.

I too have been on this and experience joint pain. I thought it could be from the line of work I do, but i am leaning more toward my medication. I was previously on Pristiq, and that one didnt settle well with me either, so i am thinking talking to my doctor bout going back on effexor. This is the only one i have never had weight gain with or any other side effects. I have also been extra tired with the Viibryd I think. I can come in from work and sleep for hours meaning like 12 hrs plus. This is so not normal. Hope everyone has a blessed day.

I have been on Viibryd for about four months. In the last two months, I've experienced severe joint pain in all joints (no exaggeration). I had been up to 60 mg, cut back to 40 (with the idea of weaning myself off it) and am now taking 20 mg while reintroducing good old Prozac. I am also experiencing pronounced weight gain on Viibryd. Have others gone through this as well?

Emma, I hear ya ! Contact your doctor ! I am now on Cymbalta and they did lower my klonopin and replaced it with a very lose dose beta blocker to help my anxiety...my depression, as per my previous post, also got much worse while on it...pls dont wait, call your doctor now !...the symptoms are horrible ! Let me know how you are doing !!

This medication was making me more depressed!!!! I had to wean myself off of it. I tried to go up to 20 and my anxiety went through the roof! I have been without medication for 3 days now and am suffering from dizzy spells!!!! I hope this goes away soon!!! Anybody else suffering from dizzy spells when trying to get off the medication? I do not like this medication!!!!

I have been on Viibryd for about 3 months. After the initial side effects it worked really well for me. This is my first time ever taking antidepressants, so I wasn't sure what to expect. My problem now is that for the past 2-3 weeks I've been having brain zaps, very dizzy, i've gained over 10 lbs, I lack concentration and I get sudden body jerks when in bed. This medication was prescribed by my general practitioner (my therapist labeled me with severe depression), so I do think I need to see a Psychiatrist next. I can't take it anymore, will start to wean myself off of it. Going on vacation next week and concerned I might be miserable.
