Going to start it tomorrow. Anyone else taking it, and if so, how do you like it?

Thanks!

Hi, for me, it worked best to take dosages slowly, by cutting in half for 3-4 days and then move up to the correct dose. I never had any real bad symptoms, but, what was weird is that the drug kicked in, then, backed off, and then, kicked in eventually in about 2-3 weeks. Now on it for 2 months and it is working very nice. Best SSRI for me yet.

Hi everyone! I am on day 8 of Viibryd. I just finished the 10mg and am afraid to jump to 20mg so o cut my first 20mg in half. Did any one have any problems going from 10mg to 20mg?

Hated it, thought it was gonna be a wonder drug but almost immediately i had bad symptoms, angry, irritable, mean, just overall horrible and i tried it slowly advancing for over a month. Then the withdrawl from it was really bad, they dont always tell you that. Good luck, hope it works for you.

sorry, it would have been better to take 5 mg, and then, 10 and then 15 slowly. Doctors are hasty and want to play the odds to get relief, but they risk side effects.
They go away, but you got to hang in there and if you do, you may be very happy with the end results, like me

I started with 10 mg. I noticed the side effects on the third or fourth day. I've been on the 20 mg now for three days and the effects are now extreme. I just called my doctor to let him know it is NOT working for me!

Hi. Sorry to hear about this. Did you start off with 1/2 doses as I did to avoid some of the known initial side effects? Are you still on it or quit?

I have found this drug to be the best one yet after having had others to date. It will never be a 100% return to normal, but, I am pleased with the results with no side effects I can detect. Yes, at the beginning, I had issues with it, but those quickly faded.

My big problem is the cost factor. It is too costly with my insurance plan.

I have been off and on commenting about this SSRI since I began it maybe around 7-8 weeks now. My shrink told me to start with the free starter pack, but cut the 10s into 5s. That was to avoid any initial side effects or upset stomach he said. That was for the first 6 days. Then, go to the 10s and finish with the 20s in the starter pack. After that was done, I stayed on 20s, but went up to 30s. I had to buy 40s and 10s from the drug store where you cut the 40s 1/2 and then take the 10 for 30s.
Anyway, my only negative was at the beginning it kicked in and then stopped for a few days, and then kicked it. Now it is working very well and I am pleased with the results.
In my case, I am taking this to fight GAD as the primary problem, not depression, which if it happens, it is mild and is due to just being worn out from GAD.
Bottom line, I do recommend this medicine as the best one over others I have taken. Yet in the past, when I took SSRIs, I had a hectic and overloaded job. Now I am retired, so that I am removed from the job stresses. Therefore maybe this drug is just doing what any other SSRI does in my case.
I may want to switch to save money, as this one costs too much.

How do you get 30 mg of viibryd? I have been on 30 mg for several weeks trying to dose up to 40 again. At 1st 40 was too strong so i now cut my pills to take a half and a quarter. That is not the most accurate method. Is the 30 an available dose from the pharmacy. I pay $ 25 with my ins after prior authorization to my ins.

I am on week 3 of Viibryd. Titrated down from Lexapro 20mg and adding Viibryd at 10mg. Week 2 completely off Lexapro and went to Viibryd 20mg, then week 3 Viibryd is increased to 40mg. I have to say that Viibryd has been excellent for me all the way around, except if I don't take it correctly. On week 2, I had forgotten to take it in the morning and by the time hubby got home that afternoon, I was a mental mess! He had found a pill on the floor and asked me if it was mine? Sure enough it was! I had it in sitting on the coffee table with my other pills to take and didn't know it had fallen on the floor. Today I forgot to take my pills at my usual 10:00 and by 1:30 pm, I was beginning to decompensate. Thankfully, I learned to recognize the symptoms from my previous missed dose episode and promptly took it. Within about 1.5 hours I was feeling much better. I have Multiple Sclerosis and am very chemically sensitive to many medications so I was very skeptical that I'd have any success with Viiryd. I did have some nausea with beginning dose and one the 1st day of dose increases, but it soon subsided. The worst side effect is some memory problems, but I deal with that without medication. What amazes me more than anything is how fast this medication must be washing out of my system? I've never had rebound mental health issues happen so fast after missing a dose, literally within hours! It has really given me insight into how swiftly moods can cycle with bipolar disease! For me, the benefits far out weight deficits, so if everything remains stable I will continue with Viibryd. Also, I have not noticed loss of hair at this point either. If anyone has experienced rapid decompensation while taking their dose late or skipping a dose, please post your experience and share? Here's hoping I don't forget the next dose : )

I have been on Viibryd for about 7 weeks now, taking 30mg. It kicked in and is working nicely. No real side effects. It is expensive stuff. After insurance, I pay about $60 for a month at 30 mg. It is tough to afford that and I may need to change to a cheaper SSRI.
I feel it is an ok drug for me and I would recommend it, except for the price to buy.

I started on the Viibryd kit. Started on 10 mg,increasing to 40. I also take it with 300 mg Wellbutrin. When I went from 20 mg to 40,it was to much. My heart rate went up,I felt panicked. Now I am back on 20 again. This is really the only problem I have had. After having been on anti-depressants for over 20 years, they are now combining 2 medications for better effectiveness. This seems to work much better. The combination of Viibryd and Wellbutrin has no sexual side affects, which many anti-depressants do.

I was only one for 3 weeks, have been off for 6 weeks, and am still experiencing side effects. It's comforting to know that others are dealing with this and it's not just me. My Doctor and Pharmacist tell me it has to be out of my system by now.... but I still feel off, kinda worried.

On the plus side, my OCD symptoms are way down. I'm in a weird position where I'm actually wanting them to come back, just so I'll know this stuff is no longer affecting me.

Unless you had better experience with other SSRIs, or this is the first one, yes, it can work eventually, as that has been my case. Normally you have to tough it out if the dr said to go to 40MG, unless you are dropping to the lower amount and then intend to go higher. Dosage is really a dr call based on weight, age, gender, symptoms, kinds of disorders, etc, etc. Always try to follow what the dr thinks is best, unless you have the special symptoms that are signals to stop due to the known allergic reactions, etc, that these drugs can produce, which are rare.

I've been on Viibryd for a couple of weeks now, using the starter pack. With 10 mg I thought I noticed a (good) difference, but on the 5th day of 20 mg I noticed I was agitated, restless, nervous, and irritable. That lasted for 3 days when I was supposed to start 40 mg and ended up cutting those pills into quarters to try and get back to 10 mg. It doesn't seem to be working and I'm weepy, negative, and irritable again, which is how I was before I started the medication.

Should I stick with it because some of you said it takes a few weeks for it to kick in? I can't stand the idea of feeling this way for the next few weeks!

Nightmares don't occur with me on this drug. Neither on other SSRIs I have taken. I have been told everybody has their own unique reasons for nightmares. Often there is no explainable cause. It is agood idea to go to a sleep clinic that can study sleep characteristics. Currently I think the 30 mg dose is helpful at about 60% of symptoms. My goal is 80% reduction at least. It may take 30 days more to see what happens on that goal. Hope you find relief.

I have been taking this for a couple months but I also have TERRIFYING nightmares! I have recently went off it for that reason.
