Going to start it tomorrow. Anyone else taking it, and if so, how do you like it?
Thanks!
Please beware! I learned the hard way, bring your prescriotion bottle anytime you take Klonopin with you. If police stop youn tthat is a Controlled substance and they will criminally cahrge you anf you will have to go to court to show you were. THAT'S what they need to put on bottles! Not all this take with food and stuff. Even if found not guilty! Stays on your record for three years til expunged. This goes for ANY controlled subStance.
I'm with u, birdie. I see 40 as a no-no in this thread too. Have fun in NYC. Been there a couple of times and loved it too. Let us know how you do when you get back. It's U time!! lol
Thank you guys - you've been so helpful with this thread. Julie, thanks for the well wishes - going to NYC and although I love that city, the crowds can be overwhelming at times and pick at my anxiety. I have Klonopin to use as needed though, so I think I'll be fine. (I don't use that very often but it's good to have on hand). I'm also concerned with the "bathroom" issue and lets face it folks, that is not fun when you are on vacation and sharing a hotel room with a friend. Your posts made me feel better though, as 20 mg seems to be a good dose.
One thing I HAVE determined on this thread - I am NOT taking 40 mg! My doctor only wrote the Rx for 20 mg anyway. It sounds like yes, you should definately listen to your body, and that 40 mg tends to make things worse for some of us. Of course everyone is different. Thanks again!
I agree, you have to base it on how u feel. I don't believe there is a one size fits all.
This is very common where people are comfortable with a particular dose and there is a tendency why take more than what is needed. But, the standard dose is 30-40 for most people, because, that is what the testing showed to be the best results. People generally need to be on this med for a couple of years or longer, and thus, that dose is the one most people wind up using for the long term.
Some even need to go higher.
Of course there are factors on age, gender, kind of disorder, weight, and other diseases that may exist.
In my case, I am on 30, and doing well and I see no reason to up to 40mg unless I have set backs in the effects that are now beneficial.
When people have bi-polar, that is a different issue and other drugs often need to be added to the mix. MWIOOJ
I didn't have any side effects going from 10 to 20. 20 is where I felt my best, hit flashes from menopause, everything was gone. My doc said he was increasing me to 40, I asked why as I felt fine at 20, he said tthat is supposed to make everything the best and its the normal dose? Well, I wish I hadn't listened, I was on 40 for a wk, then asked him to go back 20 where I was happy. Unfortunately I get hot flashes again, downside to increg. So if u r happy with "how" u feel at a lower dose, don't go higher just for the heck of it. Base it on how u feel as someone earlier said.
I didn't have side effects with 20. In fact my doc just told me this morning to cut down from the 40 back to the 20 and stay on lamictal 25 mgs. I hope you do ok and enjoy nyour vacation. Sometimes a vacation does a lot of good, but not if you're feeling yucky.. If you are worried call your doctor and see if you should stay on 10 until you get back home. Good luck and HAVE FUN!!
Did anyone have bad side effects when switching from 10 mg to 20? I do that tmro and going on vacation so I'm afraid.
I definitely agree that sometimes we are the best stewards of our own health. The prescribing docs don't have to live with the side effects day in and day out! I have been tapering up but after being on 20 and getting the zinging zappies again, I took a 10mg in the afternoon of the Viibryd and seemed to be doing alot better. I am one of those people that probably needs to spread out my dose half in the morning, half early afternoon. I did notice some insomnia even though I took that pill at 1pm yesterday, the additional 10mg. Going to probably try the 40 after a week or so on 30. I don't want to up too much too quickly and not know how my body reacts, but I knew I needed more than 20. Good luck lowering your Vii and cutting out the Lactimil for a bit!
I felt ok on 20, but still having crying outburst and depression. The new pshy doc told me that I didn't just have depression, but also Bipolar which is why he added the lamictal. i've been on 40 viibryd and lamictal 25 practically the same amount of days. I thought it was the lamictal, but not so sure now...maybe 40 viibryd is the culprit. Thanks for the advice. I'm going to speak to my doctors this morning and let them know. So today I will take 30 viibryd and no lamictal. Thanks, Donna.
Thanks so much Debie, and I hope you feel better too. I am glad to hear that the viibryd is helping you with your emotions. Now just to tackle those awful side effects.
Julie were you having these bad side effects when you were at the 20mg..and how were you feeling on the 20mg?? If you were feeling good you need to go down to 30mg and maybe get off the other med. Sometimes we have to be our own Drs. and really let them know what isn't working...I did the 10mg 1 week, 20mg 1 week tomorrow, I am having side effects that are starting to improve..When I see my Dr. on Weds I know he will want me to go to the 40mg, theres no way I will do it I want to stick to the 20mg for another week or 2 and then go up to thirty and see where it goes from there. Good luck and again if you were good on 20 of the Vii ask your Dr. to go down to 30mg and see how you do..Keep us informed..Thanks!!!!
So sorry for you problems..............I think my only problems with virbyrd is joint problems in my knees especially..............but I do take some joint meds for back and arm pain just making do till I talk to Dr about knee pain other than that vibryd is doing great for my emotions..............hope you get better
I'm glad I found this discussion. I am starting my third week of Viibryd. My doctor weaned me off zoloft, which I have taken for 20 years, and started me off on Viibryd at 10mg, then 20 and now I am starting the 40 (about 11 days in on 40). I have started having severe stomach pain, eye twitching, headaches, muscle pain, tremors, nausea, insomnia, dizziness and losing balance, and severe lower back pain. Problem is I just went to a psych doctor for the first time, and he put me on Lamictal which I have been on 25 mg for 10 days. He knew I had jsut started Viibryd and even said he didn't like that medicine, but told me to stay on it. So in reality...I don't know which medicine is causing all of these side effects! Arrrrrgh! I have been sick since I was 10 years old. Been treated for depression when I was Bipolar which apparently being treated incorrectly just causes the depression episodes to come on more often and last longer and longer. Anyway I don't know which is worse...depression or side effects.
on 40 mg for 6 months or more side effects have gone and as happy as I think I should be since I don't really know what happy really is but I do get out of bed in the mornings and go to work and work in the yard and spend time with family and friends so if you keep with the program it may work for you as it works for me.
Just in case people are not aware, there is some kind of special therapy that is being used to great D&A without drugs. My shrink is doing this procedure and claims great results for people that are candidates. I think it is for really bad D&A and people getting no real relief from meds.
I have no clue on how good this procedure may be.
Just saying for those that may want to ask drs about it and research more on Google.
NeuroStar TMS Therapy®
NeuroStar TMS Therapy is a new, noninvasive treatment option for patients with depression who have not achieved satisfactory results from previous antidepressant treatment. TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) uses magnetic field stimulation to treat the symptoms of depression and has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
GoodRx has an interesting website on price comparisons for viibryd.
These indicate that the price is about the same whether one buys 10-20-40.
I am going to contact some govt officials and ask how this can be priced this way. This seems weird.
I had replied yesterday but my post didn't show up? So just posting an update. I am on 20mg and doing okay. Most of the side effects/afterlash of the Cymbalta were gone, thank GOD. I knew it would be hellish going off that, and super glad the Viibryd helped with tapering the Cymbalta, especially after I was off totally. I still get brain zaps but only with lots of physical activity. I know I will need to go up to at least 30mg with the Viibryd, so holding onto the 20 for the full week, then will do 30 for a full week and see how I feel. If I feel like that is working for me I will hold onto that dose but still order the 40's. I haven't had any issues with cutting pills, they seem to work fine for me same as if I don't cut. I haven't had any side effects from Viibryd that I can tell, except for an increase in appetitie, yippie LOL, but I know I can control that if I really want to. I figure one thing at a time. If anything, my physical level of activity has increased/which I attribute to more motivation! This is huge for me and I am really happy with it so far. Wanted to contribute a positive experience along with Joe's. Will keep you updated!
I think the co pay depends on the insurance you have mine is $45 which I don't mind paying because it works better than any other med I've taken............thats weird that this big city hospital didn't have it. I live in a very small town in LA. and my drug store had it and has it on hand for me every month
My co-pay is $25 and the cost of the drug says $174,99. I too cut the pills nd have settled on 30mg as the correct dose for me to have good results from viibryd.
