Viibryd Reviews (Page 24) (Top voted first)
UpdatedGoing to start it tomorrow. Anyone else taking it, and if so, how do you like it?
Thanks!
Hated it, thought it was gonna be a wonder drug but almost immediately i had bad symptoms, angry, irritable, mean, just overall horrible and i tried it slowly advancing for over a month. Then the withdrawl from it was really bad, they dont always tell you that. Good luck, hope it works for you.
Hi everyone! I am on day 8 of Viibryd. I just finished the 10mg and am afraid to jump to 20mg so o cut my first 20mg in half. Did any one have any problems going from 10mg to 20mg?
Hi, for me, it worked best to take dosages slowly, by cutting in half for 3-4 days and then move up to the correct dose. I never had any real bad symptoms, but, what was weird is that the drug kicked in, then, backed off, and then, kicked in eventually in about 2-3 weeks. Now on it for 2 months and it is working very nice. Best SSRI for me yet.
i had the same thing happen, i have taken many ssri, this one really harsh on my system and mental state
I had the same problem. I went from crying all the time, not sleeping at all, agitated a lot! (Which is Not like me at all)!!! I usuall:: have a ton of patience. I hate feeling this way!
I stopped taking it I feel like myself again
So, how long were you on it, and at what dosage and what was the big problem that pushed you to drop it?
What are you taking now instead?
Thanks Joe!! I just took my first 20mg today. I stayed on 10mg for 10 days. I'm nervous if the dose is to high but I will be positive. I can take the stomach issues but not the insomnia. Wish me luck!!! I do like viibryd but not happy with taking an antidepressant. This is my first antidepressant. Once u start taking them do u have to take an antidepressant for the rest of ur life? I hope not. Someone please let me know.
I have a lot of first hand knowledge on SSRIs having started them off and on since 1998.
They have worked, some betters than others. Generally, doctors figure 2 years is a good idea, and then if your life circumstances are improved, and your symptoms are good, then, a slow weaning over month is the routine. Some patients want for life out of fear for a relapse and a return to the bad symptoms. Everybody is different.
You are now on one of the most latest and modern formulas for an SSRI. The drug industry wlll get more out as time goes along.
Be patient. If there are triggers in your life to cause depression, the medicine can not work as well,or at least help with keeping the symptoms less.
Also, always try the right diet, and exercise, to produce good chemicals in your brain. Read up on diets to fight depression, and about exercise that can help too. Good luck!
I have just taken my first 10 mg tablet of Viibryd with a peanut butter sandwich. It's 6 pm. Dr. said to take along with my Remeron. I take that before bedtime. I also have xanax to take as needed. I am really awful at trusting my Dr. on giving me the right stuff. I have never had a reason to doubt him. I need a lot of support from a lot of positive people out there. Hope you will be there for me.
Thank you for your comments, I get more anxious about thinking about taking drugs than actually taking them. Exercise and outside interests really do make a difference in a persons well being.
I started to feel really anxious, any little thing set me off. I felt like i was bipolar, or what i would think it would feel like to be bipolar. I was high one minute and crying the next. I was taking 60 mg of cymbalta, it seemed to have stopped working after taking it for nearly 2 years. I took cymbalta every other day to get off of it and then quit and started taking the viibryd. I am seeing that cymbalta is not that easy to quit and i should have taken longer to ween off, so that is what i am doing now. doc also has chanaged me from klonopin to ativan. i felt i needed something as needed for anxiety, i think we did too many changes at once.
Hello: It is not unusual to take the SSRI and Remeron which helps to promote sleep.
The xanax is to calm down anxiety, which is sometimes from an over active adrenal gland. That is what I get at times, where the subconscious brain activates the adrenals, so that you get that tense and excited sensation. Benzos help a lot if take correctly and judiciously when needed.
Always talk to people about all of this as it helps immensely to talk out all things possible that bother you or worry you.
This is already starting to help. It is good to know there are other people out there that understand. Ty
I remember the first time I had to take a SSRI in 1998. I was very upset that something like that became necessary in my life. It was as a result of a traumatic incident and I was just way to nervous and unable to sleep enough to engage in my job. I began to take it so that I could work and support my family. I was worried about the side effects or unknown factors.
Now, 14 years later, I don't find it a problem at all. I found that these are necessary meds when the actual need exists. I do believe they are safe to take so long as you try to take them as dr ordered and as light of a dose you can get away with.
Well, for all you new posters.....I am still taking Viibryd with incredible results!! Some people I know have major problems. If you read my past post, mine were just the dreams and sp which I already had problems with. But I have been on it since 7/14/2011 as you see I was the first poster. It took several months to straighten all out, but the outcome has been awesome!!! Good luck to you all!!!
Nice to hear the good results. BTW, what dose do you take for maintenance now. Also, do you take any adjunct psyche med for further help or is this the only one.
Also, what sleep benefit do you get, such as, long sleep time and better quality of sleep? Do you know how long the doctor will keep you on this? Thanks
Hi Joe,
Well, I can't go through it all...I do have posts all through here about my journey with Viibryd.
First of all, I didn't have the stomach issues that others had. The only thing at first was that I felt dizzy and like I was walking on clouds....lol...But I did have major dream problems which scared me a little. I have never been able to take any kind of sleep meds because they cause me to have ridiculous, crazy, and vivid dreams. This reminded me of that!! I could also manipulate my dreams as I woke up and went back to sleep...and still can sometimes...lol...but the dreaming and sleep paralysis has gotten back to normal pretty much. The sp is scarey but I have done that all my life, and this just made it worse but it is much better now and knock on wood I haven't had the problem lately!!! I keep my dog close to me in bed....lol...
I have been on Wellbutrin for years and tried to go off it when I started taking Vii, but my heart started pounding and I felt crazy, so I kept it. It wasn't withdrawals from the Wellbutrin, because I have never had withdrawals from it, (except for after a couple of weeks, I would realize I needed it badly....lol). Guess I just needed the combo. I also take Xanyx....been on it for a couple of years now. Am Hashi/Hypo so that probably contributed to soooo many things in my life til I found out a couple of years ago. Have that under control with meds.
The Viibryd miraculously changed my life. Because of anxiety, I had not been able to drive, but short distances and on back roads. For some reason, after a couple of months it just started getting better and better..course I had to read and realize that I had to not be scared of being scared...lol...Now I can drive and am able to get on the highways and go see my kids and everything!!! Haven't taken more than a two hour trip, but oh my gosh!!! I thought that I would never be able to again!!! When the time comes to go on a longer one...I am up for it!!!
I take 40mg in the morning with at least a 250 calorie meal. I hate eating breakfast1!!...lol...I also can not low carb any more.....seems the Viibryd and low carb don't go together...which sucks, that has always been my diet that I can lose weight on!! But I wouldn't change anything for the fact that I can live again!!!
My doctor would always laugh at me when i would go off Wellbutrin knowing that I needed it...and I don't see why this would be different. Not thrilled to have to take meds, but sometimes that is just what you have to do!!
Good Luck!!!

I was on 60mg.cymbolta my dr put me on20mg viibryd I'v been sick to my stomach have an ulcer scared it might be affecting it. I've been irratable and b****y and having hot flashes but just went of my premrin. Has anyone else had these symptoms.
Hi Is:
Thanks for all of this info. Sometimes people have to make trade offs to give up things for the sake of something better.
That Wellbrutrin is a different chem. formula as you probably know and is not a true SSRI. So, it is frequently an adjunct med with a SSRI.
Any SSRI can produce at the beginning some light headed feelings, vertigo, dreams/mares, and strange body sensations. For most, those are going to subside and be minor.
That driving phobia is a tough done to deal with, and I am glad you are improving. These are often subconscious things that trigger adrenalin and then feelings of body tenseness and excitement, etc. So, people refrain from things when that adrenalin hits them, or the fear of it hitting them.
Some people take a beta blocker to control heart palpitations and some nervousness. For example, some people with stage fright take a beta blocker before something nervous time may come up, or expected stress event. I have taken them off and on as needed if I feel I am going to face a stress event.
Xanax is also given to help with sleep, but it is only for short time frames. It can wear off with tolerance. For sleep, drs will give Ambien, Lunesta, Sonata, or Rzserem.
In my case, I am very pleased with the Viibryd as the best one, 30 mg is working nice and I figure I will on it for a long time as per my dr.
Hope all goes well and you keep getting better. Joe
