Viibryd Reviews (Page 13) (Top voted first)
UpdatedGoing to start it tomorrow. Anyone else taking it, and if so, how do you like it?
Thanks!
Maybe it (hair loss) won't happen to you. It does not
happen to everybody. If you are getting any good out of it at all, maybe you should give it a good try? I don't know---I'm no expert.....just can relate to all your attempts to feel better. I too have been on just about everything out there----no results with some.
Some (a little) help with others, but all with disgusting
side effects and the "kick in the butt" syndrome where
they just stop being effective for no reason. I've heard
that other people feel the same way. I just don't think
Pharma has found the answer-----just the quickest, easiest thing to get to market to make the big money
over and over again. All I have is an undergrad degree in a stupid field, but it's pretty obvious to me that the answer to mood disorders lies somewhere in hormones, but I bet it would take too long to figure that out----maybe our kids will have better treatments. but, I doubt it-----after all, depressed people don't kick up much dust.
Went to a new Dr. yesterday. Pretty much what was expected. I went through hyper serotonin syndrome. Still very weak but I am now completely off the Viibryd and have not had any migraines or horrible all over body pains etc like I was having. My problem was the Viibryd gave me migraines then I took migraine meds and it started a very horrible reaction. Like I said, lucky to be here today.
Did your doctor say the body pains were from the
serotonin syndrome? I am just now beginning to feel
better after months of severe body pain. I am scheduled to see a Rheumatologist. I was wondering about that body pain stuff. Does anybody know anything else about the all over pain from Viibryd?
See, all the time I was taking Viibryd, I was also taking Tramadol for pain that I've had for years. I bet I had
serotonin syn and didn't know it. I've been off Viibryd
totally for one month today. Just yesterday, I noticed that I don't hurt quite as much. Not taking as much Tylenol either. I just didn't understand what serotonin
syndrome was---and of course my pdoc didn't say anything b/c he never should have let me take Tramadol and Viibryd together. (Found that out after
researching websites)
Thanks for sharing that with me.
Now it's all starting to make sense. I have to have some form of pain med for chronic pain, but I don't want to
go to the "bigger" stuff like vicodin or anything like that.
I need to get to a good doctor.
Thanks again.
I have been on Viibryd since Nov 1 2011 and I am feeling so much better. I am motivated again, I am not affected by SAD as much, my libido is coming back, and I have not experienced any hair loss (knock on wood).
My husband even commented that since being on Viibryd I am acting like my old self again - the person he fell in love with.
I know there have been a lot of people having adverse reactions/side effects on this medicine (I had my share of ugly side effects at first as well), but now that I am stable this drug has given me a new lease on life. I did not realize how depressed and screwed up I was before taking Viibryd.
It took me about 6 weeks to get over most of the anxiety I was feeling at first, but the difficulties were well worth it.
This drug has changed my life!
Maybe so, but the problem lies with taking this drug and combining it with migraine meds or tramadol. Taking this drug alone is a whole different ballgame. Although I have seen many reports of hair loss and other pretty serious problems on here. It just depends just like any other drug on the individual and their circumstances. Some people may not react the way I did but if they do, I felt I should tell my story.
I wish that the drug reps would spend more time educating their doctor clients about this drug and the
ones that should not be mixed with it.
We (the patients) are the ones who suffer and we don't even get free lunches, trips, concert tickets or any of the other goodies.
I have been taking the sample pack of the 30 day supply and am on day 21 (up to 40mg). I believe there are positive and negatives to this medicine.
I was taking lexapro before this and reduced my dose to zero a month before i started viibryd. I was extremely snappy and angry.
My doctor suggested I try this, without explaining what exactly this medication does. So, I did what you are doing now (research). The first week was fine, I had little to no side effects, when I jumped to 20 mg and i drank 5 beers with viibryd is when it got scary. I was seriously suicidal (hence the directions, do NOT drink with alcohol) lesson learned. I also had to watch taking ibuprofin (which is also in the interactions page). Anyhow so after I followed directions and read everything I am up to 40 mg.
My first night on 40 mg was fine other than almost no sleep at all. I did have in depth dreams but nothing scary that I have read in other posts. It seems the more time I allow my body to get used to the medication the better it gets. I feel extremely energetic, i smile, laugh, and have quit drinking (due to the really scary night). I dont have any GI issues, no headache, I am very calm and neutral. I feel this medication was actually built for me! I feel great. The only issue im working through is the lack of sleep. I am taking a generic unisom, I hope this is safe??? Any suggestions please respond!
Viibyrd was the worst drug (or any) experience of my life. On 10 mg started feeling very wound; started to go off, and it was horrible down to the final little crumbs that I'm taking. I can't imagine heroin addition would be worse.
don't take this if you can avoid it.
I had shortness of breath at first but it went away. I titrated to 40 Mg ss prescribed but simply didn't feel good so went back to 20 where I've been for several weeks now. Going to wean off because of binge eating, thinning hair, blurry vision, arthralgia in one finger. Worked great at first but not at these costs.
Hello, My 27 yr old is on Viibryd for at least 2 months. I noticed some muscle twitching and tics during sleep for the past 2-3 weeks. Now he smacks his lips during sleep. It is subltle. Also, light tics during day. Anyone having these issures?
Hello. My 27 yr old son started Viibryd at least 2 months ago. He is on 40 mg per day. He started to show muscle twitching and tics 2 weeks ago, especially during sleep. Now during sleep, he started to lip smack at times. Also, subtly. He does faintly have facial tic during day. He says he does't notice it. Does anyone have issues like this?
I am on day four and have only experienced loose stools. Today I felt some knee and back pain but no idea if that's related. I had been on cymbalta in the past for depression and had zero negative side effects, so I am hoping to be as lucky with this new med. I was off of cymbalta for quite some time and then started having severe anxiety after my son was hit by a car. That's when I started on the viibryd. Hoping for good things. I'm also coming off of adderrall after five years of bein on that drug and that has been extremely hard. So far I'm happy with this drug. I even feel a little bit better after only a couple of days. If it doesn't work out my doc said we'd try lexapro next. Anyone ever been on lexapro and was your experience good? Also , for those on viibryd, when did the negative symptoms start? Week one, week two, week three? And info you'd like to share would be so appreciated. I feel very alone in this and appreciate these forums more than I could ever express. Thank you for any responses and I wish you the best in your treatment and life. Thanks for listening.
my doctor switched me over to 40mgs of viibryd from 40mgs of lexapro (which I'd been on for years.) I had a lot of nausea and spaciness and so I've started taking 20mgs in the morning and 20mgs at night. It's better but still nauseous with loose stool and related abdominal cramping. The only reason I'm doing this is because I had some weight gain on lexapro and I was told that was not a side effect of viibryd. But it's been 3 weeks now and I'm still nauseous. I kind of feel like giving up and going back to lexapro. Any ideas about when this nausea might go away? I tried going down to 20 mgs of viibryd but I had similar symptoms as when I missed a dose of lexapro (nightmares, sweating.)
If you started with 40mg its a no wonder you feel the way you do. Your doctor should have given you a starter pack that titrates from 10, 20, 40mg over the course 4 weeks. It worked for me and I'm doing very well on it along with lamictal to fill in the occasional unexplained low spots ( verses a specific trigger )
I began on the starter pack in Aug, but could not tolerate the 40 mg dose side effects........ sweats, nausea, sleeplessness, etc. I went back to 20 mg daily and have been there since Sept with virtually no side effects and feeling good.
Rick I'm glad such a low dose is helping you. After I finished the 40's it was necessary to go up to 60mg and now I'm a lot better. I guess some people tolerate alot more that others- seems like I need a high dose of what ever drug I take and I'm only 105lbs
Have any one taking Viibryd ever experienced muscle tremors from it? And is common to get muscle tremors from anit-depressant medicines?
good to know. I too have reduced my dosage to 20mg and while I still have some slight nausea it's much less and I'm hoping going away. I tried to contact my doctor and she wouldn't speak to me unless I came in. Since I am without health insurance and at $200 a visit I skipped it. Is that normal? I would think if the medication she put me on is making me nauseous she might get on the phone for 5 minutes to advise me...Is that unreasonable?
I paid 250.00 for the 1st hour consultation, and now
go every 2 months for meds management for 80.00 about 15 min. Most want you in every month but I told him I cannot afford that so he agreed to every other since I'm in the care of a therapist he knows and respects.
