Have severe degenerative disc disease. I recieve fyntinal patch and 10-325 hydrocodone and this has been ongoing 10years or so. I have learned not all hydrocodone is the same and that using the same hydrocodone loses its effect but changing the generic hydricodone manufacturer can help keep the effects of the medication working at its peak. ## Hi roro, Sorry to hear about your condition. It sounds like you have a pretty good idea of what works for you and what doesn't after being on these for 10 years. No one can argue that. However in my opinion, you're proposed theory on hydrocodone having more profound effects when you change manufacturers is debatable depending on which manufacturer you get. Often times the differentiating inactive ingredients play a role in how well one bra...

what are the pink or peach specks in Vicodin made of? ## Hi tami, My theory based on feedback from several patients who've been prescribed these pills in particular, lead me to believe that its just food coloring to make for easy and quick identification amongst other similar types of pills. I don't think they're known to have any medical value either, but would probably prove to be a helpful marker for those in the medical field who are around thousands of different pills all day. Does anyone else have thoughts on this?

yellow oblong or oval ## The yellow pill which you are describing is Vicodin, which contains the combination of Acetaminophen + Hydrocodone bitartrate (325 mg - 10 mg). Acetaminophen + Hydrocodone is a combination of two types of pain medicine to treat moderate to severe pain. For more information about this drug, please refer to the link below... If you have any more questions or concerns, please post back and I will be happy to help you. ## I have been taking Norco's for 12 year 300 pills a month take 10 a Day . I suffer from chronic back pain. When I take Vicodin I seem to get quicker relief than when I take the same dosage of Hydrocodone. My doctor says there is no difference between the two pills Is it all in my head ## Hello, Nuts! How are you? Sorry about the problem that you're having. There can be slight fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredient in some generic medications. For most people, the difference is therapeutically insignificant, but some are sensitive to any change and may experience problems or ineffectiveness. So yes, they are the same, but there may be enough of a difference to prevent it from working well for you. Learn more Vicodin details here. You could try asking your doctor to write your prescription so the pharmacy has to provide you with the brand name....

yellow oval pill. 36/10 on one side and v on the other ## If this is a vicodin then mine must be a missprint.Oval and yellow it has 36/01 on one side and v on the other. At least i was told it was a vic. the strongest available.what do i have ,bootleg?. ## i found the yellow pill with a v on one side and the o1-36 on the other in my daughters purse what is it ## its actually 10/36, hydrocodone samcneelyjmesme as Vicodin HP. time for a sit down! ## Okay, just to clear up the confusion, the listed marking is 3601 V, with the 36 and the 01 separated by a score line to enable easy breaking or cutting of the tablet. It should be oblong and yellow, with the stylized V on the opposite side. And it is a generic for Vicodin, that contains 325mgs of Acetaminophen and 10mgs of Hydrocodone, so it...

Need my vicodin in Galveston Texas now dr says can't prescribe any more please help ## Need pain medication in Galveston Texas ## Hello, Sundowner! How are you? Since Vicodin was changed to a schedule 2 drug at the begging of October and the DEA issues revised regulations for the prescribing of such drugs last year, you'll need to see a specialist, if you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis. A general practice physician won't be able to prescribe it for you. According to the FDA, this is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there a chance that your current doctor could refer you to someone? That might be the quickest and easiest wa...

I'm in Dallas Texas, looking for a doctor who will prescribe Vicodin. I spent money on several visits just to be told they don't write for it. Help I only have a few pills left. Got any other suggestions? ## Hello, Karen! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. However, if you look at the FDA website, you'll see that all medications containing Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen were changed to schedule 2 back in October, so you'll need to see a pain management specialist, if you require it on a long-term ongoing basis. General practice doctors won't write for it. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Additionally, ...

Looking for Doc in Dallas TX area that is liberal with the pain meds. Any help would be greatly appreciated ## Hi ToddG, I may not have a doctor I can refer you to, but I can provide you with a couple links that may be of service to you in locating pain management doctors within your general area. All you have to do is input your city or zip code for narrowed results: {link removed because site no longer exists} You can give this other page a try too if you come up with different results for some reason or another: wellness.com/find/pain%20management%20specialist Many of the results you find (in one or both of the links above) also list a phone number for that specific doctor; I'd consider calling up a number of them to see if they are accepting new patients; some aren't, but mo...

My wife has liver and pancreatic cancer. She has pain in her stomach as well as indigestion. Will Vicodin work better than Tylenol or is there something better? ## Hello, Kip! How are you and your wife? I'm sorry that she's in so much pain. The Vicodin is actually stronger, so if her doctors has prescribed it, she may want to try it, instead. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. However, there are also many other medications that she could try, such as Oxycodone, Opana and Dilaudid. All of which she could ask her doctor about. They carry the same risk and cause most of the same side effects as what I've already listed. NIH lists these, as well a...

I have been using vicodin for 2 years prescribed by the same Doctor. It is the only thing that keeps me mobile and active with a better quality of life. Everyone in my family and everyone who I work with know I've been using this and comment on how much better I'm walking (I have a bad limp in my right leg). I have not abused the prescription, I signed a Pain Management Contract, get it from only one pharmacy and have followed all of the rules. I have never gone over the allowed dose of 1 to 2 tabs a day as needed - 7.5-300. In April a UA was done and it came back negative which is absolutely impossible but because of this I have been dismissed from the pain management contract I've tried reaching out to a few pain management doctors to no avail. I feel like a criminal for a...

Is this similar to Vicodin or norcos? Does it give you the same feeling/affect? Does it have narcotics in it? Is it considerate a opiate? ## Does it have ip 190 on one side and 500 on the other, white oblong ? If it does it is 500 mg Naproxen. Naproxen is a nonsterodial anti-inflammatory. It is the same medication that is in Aleve over the counter, except the mg is higher in prescription Naproxen. It is not a narcotic or opiate. It does not contain the same medication as Vicodin or Norco.

Don't want to overdo it. But pain is horrific. How many Vicodin 's(10-300) are potentially lethal? ## Hi John, While there's no exact number of pills for a potentially lethal dose, I can tell you that for your own safety, the FDA recommends NO MORE THAN 4000mgs a day of Acetaminophen, and that is to be spread out over a 24hr period - NOT to be taken all at once. They also state in their warning that anything over 325mgs in a sitting has been shown to cause liver damage/failure; which from my understanding can eventually lead to death if liver damage is severe. So why don't you just ask the doctor for something stronger if Vicodin isn't cutting it? A lot of chronic pain patients are prescribed much more potent medications WITHOUT Acetaminophen, such as Oxycodone, Opan...

Is there vicodin 5/325 or is it hyrocodone or oxycodone ## Hello, Ken! How are you? Vicodin is a trade name for Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen, so they are the same thing. Oxycodone is slightly stronger than Hydrocodone and when coupled with Acetaminophen, it's available in the same doses. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Just thought I'd say, I'm in my early 30s and in good shape. ## Before I answered about metabolism, diet etc. I had replied to you that a few months ago I had accidentally taken a vicodin ES thinking it was an excedrin the day before my drug panel by my Sub Dr. I only took one pill and the UA was clean 24 hours later. Iv been In 3 car accidents , fallen down a flight of steps, and have bad arthritis. And k need something to relieve my pain. My dr office will not prescribe vicoden anymore. Which is what I use to take. Any ideas?? ## Hello, Sheryl! How are you? Due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, no general practice doctor will be able to prescribe it, anymore. If you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. The quickest way to get in with one might be to ask your current doctor to refer you to someone, but there are no guarantees that they will prescribe Vicodin or anything else. Hydrocodone combinations have also been changed to schedule 2, so you can no longer have refills on them. This is a narcotic analges...
