Have severe degenerative disc disease. I recieve fyntinal patch and 10-325 hydrocodone and this has been ongoing 10years or so. I have learned not all hydrocodone is the same and that using the same hydrocodone loses its effect but changing the generic hydricodone manufacturer can help keep the effects of the medication working at its peak.

Hi roro,

Sorry to hear about your condition. It sounds like you have a pretty good idea of what works for you and what doesn't after being on these for 10 years. No one can argue that. However in my opinion, you're proposed theory on hydrocodone having more profound effects when you change manufacturers is debatable depending on which manufacturer you get. Often times the differentiating inactive ingredients play a role in how well one brand works over another. And I think a good example of this is displayed on Actavis' newer white Norco pills. The yellow Watson brand that proceeded these were touted as one of the best tablets you could get. After Actavis took over, they made some changes to the formula that caused people to question whether they're taking a placebo pill vs what they once had. The dosage is listed as being the same, so it's obvious that changes within the tablet's composition / binders & fillers probably have something to do with it. Just wanted to point out that while your routine of switching manufacturers makes good sense for managing one's tolerance, these other influential factors may also come into the picture based on what manufacturer you get stuck with (which could be a good thing or a bad thing). *knock on wood*
